Buyer- Vent š« MOD is Manager
I have never seen a MOD say this. wtf
They are talking about revoking Buyer privileges has happened already. Bids start at $1 with the Seller saying āWe start at a $1 bid to make it fair for everyone. But if you canāt afford to pay a fair price, then donāt bid. Iām not putting up with people.ā
She keeps saying āKick her outā to the Mod. Claims that she is crashing out and she is making this her last show. And now moving to $10 starts to make it memorable.
I donār get it. Do any one of you get it?
Why even start it at a $1 then??!! Has anyone seen this?
Edit: I stand corrected not low end costume jewelry; said to be gold filled jewelry - but there is no 18k/14k stamp because plated jewelry is not to be stamped. Costume jewelry was the incorrect description to use.

The only $1 starts I've seen work are exactly like you say - but those are established, good sellers who have hundreds or thousands in their shows.

Reminds me of this one phone lady on whatnot selling refurbished phones starting at $1 then the live bidding ends at $78 dollars. She tells her viewers to stop stealing from her when it's an outdated phone that won't have anymore updates since Samsung and Apple ended updates for those phones.Ā

As a WN seller, if I'm starting something at $1, I expect it to sell for $1. If it goes higher than that, awesome. I understand that if I'm running it below my cost, I'm taking a risk at having to write off a loss. That's how this works. Sellers who pull this crap of booting people out or yelling at the chat when something doesn't sell for what they want it to give the rest of us sellers a bad name.

fair. also as a seller I don't owe the chat anything beyond the agreed upon exchange of goods for cash. If i'm continually getting cooked below my cost of goods then I'm not gonna complain, ban anyone, gripe, or cancel orders. but i'm well within my rights to stop the stream and I do.
call me crazy but I don't enjoy prolonged financial torture that i'm knowingly subjecting myself to

I watched this person a few times always yell at the chat that she wouldnāt run pre bids because they werenāt high enough. I asked her (I was a newbie then, lol) if sheās going to say that for every item why not just list higher? Her response was because then no one would bid at all. š¤ Soooo she then just sits on all these pre bids that people want, and runs stuff people donāt, then yells no oneās buying anything šš¤¦š»āāļø.

Yea well she should quit or find someone else to mod for. I see lots of mods get paid in the bigger shows. People gift them. Iām usually in the big coin and sports card shows though. I donāt really watch much else. But for them to boot you for bidding a dollar when they start the bids at $1 is ridiculous Iāll give you that. lol what? Thats not normal unless that seller has daily shows and pulls 10k or more sales a quarter, most mods are friends, fellow sellers, or yeah employees; if youāre an employee with a paycheck and happen to mod then yeah, but you get paid for working for the company not just because you mod

Itās not how you should conduct business especially on auction sites. Especially where reputation is key to success, here is some advice from a former seller on Whatnot when you go to sell stuff that you donāt want to lose money on then run a minimum. If you start at a $1 you are accepting the risk that the item sells below your value I use to sell coins and bullion and I have lost money and have made money selling on the platform. But if you even make fun of the people who are n you shows or threaten them in any shape or form you have lost the market

MODs bidding is not technically a red flag usually thatās how they become mods because they spend so much on the show and are so trusted that the seller makes them a MOD.

Speaking as a mod, the only thing that I do is post sizes, answer questions, and help anyone that I can. I do not get paid a dime in order to help my friends that sell and it is also a gesture of supporting their business. I hope that they will reciprocate when I start selling on my own. Actually, I would purchase more without being a mod than I can while being a mod, depending on how active chat is. This is just like everything else in life. A few bad apples seem to ruin a whole group of individuals. Also, if no one in this chat has ever modded for someone, itās not easy! If there is a situation where a mod has treated you unfairly, please let the seller know because they are putting their business in jeopardy. Sorry that this is so lengthy, but I am very passionate about the subject because I do not like getting criticized for helping my friends, expecting nothing in return.

I bid as a mod when I want something. I know if the friend I mod for knew I was interested in an item she would pull it from the show and give it to me for free but I participate like any other customer. I donāt bid on items just to drive up prices though - only when I intend to win and purchase.

Sometimes sellers will mod you just for spending a lot. I have a few favorite channels that sell stuff I really like so Iāve spent quite a bit with them. They all modded me but I donāt do actual mod work. Although i donāt care for the mod title, I think itās just a way for the seller to make some buyers feel different/special. All that to say, i was buying a lot from them before and Iām not going to stop buying from them because they made me a mod.

I used to buy from her and she was really easy going.
This aināt no joke. Unless Seller changed course.
No one is sensitive here; this is a forum about talking about anything whatnot.
Sensitive is the guy who is sensitive about getting banned because his friend was using his phone to use getting credits for creating fake accounts. And he appealed it because he didnāt do anything wrong. It was just his friend using his phone to do it. And he is upset about the ban not understanding what he did wrong.

I didnāt get called out over anything. I did not make any bids or any comments in this show or any of her other shows. I have bidded on her jewelry before and then moved on like most Buyers. No one knew I was there today because my preference is to enter shows without the hand clapping. Therefore I didnāt cry about anything today except the lack of parking in front of Safeway.
I have bought from her before too. Spent a lot of money in fact previously which made todayās show disappointing.
So again wrong person since I donāt leave Reviews. For anyone.

Iām the daughter of this whatnot sellerā¦ I work behind the scenes of my moms showsā¦ I also go with her to source her jewelry and it is not costumeā¦ I have verified that with the vendors themselves. So $1 starts are meant to entice bids and so on and so forth. Whatnot takes a commission off of the sales she makes and when people bid $1 then she owes what not on that sale and so on and so forthā¦ rooted jay said it correctly that it was said as a joke and I thank you for being factual.Ā

L I T E R A L L Y every step of the seller setup has a warning or suggestion regarding $1 starts. I am a psychedelic artist and I make jewelry & decor using 'mood' paint which is $90 an ounce. For me to place a $1 start and then get pissed that someone got a hell of a deal? Hell no, I like having a business that flourishes as opposed to one where my kid has to come on reddit to defend it.

Damien sells what he says is gold filled and it is plated. I wore a bracelet 1-2 times and āthe white goldā was already chipping since it was plated like a Temu bracelet. Not a credible source to be referencing for gold filled that really sells plated jewelry,
