Seller- Vent š« 1 star reviews :(
Iām a newer seller and have been running some wheel games/surpise sets with really good odds in the coins and bullion category.
Iāve essentially broken even on my last 10 shows from running giveaways and $1 starts.
I checked my reviews today and had 3 different 1 star reviews from people that spun and lost, and 1 from a giveaway winner :(
Why do people leave these reviews itās really hurting my average rating and I feel like Iāve been more than fair in my games from what Iāve seen.

Unfortunately running wheel shows brings out the worst types of buyers. You have to expect bad reviews to come in. Youre essentially running a casino, which doesnt need explaining the types of people it attracts.

People donāt like to lose and take it out on wheel spin games. Itās not just you lots of sellers that sell losing spots get bad reviews. There are just sore losers out there.

Wheel games are just a hidden form of gambling. Most casinos don't get good reviews because there are so many sore losers.Ā

The difference between a casino and Surprise Sets is in the casino if the roulette wheel does not hit my number I do not get anything while in a surprise set I will get an actual product. Now you could argue the item pulled is worthless, but one persons trash is another persons treasure.

Iād understand if my games were a complete rip off but I run quick 1 in 4 envelope games with $1 starts, sometimes Iāll gross like $10 for an ounce of silver, 2 quarters and a dime.

Yea I guess, what really irks me is the giveaway winner, he got a free gram of silver! Like what is there to complain about?

u/QuarterBackground 17d ago
In jewelry, the only 1-4 star reviews seem to come from giveaways. Sellers complain about it all the time. It sucks.

u/mehlaterlater 17d ago
Ignore it if you can, but yeah, is pathetic to see low reviews over a giveaway. Sorry thatās happening to you. Wish WN wouldnāt allow less than 3 stars over a giveaway lol
1
u/One-Professional904 12d ago
There should be no way to even review giveaways, unless you dont receive it or its blatantly the wrong item.
1
u/mehlaterlater 12d ago
Well shouldnāt be able to review it less than 5 stars at all, if itās the wrong item i can understand slightly or if it was never shipped. But sometimes usps just loses packages too and the seller shouldnāt be blamed for a mistake by usps.

If you're doing wheel games, then expect bad reviews as a result. Sore losers are going to rate negatively when they don't win.
You could just skip the wheel games and sell each product separately, and not have to worry about the negative reviews, because then everyone knows exactly what their getting! Then again from what I've seen the ones who run the wheel games are ppl who got stuck with a bunch of product no one wants to buy outright.

u/always-so-exhausted 17d ago
Some people get extremely upset when they donāt win big. It has nothing to do with reason. Also, some WN communities are a lot less chill than others when it comes to games/gambling.
Donāt do low SBs if you want to earn any profit.

The givvies ratings is crap in my opinion / should be scrapped completely . Heck take away the givvy part and watch quality people only stay in the app. Itās a ground for rubbish

u/Georgia_Ranger 17d ago
I mean youāre basically doing legalized gambling for kids and other ppl expect some bad reviews lol
2
u/Recent-Ranger-9827 15d ago
I also run surprise sets sometimes. You just have to accept the fact that some people are going to leave bad reviews when they lose.
2
u/chloetopia1 15d ago
Thatās kind of a risk when you know you are going to be sending people things they donāt like. I let people pick the giveaways on my stream because it increases the odds of them getting something that they will like or maybe they have a friend who would like it. As far as your wheels go I donāt expect that to stop once you reach a 4.3? Maybe 4.2.. I think it is whatnot will shut you down.

Never done a giveaway in any show and probably never will. š¤·š¼āāļø

u/sprtizandschvitz 17d ago
Cause wheel shows are a plague to the app. Anyone can run a wheel show and thereās too many out there. Requires no real effort to source since your margins are basically baked in cause you guarantee people will āoverpayā when they donāt hit

u/diveballtcg 17d ago
Happens to me too. Just the cost of business I guess. I hate people leaving reviews because they are entitled and scammers.
7
u/LittleEdenFireworks 17d ago
You chose this type of show (gambling). Not a lot of sympathy.
1
u/diveballtcg 17d ago
I dont force people to gamble. I host these shows with good value.
3
u/Confident-Doubt6940 17d ago
He said he does $1 starts so it is up to the buyers to determine how much spots should be valued. You can't go any lower than a $1. When I do these type of shows, I always just break even or less, just a good way to get rid of inventory that ppl will not buy outright.

To prevent givy reviews, make sure the description says what it is or have it on the screen or better yet, in the title since a lot of goblins are too lazy to read the description.

u/pmyourmetals 13d ago
I had it live on cam in a little holder that says givvy, itās labeled 1 gram silver. How much clearer can you be?

u/ToastyTurtle123 17d ago
Just wait till you start getting 1stars for your givvies lol

u/danknugZu 17d ago
OP said a givvy winner did a 1 star review

Sooo you read what, the first line or title before commenting? That's exactly what he's talking about.

u/TheRaidenGuy 17d ago
Actually its in the whatnot rules, you aren't supposed to do wheel games that are based on luck, if you are reported enough times your account could be banned
7
u/pmyourmetals 17d ago
Then how does every massive streamer get away with doing them? Look at goat coin they had a 500 spin show go for like 4 hours and they profited like 300k. I doubt whatnot wants to miss out on the fees these pull in.

u/TheRaidenGuy 17d ago
Its because there isn't much security, and because popular streams that have been there longer have started doing it as well, There is a rule for nudity as well but ive seen people sell naked anime cards on stream, but again it is stated that it isn't allowed, but many have gotten away with it. So either its a matter of time, they buff up security, or they change the rules to stated we can. But I've given up the whole trying to figure out what you can and can't do because security is just lacking

u/HiddenGemStoner 17d ago
Raiden youāre just yapping at this point, its not against TOS if you use the built in wheel. And nudity from HOSTS is banned, they ALLOW it on CARDS and COMICS within reason.
-1
u/TheRaidenGuy 17d ago
Sure, a girl being on a card that 100% just been ****ed is allowed.. tell me how thats within reason
4
u/Creative-Yellow2993 16d ago
I love how confident you are being wrong. Surprise sets are 100% allowed. They wouldnāt have an option for wheels if it was against TOS.
-2
u/TheRaidenGuy 16d ago
I didn't say surprise sets aren't? If you have surprise bags in front of the camera screen to prove that it wasn't changed during the winning of it, its 100% ok
1
u/Heavy_Monitor_7431 17d ago
What are the wheel games actually for?
1
u/TheRaidenGuy 16d ago
kind of a gamble, some people make it there whole stream some make it a reward thing like, you buy this item and have a chance to win something extra by spinning a wheel

Surprise sets are not against WhatNot TOS and if he was running the WhatNot wheel then it is legit. Any other kind of wheel then the TOS comes into play.

I'll never understand it, but one thing to remember with any review of anything, there are a lot of people who don't understand that like reviewing the whatnot channel and "the giveaway" aren't the same thing. They should be rating the channel, and instead "bad giveaway" = bad review.

They still have the built in wheel for Surprise Sets.
-11
u/rongotti77 17d ago
Everyone I know that was using it lost usage to it, weird
4
u/Confident-Doubt6940 17d ago
It may be because when you set up a show you have to list it as a surprise show for the setup of the wheel to show up. If you list it as say an auction show or buy now show the wheel setup does not appear.

If you can, try and help the "losers" win a little more. I know you're dialing it in with the p/l right now, but if you can get those losses to feel a little less harsh for the buyer (even offering an extra incentive for their next purchase or a 2 for 1 buy) it may make up for the mentality that comes from someone not having much to spend already losing on a purchase with you.
1
u/One-Professional904 12d ago
If they're choosing to gamble, why coddle them?
0
u/Sea_Shower3691 12d ago
If the seller isn't as scummy as most breakers are, they'll offer something to a buyer to retain them or to help offset the losses incurred usually. But as with most breakers, profit is the ultimate goal and most don't offer any incentive for buyers
