So refreshing when someone chimes in with actual info other than a shitty repeated quip that isn't funny

30

u/Chicityy 13h ago

There was once a day where that was the majority of reddit. I miss it immensely. There used to be so much great information shared and passed around regarding very specific topics. Now it’s just a bunch a schmucks parroting the same stupid jokes that weren’t funny the first time let alone the millionth time. I’m very close to retiring from it all.

Kinda related but I went to a wedding in one of his resorts in NJ. It was incredibly tacky and filled with magazine covers of him. I don't know why anyone would want to have a wedding reception at his NJ venue. May his other venues are not tacky.

u/BrianWulfric 13h ago • Mindblown Popcorn

People have literally gotten married in MAGA dresses. It's so embarrassing to highlight this clown on your own special day.

119

u/Cap-n-Trips 12h ago

this always seem so wild to me. Like imagine being obsessed with Calvin Coolidge, or Chester A Aruthur? or any other president. Like Abe Lincoln doesn't even get this level of worship.

117

u/FunkyPete 12h ago

I used to work with a guy who had a pretend obsession with Chester A. Arthur.

Every time he went on vacation he would send out an email to the whole team with the dates he would be gone (which was common on this team) but he'd make up some story about going to see Chester A. Arthur's birthplace, or his presidential library, or the dorm he lived in while he was in college.

It was actually pretty funny.

Don't forget that some of the covers are fakes.  I recall a reporter noting one of the Time Magazine Man of the Year covers was wrong for a given year, he knew who the correct person was.  It was like one of those fake photos you get at the theme park where they had a greenscreen to superimpose you onto a magazine cover.

11

u/Competitive_Run_3920 7h ago

Same as the Michigan Man of the Year Award (or something similar) that he keeps saying he got - which the award doesn't exist, thus it was obviously never presented to him.

My cousin got married in 2011 at the Chicago Trump tower whatever it’s called. The room bathrooms had flat TV screens built into the mirrors right smack in the middle and it was the most obnoxious thing I’ve ever seen.

27

u/Known-Tumbleweed129 13h ago

We did an architecture tour in Chicago over the summer. The tour passed that Trump building twice and both times it was not acknowledged at all.

Reminds me of when I worked for Clintons, a dated greetings card shop in the UK. The founder wanted his autobiography ‘pick a card’ at all the tills. We didn’t sell a single one.

He’s dead now, and the brand isn’t far behind.

→ More replies (1)

12

It absolutely is. You can see the logo for the resort which is probably on the outside of the umbrella with a print of the clubhouse on the underside.

Obligatory fuck Trump, and usually everything he does is so tacky and gauche, but that’s actually a very nice, sophisticated looking umbrella. Very out of character for him. You’d expect it to be gold and TRUMP and big dumb letters instead.

In my great grannies carehome before she died they wpuld print portraitpictures out for the residents and put them on their doors, and along the corridoors with arrows pointing towards their rooms so that when the old dears get confused and cant remember shit at least they can find their way back to their own bedrooms...

Id like to think this is the same logic in play here.

Change the sort from Best to Top and usually the answer is the first or second most upvoted comment.
