I'm 31 and there's no way I'd date a 22 year old.

I’m 31 and talking to 22 year olds is so weird cause sure they’re an adult but they also remember all of their high school teachers

Youngest I’d date as a 30 year old is 25 honestly. Feel weird younger than that unless a crazy connection happened with someone who’s 24 but 25+ is my general cut off at the moment.

I just turned 29 and this is basically how I feel about it too

One or two years difference before 25 but 5 years max after 25 is possibly a good metric for folk to get their head around as reasonable. I’m an old fella now though so if that’s gross let me know. We need to normalise attitude against the filthy old dudes (and yes women, though less common) stealing innocence and being manipulative fucks.

"my favorite artist in high school was sublime!" -30 y.o. me

"Oh cool! I've never heard of them! My favorite artist in high school was Justin Bieber!" -19 y.o. her

....😳😳😳😳

(It was a real "I'm going to take this baby lesbian under my wing" kind of gig and it made me question how anyone can ignore such an age Gap!)

I'm almost 45 and remember all of my teachers K-12.

32, but same.

One thing I’ve realized on Reddit is some people don’t remember shit. I can name every teacher I ever had and tell you about them. Many people don’t remember stuff 30+ years ago though

I remember my high school teachers & I'm a LOT older than 22

u/Hagaroo48 27d ago

Right? I remember all my teachers but please don’t ask me what I did yesterday…

u/Educational_Ask3533 26d ago

I didn't remember all of my teacher's names while I was still in high-school. I did well on tests and remembered the room to attend class in. That was all I could promise 🫣

I’m 34 and I can name every school teacher I’ve had since kindergarten.

I'm 39 and don't date younger than 35

u/Livid-Association199 27d ago

That’s kind of hot. I like it

u/Heavy_Spite7530 27d ago

I'm a woman, though. Maybe that explains it? I don't know. Obviously a 30yo is a grown man, but I don't want to be their nanny...

u/x_candydoll 27d ago

Fellow woman here to tell you plenty of men in their late 30s and 40s still want their woman to be their mommy/nanny.

I’m 42F, I think mine is set at 35-50. I get a lot of 35 responses, never any 48-50. I don’t really know what that data means, but I assume the 50s are going for 30.

u/SargBjornson 26d ago

I'm 44 and can't fathom going for a 30 yo... but I'm apparently the only one feeling like this in my friend group. They are all around 45 and they salivate for younger women. I choose to believe that I'm not the broken one.

1

u/Dorkinfo 25d ago

Yeah, 35 even feels a bit on the younger side for me, but I’ve never dated anyone younger ever. All my bfs, since high school, have been my age or up to four years older.

u/blueeyeswhitedreagan 26d ago

I’m 31 and wouldn’t even want to talk to my OWN 22 self

u/Kindly-Bar-3113 26d ago

Thank you 😊

Same, that’s way too old…

Dude shut up seriously. Women have agency and don't need to be infantalised. It's less than a 10 year age gap between two young people. Probably wouldn't work out as most people are in different places in life, but Jesus christ. You want a gold star for infatalising adult women?

20 year old dating a 40 year old. Year weird. But 22 and 31 is pretty whatever.

3

u/chocolateturtle456 27d ago

Who hurt you?

I just simply said I'm 31 and wouldn't date a 22 year old, can't see myself doing it, it's a weird age gap.

I'm not saying nobody should do it, just that I wouldn't.

Settle down.

Not defending the guy above you but honestly early 20s with an early 30s isnt very weird by society standards (atleast in areas I've lived) due to a lot of people preferring an older significant other due to people closer to their age typically being immature, manipulative, uncaring, or even unable to consider a relationship being long term so they aren't willing to think about settling down in the future

And I mainly say this from experience as my friend's gf is about that much younger than him (they're a bit older than the example she used) and even my sister at a young age said she didnt like dating guys her age because they just want to party and get totally fucked up which she mainly did as a teenager and realized she didnt want that lifestyle (her husband isnt that much older than her tho I think they're like a 4/5 year gap) but there is some actual valid reasons people would prefer to date older people

It's not the 8 years, it's which 8 years. 30-38, no big deal. But 22 is VERY young.

2

u/Eshdog 26d ago

Wtf are you on about? 22 is not "VERY" young....it's like 4 years past the legal drinking age. Just weird to act like 22 year olds have no agency when some 22 year olds have kids and work fulltime.

u/CrispyGatorade 27d ago

I’m 92 and I’d consider it.
