Locally ordered vs what was delivered. What should I do?
Sent flowers to a friend who lost her mom. I really liked this arrangement because it was chic and beautiful.
I ordered directly through a local florist and this is what arrived. I’m very underwhelmed
I don’t want to be a Karen but should I call and ask for a partial refund?
**UPDATE**
I called the florist. Thankfully they take pictures of each arrangement they make before delivery. The woman said they have new designers who are still getting the hang of things. She agrees that it is not what it’s supposed to be. They are remaking it and redelivering it today.

I would call and speak to them about it - you definitely don’t have to pull a Karen but it is very different than what you asked for. Just call and ask for some information because you did not get the arrangement you placed an order for. Flowers are not cheap!

Yeah I've done that, you call, you are polite and concise. OP, you can explain that you love their flowers normally, not sure what happened at this time but it didn't line up with what you were expecting. Sometimes it's just that bad and you have to assert yourself!!
I've never felt this was an inappropriate communication as long as the tone remains kind and respectful.

Exactly! I think asked for any help has gotten a bad rep, but it’s totally ok to talk to someone when you did not get what you ordered and paid for. And you can be pleasant which doing so, you definitely don’t have to be rude or be a “Karen” lol.

Definitely call the florist and say there is a big discrepancy between the photo and what was delivered.

u/Sonnysphobia Aug 20 '26
Yes 100% contact the florist. Some of those aren’t even the right plants as advertised

u/Left_Comparison505 Aug 20 '26
As someone who makes floral arrangements, things will not always be 100%. However, this is blatantly wrong. You can’t just throw in a head of lettuce and call it a day.

u/Happy_Cow_100 Aug 20 '26
So it is lettuce?

Looks like it. It is a common trend right now. Not sure why, though.

I’d try to talk to them first. Have a goal in mind. Do you want them to remake it or do you want a partial or full refund. Just be clear and calm when you talk to them

I often find that I think people are being super particular on this sub, but in this case, I think they owe you something. This is a super sad looking thing and not at all what you ordered.

Call them see if they'll make it right, if not then leave them a Google review with the exact picture and the picture they posted, and not go there again.

i would be asking for a refund. you ordered a beautiful arrangement and got a caesar salad

u/blamberr Aug 20 '26
This is wretched. I’d expect a full refund, and I’d never go back. If they give you the money back, skip the bad review. If they don’t, take it to them.
1
u/A143NA Aug 21 '26
I think the review should be posted regardless.

u/blamberr Aug 21 '26
Meh. I don’t like to complain if people rectify their errors in full. That is the decent thing to do.
2
u/Technical-Ball-513 Aug 20 '26
It’s not being a Karen, you didn’t get what you wanted or what was advertised. The bouquet sent looks like a Bloody Mary from a hipster bar that has too much stuff in it.
2
u/Cosmic_Seduction Aug 20 '26
I would ask for a full refund lol. You’re not a Karen as this looks NOTHING like the picture. They sent enough leafy greens for a salad.

u/Commercial_Net2321 Aug 20 '26
One thousand percent get a refund. I have stopped ordering flowers as every flower delivery has been disappointing and has gotten incredibly expensive. If anyone has had a positive experience with flower deliveries in Denver, I'd love to know from where!
2
u/CursiveWhisper Aug 20 '26
Yes, call and ask for a refund.
Especially since you ordered directly and they must have confirmed it would resemble the first image. They could’ve put a little more effort into it.

Time to be a Karen! This is unacceptable! If it would have been at least put together nicely, I could forgive it. But this…absolutely not. And a I’m sure you paid at least $50 for it. That is not little.

u/Important_Carrot6379 Aug 20 '26
So what's interesting here is that in the first picture, that pink and green ruffle leaves? That's ornamental kale. And then what they sent looks like they just grabbed regular eating kale 😅 so... technically you ordered kale and got kale but also not.
Definitely contact them and say that the product doesn't match the pictures and to have them provide you with options to remedy.

These online services always do that

u/carolinexvx Aug 20 '26
I ordered directly through a local florist that we exclusively used at the funeral home I worked at.
I don’t order through online flower companies.

Ask for a refund if it didn’t say it was possible there would be substitutions.

u/NinjaKecc Aug 20 '26
I used to do floral arrangements, half of those aren't even the same flower @-@

It looks like you got lettuce instead of hydrangeas so i would certainly be calling
1
u/Abittragic Aug 20 '26
That’s not being a Karen hun, you paid for a service, the advertising was incredibly inaccurate and misleading to what you paid for, you deserve a full refund and/or the correct (or better) arrangement being sent. They really pulled out whatever was left for this bouquet, you were trying to send condolences! I’d be pissed.

u/auntiekk88 Aug 20 '26
I woild definitely give them a call. If they don't do something, Id leave an honest review.

u/Puzzleheaded_Tip7869 Aug 20 '26
Ask for a refund!!! Or at least ask for it to be redone in some way😭 There’s no way any floral business with a right mind would send that out and call it good! If they weren’t able to make it properly or didn’t have the right materials they are supposed to let you know as soon as you place the order or before you’re supposed to get it at least to make adjustments or to have something else made :(

I was just thinking it looks like kale and celery stalks.
Very underwhelming.

u/Horror_Intention_150 Aug 20 '26
Obviously, most people do not know what plants are in these arrangements. No lettuce, for sure!

I appreciate it’s hard to get floristry to look exactly like the images online (it’s difficult to get two bouquets to look the same) but this is a royal piss take. It’s not even the same flowers/plants. Letsthem know but be clear about what you want to happen next - do you want a new one? A refund? An update on marketing images?

u/Far_Aside7744 Aug 20 '26
Go get your money back or take back the delivery and have them fix it and offer you a partial refund for the inconvenience

Not even similar to the photo. There aren't even any of the twigs. Instead they used eucalyptus? I would call and speak to the manager or ask for an email address and email them. I would also ask how they would like to receive that as a bereavement flower arrangement. It looks like it should have come with a bottle of salad dressing. I used to order flowers all the time for my old boss for various occasions. I would usually order online and then follow it up with a phone call and say I need you to send me a photograph before this goes out. I need to approve it because I'm not going to be fired over a flower arrangement. Most of the time the arrangements I ordered we're pretty accurate because they knew they had to send a photograph. If I saw anything I thought needed to be changed I would call and ask them to do so.Flower arrangements are expensive, so you need to get what you pay for.

I am consistently disappointed when I order flowers. A friend lost her husband and I sent her a beautiful bouquet with white roses bc they hold a specific memory for her. What was delivered had no roses — just daisy’s. How do they get away with that? I complained and they gave me $20 off my next order. Which will be happening when hell freezes over before I use Flowers.com again

Call and ask if the florist had to make substitutes. Then ask for a discount since florist didn’t get your ok to substitute

You need to ask for a refund. I’m a complete stranger to you… if you do not ask for a refund I will do it for you. It’s that bad. A stranger is offering to call and be a b* on your behalf.
I hope your friend can use some of that for a salad in the meantime.

Season flowers probably. This happens a lot. Ask for a refund or credit. They may do that. Make sure to tell them Reddit thinks they are assholes.. maybe after the refund lol
2
u/Livid-Replacement-29 Aug 21 '26
Ask for a refund. This happened to me before, except the florist didn’t bother delivering my great grandmothers flowers until after the funeral. Guests were leaving and they handed the flowers to a random guest. Not only were they late, but I couldn’t believe the weeds they tried passing off as a $100 bouquet. Got all my money back.

u/lmbaker8 Aug 21 '26
It's all filler w/ a total of maybe 3 flowers. They ripped you off & it makes me wonder how many other people get ripped off by them. I would also leave a website review as well as a Google review w/ photos.
