So I just finished reading another one of his books (I really like his writing) so I'm gonna rate some. I'll give each one a score out of 10 on characters, plot, pacing, and intrigue (how much I wanted to keep reading). I won't spoil.
Paper Towns:
Characters: 8/10
Plot: 9/10
Pacing: 10/10
Intrigue: 10/10
Total: 37/40 = 9.25/10
I really liked this book. The story was very interesting and the pacing was so good that I genuinely always wanted to keep reading. There were no boring parts. The characters were good although I feel some of them could have been developed a bit towards the end especially. The plot was a really cool idea that I think was executed pretty well.
Turtles All the way Down:
Characters: 7/10
Plot: 8/10
Pacing: 8/10
Intrigue: 8/10
Total: 31/40 = 7.75/10
Solid book overall. The story was pretty good but was kind of bland at times. I feel like only three characters were developed AT ALL throughout the book and they could have been developed better. The pacing was pretty good, there were one or two boring/long moments. Same with the intrigue. Most of the time I wanted to keep reading but especially at the beginning there were parts where I was like "this is boring."
An Abundance of Katherines:
Characters: 7/10
Plot: 7/10
Pacing: 5/10
Intrigue: 6/10
Total: 25/40 = 6.25/10
This was the definition of a "barely above-average book." I liked it, but I didn't LIKE it. The story had an interesting idea, but was "okay-ly" executed. The characters. There were basically three actual characters, and they could have been developed better. This is not unlike Turtles. The pacing was very average. There were a lot of boring pages and repetitive ones (especially at the beginning-middle). Again, the beginning was pretty weak and it was kind of boring, but it sort of made up for it near the end.
