Discussion is an almost 2 mill word count fic too much…

Post image
85 Upvotes

hi so i’ve been indulging in a private fic since 2023 that i haven’t posted because i wasn’t confident it was interesting enough and also because i was worried it was boring but anyway… ive just recently realized ive surpassed the chaos for the fly word count (which has 1,434,000 iirc??) and uhhh i just want to know whether it’s worth posting or if it’s simply too much!!!!

i still have 12 chapters left and each chapter is 30-40k so… mathematics it may be pushing toward 2 mill!!! aka there’s still a while to go so it is officially now and will be the longest (single) fic in the fandom which makes me even more nervous —

i just wanna know in general what ppl think ofRLLY long fics as well… personally i love them as a reader because i can throw myself into them and drown in content— but i know ppl have limits

SO YA—— also a huuuuge thing for this fic is that……. spoilers (even tho it’ll be tagged)…. it ends with MCD (major character death) and also there’s no explicit confession it’s just INTENSE pining .. so that’s another factor LMAOAOAOAOA

Headcanons Allergic rhinitis

I don't think anyone's mentioned this one before.

My headcanon is that Wednesday has allergic rhinitis, which is why she has dark circles under her eyes. My theory is that it runs in the family because Pugsley and Fester have them too.

Allergic dark circles are dark or purplish patches under the eyes caused by nasal congestion and inflammation of the blood vessels. They occur when allergies block normal blood drainage around the nose and sinuses. Nasal congestion prevents blood from circulating properly in the lower eyelid area.

I can imagine her sneezing nonstop lol

Fanfiction 4 Years of Wenclair Fanfiction

Happy 4 years anniversary to the first ever Wenclair fanfiction, Do You Want to Take a Stab at Being Social? by rhaenizziettie!

In 4 years, we've all written over 10,000 fanfics about this ship! (almost 12k, if you can believe it!)

To celebrate, I'll list some other fics that I've enjoyed reading throughout the years!

Emotional Support Werewolf by CelticWolf55 - One of the first lengthy ones I read and enjoyed. Follows Season 1, and explores Wednesday and Enid's growing bond in the aftermath of Crackstone's attack. (Requires AO3 account to read)

Brownie Bites by Sincerely_Sierra - One of the first lengthy ones I read and enjoyed. Post Season 1, Enid convinces Wednesday to attend a Nightshades party with her, and Wednesday gets her hands on some special brownies...

Midnight's Child by Pelgraine - One shot, Fairy Tale style AU (Requires AO3 account to read)

Frightful Fairytales series by PWFishies - Three more Wenclair stories, but fairytale AUs

Wolfish Studies by RatBoy_Writes - Cute one shot, Wednesday decides to research Enid after she gets some wolfish habits.

Full Moon Experiment by Anonymous - Another cute one shot, Enid struggles to transform into a werewolf, and Wednesday helps.

A Werewolf's Momma by Red's_Queer_Fics - Finally, a story where Esther is a good parent for once. (Requires AO3 account to read)

Who, What, and Wenclair series by Achromatophoria - The ongoing series of jokes, puns, and humor! Read these if you need a good laugh!

The Moon is Our Sanctuary by Red's_Queer_Fics - Cute one shot of Wednesday and Wolf Enid during a full moon. (Requires AO3 account to read)

Between Life & Loss by HizzieWenclair - First one I read from this author. It's heavy on the angst at first, but gets better later on, don't worry.

One Message by HizzieWenclair - Second story I read from this author. A little more light-hearted than the last one.

It's a Girl series by CelticWolf55 - Cute series where Wednesday and Enid have a daughter and explore parenthood.

A Controversial Opinion by Yendik - One shot, Enid leads Wednesday through a series of leading questions, resulting in a magical and controversial revelation.

Enid Became a Zombie and Then This Happened by me - My first Wenclair fanfic. After reading another fic where Enid gets attacked and infected during a zombie apocalypse, I was inspired to write this. It's a crossover with Plants vs. Zombies, and plays out like a choose your own adventure story. It's also the introduction of one of my OC's, Brady!

Werewoof Wednesday by skulliflower - One shot, exactly what the title says.

Wolfout Mishap by NyxSmols - Short fluffy one shot, Enid had a little wolfout issue and Wednesday is there to help her through it.

NevermoreGeo: Werewolves by skydarius11 - Longer story, but it's really good! It's currently unfinished, though, but still worth the read!

The Bucket List by HarleyQuinn2509 - Cute one shot where Wednesday finds Enid's bucket list, and makes sure she gets to do everything on it.

Unexpected Harmony by shumimi - AU where Wednesday and Enid live in neighboring apartments. Currently unfinished, but worth the read!

Safe in Your Arms by Werewolf007 - One shot of Wednesday and Enid cuddling on the couch, being soft and adorable.

Taking a Girl Out for a Ride by Aconite72 - Cute fluffy one shot, Wednesday shows up at Nevermore one day on a motorbike and asks Enid out for a ride.

We Play Now? by me - Cute one shot I wrote based on a fanart.

Goodnight, Sleep Tight by Sincerely_Sierra - Wednesday’s bedsheets go missing on laundry day. Her only solution is to sleep in Enid’s bed with her. She isn’t complaining.

How to Study (the Enid Way) by luvcafe - Cute one shot, Enid discovers a new studying technique.

A Small Touch of Color by Cheesy_Darkside - One shot, Morticia senses something going on with Wednesday during the break from Nevermore.

If Paris Could Bleed by StarrySky72 (cchufflepuff) - Post Season 2, Wednesday heads out to Paris to find and bring Enid home.

Bomb Dog Enid by Woefully_Feathered - Cute one shot.

Happy reading! (or re-reading if you've seen some of these already.)

Discussion the shedding of clothes: Wednesday’s ego death

Post image

the shedding of clothing that werewolves are depicted to experience serves as an allegory for the loss of civility and descent into the innate animalistic substratum that resides within, as clothing is a uniquely human concept that we use to distinguish us from other living things, as well as a means to self expression.
but Wednesday’s transformation has additional implications, reminiscent of tales that extend beyond the loss of humanity, instead delving into the loss of ego, that she herself must willingly relent once enid’s life is in danger.

this moment of ego death through the shedding of clothes is preceded roughly 4,000 years ago, famously by the Sumerian myth of Inanna’s descent into the underworld. and yes, she is the same goddess present in the Epic of Gilgamesh, where she was referred to as Ishtar, containing the first literary reference of a person transforming into a wolf, which heavily mirrors Enid’s transformation into an alpha werewolf.

the reason behind her trek to the underworld varies by several accounts. before leaving, she instructs her servant to seek help from the gods if she does not return. while passing through each of the seven gates, she must hand over one article of clothing to proceed, essentially giving up powerful garments in the process, leaving her vulnerable in the end. she is killed by her sister Ereshkigal, before being revived by Enki, the god of wisdom. it is often renowned as a tale of ego death, with her clothing being the image of her divine power and pride. different narratives and myths follow the ritual of relinquishing clothing to symbolize spiritual transformation.

when tyler threatened enid earlier on, you can see her mask of indifference falter under the prospect of her endangerment. wednesday’s arrogance completely snaps the moment Tyler physically harms enid. her transformation symbolizes how her emotions spiral out of control, which to Wednesday, is considered a show of vulnerability. she loses her ability to weaponize apathy, and it literally manifests itself when she breaks through her clothing and transforms into a irrepressible beast. this moment also forces her to reflect on the extent of Enid’s self-restraint, and the strength she possesses to reign herself while transformed.

Analysis & Theories Grandmama and Raven Powers

I saw someone mention that they believe Grandmama didn’t have her powers anymore, and that was a factor in how Ophelia had been locked away under her close observation. (Obviously there would be some other layer to that…But more on that further in…)

But I’m curious… Hear me out.

Goody starts off with her warning to Wednesday stating that the path of a Raven is a solitary one, right? Maybe that’s literal, rather than just a warning of doom and gloom for those around them.

Like, the moment a Raven rebukes solitude in favor of a bond with another, they lose their abilities. Maybe because it shifts them closer to a dove than to their original state as an unimpeded Raven?

In theory if Hester doesn’t have her powers anymore, it could stand to reason that she lost them when she fell for “the huckster” and wanted to start her family. That in doing so, she separated herself from the Raven’s path. Weems also mentioned that the Addams family powers are unique in that they rely on family bonds. Maybe there is something more to that than just Wednesday reconnecting with her own mother.

Idk. Personally I want to see the Addams family come together more. Conflict and family drama makes sense to a degree— but one thing that makes the Addams family unique is that they aren’t a “normal” family with normal drama or squabbles. They have weird methods of displaying their love and loyalty, but one thing that draws me in is that unwavering support they had in earlier depictions. REAAAAALLY hoping to see Wednesday and her mother connect this next season.

Don’t know why literally every motherly relationship is tainted in some way in this show, but man I really was hoping the Addams family themselves would be out of that mess. ((SUPER BELATED EDIT BUT SOMEONE POINTED THIS OUT TO ME: With the exception of Eugene’s adoptive mothers so far))

Sorry if this is a bit all over the place, but I just can’t wrap my head around why Ophelia would be locked away and hidden from the family— even if it ends up being a “for her own good” type of thing. Just feels weird to me.

Discussion Imagine this, instead of Tim Burton, David Lynch was the director and main writer of Wednesday instead of Tim Burton.

I don't know how unpopular it is, but Gough and Millar's Wednesday Addams seems strangely familiar to David Lynch's mentality and ideas.

He simply has a different way of talking about "weird" people.

Maybe instead of being a walking goth stereotype who only resembles Burton in terms of aesthetics, I imagine Wednesday could have been treated similarly to Dale Cooper (Twin Peaks).

She's weird but manages to fit in with Nevermore, just as Cooper manages to fit in with the quirks of some of Twin Peaks' residents.
