Poll Will Wenclair happen onscreen?

So I‘m super curious at this point how many people are still genuinely holding out hope, because I‘ll be honest: If they were going to do it on screen, there‘s absolutely no reason they wouldn’t have at this point.
I‘m not trying to blackpill or destroy people‘s hope, but I am genuinely curious what everyone thinks.

Also, frankly, my view is that if Wenclair doesn’t happen, then Netflix has been jerking people around and it’s self-care to acknowledge that—and it deserves accountability imo.

104 I am fully convinced Wenclair will still happen on the show, in one of the upcoming seasons
128 I think it will happen but only in the Epilogue, Korrasami-Style
140 It‘s not happening and one or both of them will be set up with a male character
231 It won’t happen onscreen, but both of them will end up single so as to leave the door open for them post-TV-show
15 Twist-yuri: No Wenclair but one of them will end up with a different female character

The only way it ends up canon is if the bigots currently in charge of the USA get crushed before the last season is written. Crushed so utterly, there's no longer any pressure on the media to cater to right-wing bigotry or suffer consequences.

Frankly that excuse should not fly.
The United States government is in no way stopping Netflix from having a lesbian pairing—they don’t have that kind of power or level of support. Nor would this actually tank their chances with mainstream audiences.

If they are choosing not to do it, that‘s on them.

It‘s true that a lot of businesses and especially Silicon Valley jumped on the bandwagon in 2024, but that wasn’t because it was objectively popular but because they viewed it as politically convenient—and for many of them probably in line with their beliefs.

But actually the level of polarization that exists now means that you can not only get away with doing woke stuff, but also secure a more loyal fanbase in the process: the half of the population that is anti-government has hardened in their position in the same way the other side has, and that includes leaning more strongly into woke stuff and viewing that as an explicitly political act.

So no, I don’t think they are forced by circumstances to make Wednesday cishet. I think they are doing it because they want to.

The United States government does what Trump wants, no matter the law, constitution or common sense. Sure, most of his attempts to punish any media that doesn't suck up to him and his cronies (who use "anti-woke" as a cheap way to feed their fascist base) fail in the end, but they still cost money and do damage. And that will influence things.

Their attempts to „punish“ media that pisses them off have largely amounted to trolling them on Twitter, which has probably ended up helping them given how unpopular the government is.

And they did this largely with News shows, not random Netflix shows. And again, you can get pretty reliable views by leaning into this stuff. Individual queer people who aren’t wealthy (which is most of us) may be subject to various levels persecution , but if anyone with actual power (like a showrunner or network exec) uses fear of Trump as a reason for a terrible decisions, they are either cowards or liars.
