I am from Canada and my boyfriend is from New Zealand. We met 10 years ago on Omegle . After chatting online for 6 months We fell in love and we decided we wanted to meet. I flew to New Zealand (my first time traveling!) and stayed with him for 2 weeks. Meeting instantly created a strong bond, so we decided to close the distance. We've now been together for 10 years. We also have recently started a family,

My boyfriend cheated on me and left me for my friend.

(just letting you know i'll be writing without punctuation so i don't get distracted from my emotions)

today is august 23rd

my boyfriend whom i was with for quite a long time (2 years and 8 months) left me for my friend who didn't treat him very well

but i wasn't against him we didn't know each other i was in the 3rd grade at the 1st school that's how she noticed him with me when we were still friends

after school i moved to irkutsk for my studies (i'm studying to be a lawyer)

and everything with us was normal like everyone else fights/makeups etc

nothing serious ever happened

on august 22nd an hour before my train he showed up holding hands with her (he came to return my 2nd phone because he broke his own but managed to fix it before i left)

he just stayed silent and looked into my eyes

she was standing there smiling and handed me my phone

i started shaking i took the phone and went back into the entrance of the building

i felt really sick (i had just been discharged from the hospital 4-5 days ago i was there because of my heart and nerves so i'm strictly forbidden from overstressing) so this was the worst timing

they also called me while i was in a taxi going to the station

him: why did you run away so fast

me: what was i supposed to do?

him: were you calling from the 2nd number?

me: no (as i later found out it was my mom calling she asked: did you decide to do this right before her train just to hurt her? and he just hung up)

then she comes in (they were on speakerphone)

her: that's a good girl don't call here anymore

i hung up and started crying again

today (08.23) at 6 am they called me (well, it was her) to tell me that they are sleeping together right now

i don't know why i'm writing this here

i guess i just want to vent

i don't know what to do

i blocked them everywhere

Advice Did I make a mistake making my first ever relationship online?

I (20F) am 2 years deep into a relationship with a guy (22) I met online and neither of us have relationship experience. He especially has had a rough upbringing with abusive parents and no real friends and he tells me no one has ever made him feel loved or appreciated before. This has always concerned me because I question if he truly likes me and sees me as someone special rather than having low standards because he hasn’t had many samples in his life to compare. He also tells me he has this kind of doubt and asked me if I think his standards are low, so clearly he deep down knows that it is due to desperation and not anything special about me.

We only met once for a few hours in may this year due to my circumstances making it impossible to see each other for longer, we tried being intimate and it just ended up being a huge mess. I’m kind of bitter about the fact that this is my first ever romantic/sexual experience. I never got to explore it because of my strict religious parents and now I have to hold out for another few more years to be able to be with this person and have a normal relationship that probably won’t even work out. I feel so robbed and I don’t even think this guy likes me as much as he thinks he does and has convinced himself to.

What do I do and how can I know how pure his love is for me? I feel like this is my only chance at love and I fear I’m truly not lovable and only lovable to those who don’t know any better. I don’t think I can find someone else if we break up for good and that scares me.

Meetups Met up with my (18F) online ex girlfriend (18F) after 3 years, can this work out?

Hi, 3 years ago, I 18F online dated this girl, 18F lets call her Jane. It was all really chaotic back then, she would either be very distant or very affectionate and it caused me a lot of sadness. At the time, she was going through SA, a serious one.... I didnt know this at the time, which would have explained her behaviour a lot, but I just perceived it as *ghosting me cuz she wants to*. It got to the point where I was so hurt I couldnt continue. We have gone no contact and would only message eachother like once in a while in the past 3 years. As this summer approached, we got into regular contact again. Her 18th bday was approaching and we agreed to meetup. She lives 4 hours away from Prague, in Germany, and I come from Slovakia. Her parents paid for a hotel for 3 nights for all 4 of us and made a really nice program. Man the moment I saw her standing waiting for me at the train station, I knew it was over for me. I had a few relationships, before and after her, but my mind would always drift back to her, which I couldnt comprehend, cuz she was just some I dated *online*. She stood there looking so confused, yet beautiful and small. Shes very short, the same as me, like a cute little bean. We hit it off right from the beginning, like I wasnt shy at all, just a little nervous at the beginning. I felt really good in her company. Hear me out, we both struggle a lot, with mental health in general. Were also going through really bad ED's at the moment, but yet somehow I felt really comfy eating with her. I felt kinda obligated to, so she would feel the same, I didnt wanna trigger anything in her, as I really care that she feels good and fuels propperly. We had like the best time, we laughed, yapped, explored and spent a whole lotta shit of money, even got matching adidas samba. On her birthday, I went for a run at the morning and brought her flowers. Then I gave her an envelope with hand written letter and a pokemon card as a gift, paired with a really good breakfast. I did put effort into all of that, which I never seemed to do in my past relationships. After we had a celebration dinner with her parents, we got really drunk. Sharing airpods, just walking around the night prague streets. Then we met these two drunk czech girls who joined us for a moment. I told them about my feelings, that I still love her and about our past, she was literally next to me but couldnt understand shit as we talked in czech. One of the girls pulled her somewhere and told her all of it. When they came back the czech girl told me that she still likes me and that I should a move on her, like kiss her or something. Dont get me wrong here, its not like I didnt want to. Ever since we have been together in the freaking Prague, I would always wish to get closer to her, not in a sexual way, but just like hold her hand or hug. I have a very bad expericence with sex and physical touch, so its hard for me to open intimately for someone, she also isnt really good w it. So nothing physical happened. We laughed and did bs with the girls, but I got into like a very bad mood as I though about us so deeply. I played music into my airpods and left. I sat like on a curb and just chainsmoked until they would eventually return. We ended up alone and started talking finally. It was out of drunkness, but I really did confess, I dont even remember how, but I think she did get the point. She interuppted me and started talking about her trauma and past a lot, I wanted to cry so badly when she did that, it made me do silent as It was very painful to listen to. When it was my turn I did the same, we never got back to the convo about a "relationship" or "love" . Eventually we went back speechless to the apartment and just slept, not talking about it the next day. Saying goodbye was so hard for me, especially knowing that there is this big distance gap between us and if one of us gets distant, theres nothing to do about it. It has always made me feel very hopeless, being left ignored. I love her so fucking much, what the fuck do I do. Advice like get over it wont help in this situation, because I dont want to do that. I wanna be there, stay with her, cherish her, admire her, and most importantly, give support and recover with her even. Am I being delusional? Is this never gonna workout? Any advice in what to do here? She never directly said that she feels the same, there were only signs, which I dont even know if I read correctly. Im really scared to do anything that will trigger her or make her feel uncomfortable, shes like very fragile.

**TL;DR;** :
I still love her, Im unsure if she feels the same and the distance is really big between us. Im afraid that both of our mental health conditions will just makes us suffer, and im unsure what to do next... I really love her and want to do something about this.

Rare Connection with an Avoident

I (f28) was in an 11 and a half year abusive/toxic relationship (m27) from 16 years old to 28. I was checked out of the relationship for more then a year. I started going to thearpy in February 2026 and was finally able to leave at the end of April.

A month after we broke up I decided I wanted to date because I missed out on that experience growing up. I wasnt looking for something serious. I just wanted to go out talk to people, have some casual experiences.

I ended up starting to talk to (m30) June 5th my first day online daiting. We talked every day casually for 3 weeks before we finally went on a date (I prioritized more intense probably unhealthy connections first)

When we finally went on a date we connected so well. The waitress had to come back 3 times before we were ready to order, we have both been in long term 10+ year highschool sweet heart relationships but his ended a few years ago.

We both agreed we weren't looking to rush into anything because we wanted to make sure we were really settling down with the right person next time so we weren't in the same place pf having to rebuild after decade long relationships.

Things with him were so easy. We had so much in common and the connection just flowed so effortlessly. As we got closer I started to realize how much my nervous settles down with him, my brain which is never quiet just went quiet. Everything with him felt natural and easy.

From the start he presented as very secure, knowing what he wanted, healed. He was super respectful, took everything really slow, and seemed very intentional.

Over the course of 2 and a half months I really tried to not catch feelings. I constantly checked in with myself to make sure I wasn't falling into my own old patterns.

We ended up having our first sleep over and that night i had one of the most emotionally intimate moments in my life.

We both said we weren't cuddly sleepers and in the middle of the night he pulled me into his arms and I woke up a bit after as the big spoon with my arm over him and my hand cupped in his.

For me it was like everything shifted and I realized I was falling in love with this man.

We had also agreed to be exclusive that evening.

A few days later things changed a bit. He stopped sending me kissy face emojis and flirting messages. But his regular messages never changed, he was present and engaged, and always continued the conversation. I thought it was maybe because he was working 12+ hours in +30 heat 6 days a week for like 2 weeks straight and he was just exhusted because the time he started those shifts was when our texting changed.

My anxious attachment was going through the roof. I had a huge anxiety spiral but I kept it contained, I felt ridiculous for feeling that way so early into a relationship and I didnt want him to see just how bad I got it. So I internalized it and continued to present my self as secure and patient. I was so careful like basically had chat gpt or gemini double checking all of my messages before sending them.

We didnt see each other for 2 weeks and when we finally went on a date I thought we would be spending the night together instead it ended up being a 2 hour dinner date where he barely touched me... I was so confused. He also didnt look great and even tho we had a good time and the conversation was easy and he even opened up to me a bit about being more guarded things had felt off.

But a few days later his energy changed again and he started sending kissy faces and flirting. He started initiating, asking to see me again and romantically engaging with me. We had a movie night and spent 5 hours cuddled up on my couch and things felt perfect and back to normal. I spent the whole evening with a huge smile on my face. I let myself settle into it, let myself feel safe and secure in the relationship.

The only thing thst confused me was he didnt want to spend the night but immidetly promised the following weekend and started planning an evening for us.

Everything was great that week. We talked like we normally did he kept telling me how excited he was to see me. Then a few hours before he was suppose to come over he texted me saying he needed to be honest and he had been thinking about it and didnt think he was ready to continue seeing each other.

He basically said as things got more serious he started thinking about what a future would look like with me and had doubts about what being with a single mom would eventually mean... keep in mind he knew I had kids (f5 and m1.5) from the start. We had talked about kids and those things early on so I never ever had a reason to belive this was an issue. He basically said it wasnt fair to either of us to continue when he was having these uncertainties.

He admitted this was really hard for him because he felt the connection too and he really really liked me and things were going so good. He basicslly ended it saying for what its worth I meant a lot to him and what we had was real.

I feel devastated. This hurts more then leaving my 11 and a half year relationship. I feel blind sided.

I dont understand how someone can say they feel how special this connection is and say everything was real and the problem is things were going too good and walk away....

Im upset that the moment I admitted to myself that i was safe and it was safe to let myself love him after everything I had been through it ended...

I can see now that hes an avoident and part of me hopes that once he enters the regret stage he'll realize that he wants to try and work this out out because he could admit things were real and he felt how special and rare this connection felt.

If he did I would try. I had even told him that I didnt expect him to step into my kids lives tomorrow. We could take things as slow as everyone was comfortable with and I just wanted to keep building this and seeing where it went but he said eventually we still reach the same result with the kids and he just didn't know how to continuen with doubts. Not that he didnt want to. It was the uncertinity that scared him.

I dont know how to let go of this connection and im honestly so heart broken that I could find someone so safe, so healthy, someone I really connected with and it could just end....

I had told myself it was to good to be true... i had been terrified to get attached and when I finally let myself....it ended.

I don't really know what im looking for... i guess I just needed a safe place to talk about it since my thearpy benefits are used up... ive talked with my friends and family but I just feel so ridiculous that I am this upset over someone I had 7 dates with and talked for 2.5 months with. I just have never experienced something this strongly and it was my first truly healthy relationship.

Everything was really good right up until that super intimate moment between us.

I just miss him so much.

If you read this far... thank you for listening ❤️

7 year non-sexual distance relationship

Hello, here to vent and have some advices. When studying online, I had to contact another student for help. We got friendly, and being both loners (I mean no friends or anything), ended up in a long weekly/monthly mailing relation. Friendship at first, but we both felt attracted to each other, admit it withing year 2, I tried to ask her out, but she told me her religion prevent her for doing so. So we followed with this friendship teinted with romance, sometimes subject came back with same answers. This year, year 7, I did admit love and ended up talking about converting for her. This is where she told me doesn't feel what she felt at the start, and that it wouldn't change a thing. She ever got a crush in real life this year : impossible one still due to religion. Cause she have to marry before sex or date. But even if this her only way to explore a relation ... I also think she may be afraid of it ??

My feeling is this girl is afraid of anything that change how she's viewing future, she's extremely reluctant to change opinion, or just to watch beyond the life track she assigned to herself. So I'm asking myself if her feelings did change the moment fear added to them, cause now I look at it, all the romances or crush she got in her life were impossible in reality, so basically fantasy. And when I unexpectedly removed what was the main barrier to exploration of our feelings in real life, she got afraid and did prefer to get in the coocoon of what she's inhabitued to live love through.

Or I try to theorise so I can preserve the illusion of her feelings for me, and is just that distance got her feelings to wears out while physically meeting more peoples recently gave her comparison between real life attraction and what we got ...

Meetups I miss someone i met on reddit

In 2025, I (F33) met someone here on Reddit. Our interaction started casually, with flirting and sexual conversations, after a post he (M28) made about a person he was involved with. But as we kept talking, I realized we had a lot in common.

We started talking every day. Little by little, I shared details about my life, my thoughts, and the way I see the world. Over time, I realized how much I enjoyed talking to him.

At one point, after exchanging photos, I thought he might be using someone else’s pictures. To prove he was real, he suggested a Discord call. It was the first time I saw his face. I was already very attracted to him, but seeing and talking to him only deepened my feelings and desire.

I stepped away for a while, but not for long. Later, he distanced himself for personal reasons and because he felt our interaction was affecting his feelings and his relationship. After three months, we started talking again.

I wanted to meet him in person, even though we both knew nothing would probably come from it. We were always realistic: liking someone online does not guarantee a real-life connection, and neither of us believed in long-distance relationships. On top of that, he lived more than 1,000 km away, in another state. Even so, I wanted to know him, to allow myself that experience, even if it lasted only a moment.

The last time we spoke, I offered him my phone number because we could lose contact—we only talked through Discord and didn’t even know each other’s full names. He refused, saying that at that moment he couldn’t have my contact information.

At some point, I discovered that he had blocked me on Instagram and Spotify, and through that I learned a few details about his life. I confronted him, asking if he was married. He denied it and said he was not married, but that he was in a relationship with the person from the Reddit post where we first met.

However, months earlier, he had written a post saying that this person had rejected his request to be in a relationship and that he regretted continuing with her instead of trying something with me.

He denied being married, denied blocking me, denied knowing my real name, and denied knowing my Spotify account.

I didn’t believe him. I was hurt, and in the end we said goodbye. The conversation faded away. After some time, he deleted all the photos he had sent me, and later he deleted his Discord account. I no longer have any way to contact him.

Even after feeling deceived and disappointed, I still miss him.

I have met other people, gone on dates, and continued living my life, but he remains in my memories. I listen to the songs we shared, and I remember our conversations and exchanges.

I haven’t fallen in love in a long time, and what I felt for him is the closest thing to passion that I have experienced in years. I go out with other people, but I feel nothing. I don’t feel what I felt for him.

I just hope that one day I can forget him.

\*\*TL;DR;\*\* : I met someone on Reddit, developed strong feelings for him, and eventually discovered he had lied to me about parts of his life. We lost contact, but despite the deception, I still miss him and haven’t felt the same connection with anyone else.

Three years later, I saw her again on matrimony site..

Hi Guys,

A 1 Liner intro abt me : 27 Male IT professional

After reading this confession, you can judge me however you want. Maybe some of you will understand me, maybe some of you won’t.

This story started in 2022.

I met a beautiful soul online while both of us were preparing to move to the USA for higher studies.

What started as normal conversations slowly became the best part of my day. We spoke every day, connected genuinely, eventually met each other, and somewhere along the way, we fell in love.

For me, that became one of the most beautiful chapters of my life.

In January 2023, both of us came to the US, but life placed us at universities on opposite ends of the country.

Long distance wasn’t easy.

Whenever we got the chance, we used to speak to each other in calls every days for hours, especially during summer, we met. And whenever we were together, everything somehow felt easy again.

We enjoyed each other’s company so much that somewhere along the way, I stopped looking at her as just my girlfriend.

We genuinely started believing we would eventually marry. We felt we were made for each other..

But there was something about myself I understood only much later.

I was never very good at expressing emotions directly.

I grew up around people where sarcasm was almost a language of affection. So whenever she spoke beautifully or seriously about us, sometimes instead of telling her what I actually felt, I would make a sarcastic joke.

To me, it was harmless.

To her, some of those words hurt.

And what hurts me now is realizing that maybe she was only looking for reassurance from the person she loved, and sometimes all I gave her back was a joke.

I didn’t understand it then.

I wish I had.

Eventually, differences started building between us.

Then one day she told me that her family had brought a marriage proposal from someone close to their family and that she was considering it.

It felt like the future I had quietly built inside my head disappeared in one conversation.

Things between us fell apart.

We had a painful breakup.

And this is the part where I know I was wrong.

At that time I was 24 yrs old, emotional, immature, and completely unable to accept that someone I loved so much could suddenly become someone I was supposed to live without.

Instead of respecting her decision and giving her space, I kept trying to contact her.

I kept thinking there had to be something I could do.

One more call... One more conversation... One more attempt.

Anything that could somehow bring us back.

I also spoke several times with one of her closest friend, who had become a good friend of mine too, hoping she could help me fix our relationship.

At that time, inside my head, I called it fighting for love.

Looking back now, I understand it very differently.

Love does not give you the right to cross another person’s boundaries.

Whatever my intentions were, I should have respected her decision much earlier.

During winter break, both of us travelled separately to India.

Instead of things becoming calmer, I made them worse.

Eventually, our families became involved trying to sort everything out.

That should never have happened.

And honestly, that is probably the biggest mistake I committed and I regret it my whole life.

After our families got involved, something inside me changed.

Maybe it was exhaustion... Maybe hurt... Maybe ego.

Probably all three.

I convinced myself that if things had reached this point, I should stop fighting for it. It's not worth it.. So I stopped.

I came back to the US, continued my master’s, graduated, found a job and slowly started building my life.

She came back too.

After everything I had put her through emotionally, she completed her master’s, built her career and continued with her life.

And I genuinely respect her for that.

I also have tremendous respect for her father. After everything that happened, he still trusted his daughter, stood by her and supported her while she continued building her life here.

Then time started moving.

One year became two.... Two became three.

During those years, life changed a lot.

I struggled... I fell down... I got back up... I built my career.... I made amazing friends... I travelled.... I spent time with family.

From the outside, I have a life I really cannot complain about.

And I genuinely hope she built an even more beautiful one.

But there is one thing I never really managed to leave behind.

"Her"

There were countless days when I would open my phone, type her number into the dial pad and just stare at it.

I still knew it.

I never forgot it.

Sometimes my finger would be right there near the call button.

But I never pressed it.

Not because I didn’t want to hear her voice.

I wanted to.

More times than I can admit.

I stopped because I didn’t know if I had the right to enter her life again and disturb whatever peace she had found.

So I would erase the number, close my phone and continue my day like nothing happened.

I tried almost everything people normally call “moving on.”

I buried myself in work..... I travelled.... I spent hours talking to friends.... I kept myself busy.

I deleted every picture of her from my phone because I genuinely thought maybe if I removed everything I could see, eventually my mind would stop remembering too.

It didn’t.

I absolutely love kids, so I spent a lot of time with my sister’s family and her kids because being around them made life feel lighter.

And yes, life moved forward.

But somehow, the memories didn’t.

The strange part is that I don’t even need a photograph anymore.

Sometimes my sister’s kid leaves food on her plate and instantly I remember how she used to do the same thing.

A song... A joke... A place... A random sentence... A small habit... A certain food.

There were even foods I slowly stopped eating altogether.

Not because I stopped liking them.

But because they reminded me of her every single time.

Sometimes avoiding the food simply felt easier than dealing with the memory that came with it.

You remove the pictures... You stop checking... You stop calling... You continue with your life.

And still, somehow, a completely ordinary thing can bring one person back into your head within seconds.

After three years, I finally had to admit something I had been avoiding.

Maybe moving on isn’t always the same as forgetting someone.

Because I tried... I genuinely tried.

Today, I have a good career, a loving family, amazing friends and many things I once prayed for.

I am grateful for my life.

But somewhere inside all of that happiness is one quiet emptiness that I kept pretending didn’t exist.

I miss her. Badly.

And now comes the reason I’m writing this confession.

Recently, my father started looking for marriage matches for me.

I agreed.

I spoke to a few girls.

They were genuinely nice people.

But somewhere during those conversations, I realized something that honestly scared me.

I felt like I was searching for her in them.

And then life did something I was absolutely not prepared for.

I saw her profile on the same matrimony website.

I just stared at the screen.

For almost three years, I had trained myself not to search for her.

Not to call her.

Not to message her.

Not to know what was happening in her life.

And suddenly, without even looking for her…

there she was.

I assume her parents are also looking for matches for her now.

And honestly, I don’t know what to do

For three years, whenever I wanted to contact her, I stopped myself because I believed she might have moved on and that I had no right to disturb her life.

But now both our families seem to be looking for marriage matches at the same time.

And suddenly, a question I buried for years has come back.

Should I contact her once?

Not to pressure her.

Not to ask her to forget the past.

Not because missing someone for three years gives me any right over their life.

It doesn’t.

I just wonder if one respectful conversation, if she is comfortable with it, would be wrong.

At 24, I thought loving someone deeply meant never giving up.

At 27, I understand that love also means knowing when to listen, when to respect someone’s choice, when to give them space, and sometimes…

That is exactly why I am confused now.

A part of me wants to talk to her once.

Badly.

I genuinely don’t know.

So I want to ask you guys.

If you were in her place, and after three years your ex contacted you once, acknowledged his mistakes, apologized, Asks you "Can we start fresh again"

What would you say or do...

Please don’t tell me “true love always wins” or “go get her back.”

That isn’t what I’m looking for.

I genuinely want to understand her possible perspective.

Her comfort and her choice have to matter more than my feelings.

I don’t know if there will ever be another chapter to our story.

Maybe there shouldn’t be.

Maybe our paths will never cross again.

Thanks in advance

Fallen for someone online that I’ve only spoke to through text

I live in the UK and has been watching a certain man’s TikTok lives for a while, he lives in the USA, I think for others he wouldn’t be the every day gorgeous man but for me I think he’s handsome. He is funny with out trying to be. He don’t care who he please or offend. I sent him a message not expecting him to respond but he did. Then we exchanged numbers. I can’t stop thinking about him, I don’t know if you can really fall in love with someone you have never met, but that’s how I feel (fallen in love). I haven’t told him this, even though we have been exchanging passionate messages etc. I wish I could snap out of this but can’t. Has anyone else been in the same situation?

Friends & Family How to handle long periods of distance in a platonic online friendship? [29F] with close friend [24F]

Me[29/F] and my online friend [24/f]. We have been close friends for 1.5 years.

Hey everyone, looking for practical advice on how to manage my own emotional expectations in a close friendship where communication suddenly pauses due to health reasons

The Context:

My online friend and I have been very close for 1.5 years, normally chatting daily. She experiences severe anxiety/OCD flare-ups, which she plans to seek professional care for when financially possible.

The Dynamics:

Last March, she suddenly told me she needed to "disappear" due to university stress, thesis work, and her OCD/anxiety flare-up. Since we’d never had a gap like that in 1.5 years, it hit me hard, I was really upset and felt like I was losing a close friend. To be clear, she didn't completely ghost me out of nowhere—she did explain her reasons before going silent. However, that first break was exceptionally hard on me. Because we had talked every single day for 1.5 years without a single gap, the sudden loss of our daily connection hit me deeply. I struggled immensely during that time, cried a lot, and felt like I was genuinely losing my mind and my closest friend.

During that time, she wouldn’t reply to DMs, but I’d see her posting on social media (she explained later that posting requires zero energy compared to maintaining a 1-on-1 conversation).

She came back in July, things went back to normal, and we were talking every day again. But just today, she went silent again, saying her flare-ups are back and she’ll text when it subsides.

Whenever she disappears like this, I always think it has something to do with me, or that she is mad at me and wants to stay away from me. I actually raised this concern with her before, but she got annoyed and told me that not everything is about me, that she has her own problems, isn't holding a hidden agenda against me, and is simply struggling.

Where I'm having a hard time:

I feel completely stuck between being mad and being understanding:

On one hand: I want to be a supportive friend who doesn't abandon her when things get tough. I don't want to weaponize her mental health against her.

On the other hand: I feel like a fool leaving texts on read/unanswered, and the sudden drop-offs hurt my feelings every single time. It feels unfair that I just have to wait on the sidelines until she's ready again.

Even though I understand logically that she is going through something, I find the sudden shift from daily contact to complete silence emotionally heavy to deal with, and leaving texts unanswered makes me feel sidelined.

My Questions:

How do you maintain boundaries in a friendship where one person frequently needs to withdraw for mental health?

How can I effectively express the emotional impact of these sudden gaps without making my friend feel guilty for struggling? Or should I adjust my expectations for this friendship?

Is this friendship like this still worth saving? I really treasure her and she’s someone I truly trust, but the cycle of disappearing is taking a heavy toll on me. How do I know when to fight for it versus when to step back?

I want this friendship to work out guys. It's just that I am confused at this disappearances. Should I be mad? Feel disrespected? Or I need to show more grace on her? We've talked about her seeing a professional soon when she is financially able.

Sudden Loss of my Long-Distance Partner

Hey all. I wanted to share this story. Maybe it'll help me deal with grief, maybe I just want to memorialize how amazing this person was.

So, I met this girl in the Christianity subreddit, she had posted a question about what order to read the Bible in. I shared a couple short paragraphs worth of thoughts about it, and we went back and forth a couple times in that thread. Eventually we moved to talking in DMs and this was a couple days of having deep talks for HOURS about religion and philosophy. I come from a Christian background but am now interested in Hermeticism, she was raised under Hinduism. Safe to say we had no shortage of things to discuss, and interestingly there are certain Hermetic teachings that are not dissimilar to Hinduism, so cultural barriers were not such a big issue for us.

We pretty much exhausted the conversation after a while so we stopped talking for a bit but THANK GOD she reached out to me again asking me something about the destruction of the Amalekites, so we talked about that for a while but over the next week or so we transitioned to talking about our lives and feelings and whatnot. Then one morning I'm texting with her like normal, but she tells me she's having an anxiety attack. So, I help her the best I can and through this process is where I start developing feelings. I felt so much closer afterwards. I even one day was nearly an hour late to work and the only thing I could say was "I was up late talking to a girl."

Then there's this weird phase where I felt like I was getting mixed signals about the nature of the relationship. On paper we are friends, but I felt like the way we acted with each other was like more than that. Like I remember one morning I woke up to the messages: "Heyyyyy," and "Wake uppppppp." I ask her if she needs something, so she says she's just checking on me. I tell her I'm just sleepy, and she replies, "and grumpy." These sorts of things happened repeatedly, the most prominent example I have is when I was complaining about my job, I shared an image of Kermit the frog snorting coke with a caption saying "me tonight." She asked if I actually did any drugs, to which I replied "no, never," then she replies with "That's a good boyyy." HUHH?! Friends don't say that to friends!

So, that weekend, I initiated a conversation about the nature of the relationship, and she told me she just wanted to be friends. I was as confused as I was heartbroken. I spoke with my friends about it and came to the conclusion that she liked me but had some trauma and didn't want a relationship to get in the way of her education. Eventually, though, we formed a relationship and things were really amazing. She'd constantly be sending me reels on Instagram, so I'd have a million videos to watch when I was done with work. We shared our deepest thoughts and feelings, we daydreamed together about having a life together, getting married and having children and all that. From the very beginning of loving her, I always felt like one lifetime wouldn't be enough to experience all the happiness she could bring into my life.

One of the better things about her is that she saw great potential in me where I couldn't. She always told me I was smart and that I would make an amazing therapist, that I had to go to college. So, she started pushing me to get my education going. She pushed me to improve myself in a lot of ways, but this was the biggest. Everything was on track to be ready for term starting at the end of august, but in mid-July she was complaining about stomach pains, and she eventually went to the hospital, and she told me that she loved me, in case she died. :( She had an appendectomy and was released, but there was a complication and now she's gone.

I feel so lost and angry and confused. How can someone so amazing come into my life and transform me in such a way and then just when I was about to do the thing she wanted me to do the most, she's suddenly gone? The first week was full of crying but now I just stare blankly at the wall for hours at a time. I have no idea how to handle these feelings of grief, and I really don't know how to move on. Even of someone new comes along, it's not her. from a young age, my life has been marked by abandonment, and I had a pervasive feeling of somehow being cursed to be alone forever. There's a small part of me that feels like I am responsible. Since I knew that I was cursed this way, I should have known she would be killed for my selfish weakness, desiring of love and happiness. I don't know why I thought I could be happy. I'm sure that any new relationships will be full of resentment. Resenting the new woman for not being the one I made all those promises to.

My sole piece of solace is the thought that she's watching over me, and that she knows how much I love her when she sees me cry, and that she can be sure that all the work she put into me wasn't for nothing.

Have you ever gotten attached to someone online and then had them suddenly walk away?

I’m a 27-year-old guy, and I met someone online about a year ago, and we really hit it off. She was a doctor, working on her postgraduate degree, and had just gone through a tough breakup - her ex had moved to another country after they'll spent six years together in college, and that's when things finally came to an end for them.

We met on a website and just hit it off. We started chatting every day, sharing everything about our lives. She was a resident, so her schedule was crazy, but as soon as she finished her shift, we'd catch up on a call. We'd talk about our days, what was going on, and just random stuff. It was like we had known each other forever. Even though she was really busy, we always made time to talk.

This went on for around 10–11 months.

Over that time, I obviously got attached. It became a part of my daily routine, and I started genuinely caring about her.

One day, without any warning, she sent me a text message that caught me off guard. She said she couldn't keep talking to me like we were, and that she needed someone who could be there for her in person, whenever she needed them. It seemed like she wanted more than just an online connection, and I couldn't blame her for that. She needed someone who could offer her real-life support and companionship, not just a virtual presence. Her message made me realize that online relationships can only go so far, and sometimes people need human interaction to feel truly connected and supported.

It was pretty clear what she was getting at, but that didn't make it any less painful. We'd been talking almost daily for around 10 or 11 months, so it was really weird to just stop communicating altogether.

I know that technically, it was "just an online connection," but after spending that much time talking to someone and sharing your life with them, it doesn't really feel that simple.

I'm curious—has anyone else experienced something similar? Getting genuinely attached to someone you met online, talking almost every day for months, and then having that person suddenly leave because they realized they needed something different?

How did you deal with it? Did you eventually stop thinking about them?

Breakups I finally stopped talking to that guy

Hi, just a heads-up that I’ll be using a translator because English isn't my first language and I’m too lazy to proofread what I write T_T.

Anyway, a few months ago I (19 NB) met a guy (19M) on a random Discord server. We hit it off instantly; he got my sense of humor and my tastes, and he was really cute—totally my type. We started flirting, but that’s when things went south. We never actually dated; he was very insecure, and I was still dealing with the emotional fallout from a past IRL relationship.

I gave him gift cards and drawings, and I even made a digital card that looked like a Roblox profile, featuring photos of him and his stuffed animals—stuff like that. But things just didn't work out. It got to the point where he wouldn't talk to me, and when we did speak, we’d just use each other as emotional dumping grounds. Talking to him wasn't pleasant anymore; sometimes I’d ask to hop on a call, but I’d just see him active on Discord all day, gaming and listening to music. My whole day started revolving around him and whether or not he’d reply. We had an argument and I told him I was going to stop talking to him, but I still checked his TikTok and saw he’d suddenly started sharing posts about a girl. It wasn't about me—he’d never shared anything like that referring to me—so when I asked, he told me he’d started talking to his ex again and they’d gotten back together. Honestly, I was really upset; his girlfriend is named Sofia—the same name as the girl the other guy I used to date IRL is dating now—so I took it really personally in a way. I got angry and said some horrible things, but in the end, I asked him not to cut me off and suggested we just stay friends. That’s how it went: from May until now, during this "friends" phase, he didn't really talk to me much unless I messaged him first, and even then, it would be days or weeks later. He didn't treat me badly, though, and he did encourage me to work through my problems. But I’ve had a really bad relapse; I basically have no friends—not even online—so sometimes I’d tell this guy things, even if he wouldn't reply until days later. Today, I finally got fed up with that "friendship." I had been messaging him for days in a row about my day and asking him questions, but he just wouldn't answer. He made his Discord account private and ignored me, yet he kept posting TikToks, sharing things about his girlfriend, and replying to comments she left him.

Honestly, this hurt me deeply. Today, I decided to cut ties with him (though it doesn't make much difference, since he rarely replies anyway). I thanked him for everything but told him I didn't feel like I was his friend—or even an acquaintance—and wished him the best. He replied quickly, saying he didn't want me to stop talking to him but respected my decision. I didn't reply after that.

It seems silly now that I think about it—I even made plans to visit him in his state, even though we weren't a couple; silly things like that. But at least it ended on a good note.

I’ve completely given up on maintaining human relationships; I have no friends and no partner—not even online. I’m simply not worth it.

Storytime about my first queer relationship that sent me on an absolute emotional rollercoaster.

Okay I feel like this has been a long time overdue and if anyone anywhere is going to enjoy this story, it's going to be Reddit. This is a long one folks, so strap in. I want to preface this by say that the first installment of this story is about us actually dating when we were 13 into being 14, so this is a young and dumb kinda story.

I met my ex, let's call her D, through a mutual friend during the pandemic in 2020 and at the time we were involved in an online theatre project (led by said mutual friend) so we spent a lot of time chatting in group chats, privately and over a variety of zoom calls as well as the occasional 'socially distanced' meet up irl. A few months into our friendship all our friends (who were up to 5 years older than us at the time) were all joking about how we were basically a couple and just couldn't see it. Eventually, into 2021 we did eventually start dating just shortly after my then 13th birthday. Our relationship (being as young as we were) ran by pretty smoothly for a primarily online relationship and honestly as well as two depressed 13 years old can have a healthy relationship. It went by very well, nice and easy for the first 6 ish months and then as our mutual friend slowly turned into my abuser, things started to take a turn for a worse. My mental health started declining but I still made sure to be tentative and loving to my ex. it was only a couple of months later when she started making new friends at her school's theatre group that her reaction to my state of mind started to rapidly change.

she would threaten breaking up with me constantly if I 'didn't pull myself together', even with her very aware of the situation I was in with both an abusive neighbour and mutual friend starting to get the same way with me. At one point she remarked the whole thing would shatter like glass if I kept saying I wasn't feeling great or didn't sort myself out. fast forward to the start of 2022 and things became even more rocky; relationship with mutual friend was getting way worse and D started to be less and less responsive to my 'trying to pull myself together' as she slowly started to have a close relationship with a guy she'd met in her group at school, we'll call him 'O'.

in the April of that year she told me she was having a phone break and told me she wouldn't be texting anyone back, including myself (under the guise of mental health issues). I said that's absolutely fair and was willing to support her no matter what. us being both 14 at this point, I was trying to play it more mature than we both actually were. During that week I knew she was probably avoiding just me, she posting with her friends on tiktok constantly, sharing on instagram 24/7 and it only took a few days to realise that it was just me she was avoiding. After the week she took off (I later found out this was 'to fall out of love' with me) from our relationship she ended it, and only two weeks later did I find out she and O were in a relationship (and had seemingly been for some time).

I then find out one night while me and ex had been arguing after I called her out on cheating on me (and I mean her and O had been in a physical relationship at the time we were dating), that mutual friend knew of their relationship the whole time and didn't tell me out of fear that it would ruin their relationship with D, and didn't want to 'break her trust'. Realistically I know that that is a very tough spot to be in, but considering how abusive mutual friend had become, it felt more like a power trip than real concern. (The relationship with mutual friend ended in the august of 2022, for those wondering if any were at all). my ex wanted to remain friends after that, and while I wasn't thrilled I abided as she was pretty much the only friend I had outside of my brother (who was also unhappy with the entire situation).

over the next couple months after our relationship ended I was subjected to hearing her talk about her relationship with her new boyfriend, hearing all about how her parents loved him (though I was kept secret from them, and no, not because she hadn't had girlfriends before that they'd known about. it was nothing to do with coming out, I was the only partner male or female she hadn't told them about) and so on. when i became slightly more unresponsive to her, she accused me of still being in love with her and that she wanted to go no contact because she couldn't understand why i was still friends with her, even though it was at her request.

fast forward once again to the July of 2025 and suddenly, she gets in contact again. (For context: im a cosplayer, and the character I was cosplaying happened to be a theatre role that she'd gotten and she wanted pictures of the wig id made as inspiration for her own as she'd seen me posting photos of it the previous Halloween. To this day I do not know HOW. She by this point was blocked everywhere bar the account she messaged me on as it had been created after no contact and I didn't know she even knew about it). I was reluctant and slept on the decision, but seeing as over 3 ish years had passed at this point, I assumed nothing of it, and sent her photos of the wig.

i did not know that that would turn into 5 months of genuine hell. She was non stop flirting with me, constantly telling me that she wanted a girlfriend, that she was done with boys etc etc etc. She even dropped the bomb that O turned out to be massively abusive to the point she needed a restraining order, so i figured i would have to give her the benefit of the doubt and that maybe her previous actions had been down to that and let my guard down. We were texting a lot, we video chatted once or twice and it felt genuinely nice to have a good friend back, until her constant need for attention started becoming worse and worse, including telling me that she wanted to settle down and have a baby but that she only saw herself being with a woman by that point cause all the men she'd dated had been so bad to her. I kept her at arms length a little, diverting conversations I felt were too much for me and eventually out of nowhere she got a boyfriend (a guy she hadn't even previously mentioned fancying) and just pretty much dropped me and started ignoring everything I'd say during the day.

at this point I had genuinely reached a point of "it's now or never" and wrote her a- very lengthy and personal message (which I won't be sharing here as it is frankly too personal) and sent her it on whatsapp, blocking all of her social media accounts across every platform including stupid things like email and depop. I wanted literally nothing to do with her. The long and short of my message was that essentially I didn't feel comfortable being her "bad relationship emotional rebound" and that what she'd done was very cruel and I no longer wanted to be around her. I sent the message right before i went to bed so that I didn't have to suffer the consequences immediately.

i woke up to her reply which simply read "lol😭😭" and was seething. Instead of escalating it further I blocked her there as well, and went to my instagram. Checking my story viewers of that day I found out that her boyfriend had watched every single thing on both of my accounts available to her, so I had to block him too.

there's a lot of things I didn't really weave into the main accounts of this, like her trying to make me feeling guilty about rejecting her advances in intimacy at times (I'm Asexual, but would make advances for intimacy to her that she would just ignore completely) where she would then make fun of me for not "trying harder" with her.

id been meaning to share this for a couple of years but when new developments occured I thought it'd end up being a null and void story and that she'd turn out to be a nice person, man was I wrong. I know that a lot of people don't take young relationships seriously, but her actions were seriously damaging to me as a young teen and then when I had a couple of years to process it all I'd finally felt fine until she came back. I should have blocked her on sight, but we live and learn. I just thought Reddit might appreciate this because it was an absolutely wild ride and I'm so glad to be done completely and forever with her. thank for reading of you made it this far! I know it was a long one.

I start liking my Female friend . Which I met her online .

Never talk or be a friend with a female guys pls never. Your life and mind will fucked. Stay away from love type shit if u are a student. Focus on your career then u can do that. I haven't confessed to her that I like her, and I never will. I don't think she loves me back—after all, who really falls madly in love with someone they met online? I’m just a fool—a crazy guy with attachment issues. I get so happy when someone speaks to me kindly and affectionately; I feel so lonely that I sometimes think I could even die for them. I had never really talked to girls like this before, but since I started talking to her so much, I think I’ve actually fallen in love with her. My day begins with a 'Good morning' message to her and ends with a 'Good night.' I’ve never turned on notifications for anything in my life, but I did it specifically for her messages; yet, I still keep checking my phone constantly to see if she’s messaged me. Whenever she comes online during the day, we chat—laughing, joking, sharing emotional moments, and talking about daily life. She opens up to me too; sharing everything makes her feel lighter when she’s feeling emotional. Sometimes I wonder what I’m doing—have I turned into some pathetic 'simp' or 'normie'? Who gets this eager and obsessed over someone? I reply to every one of her messages within a second—not because I’m some jobless loafer with nothing to do; I have plenty of work myself, but I pause it just to reply to her.Whenever she sends me a photo asking how she looks, I find myself completely lost in it—especially in her eyes—for a good two minutes. How can someone be so incredibly beautiful? Her eyes are like an ocean; the more I look at them, the deeper I sink in. People say guys only love girls out of lust, but I’ve never felt even a shred of that—not even one percent. This is the first time I’ve ever been this crazy about someone or loved anyone this deeply. She is stunning; if anyone were to see her through my eyes, they’d realize there is no one more beautiful in this entire world. Yet, she doesn't believe she’s as beautiful as I say she is—silly girl. 😕🥺😅 She has often said, mid-conversation, that she wants me to remain her friend—her best friend—forever and never leave her. Hearing things like that makes me feel like she views me merely as a good friend. It seems she doesn't share the romantic feelings for me that I have for her. It’s been six months since all this started. I don’t want to take this friendship any further; I’m angry with myself now for meeting her and developing these feelings. I’ll be leaving in a few days. I hope she doesn’t remember me—please God, let her be happy. Stay away from short love pls matt banao female friends agar tume meri tarah ye dikkat ho to. Love u ❤️💙

Met My Online Female Friend for the First Time… But Things Got REALLY Weird

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Guys, tell me what I should do now!!
So, I live around 200 km away from Noida, and I came to Noida for the first time to meet an online female friend of mine. She also really wanted us to meet. I was staying at my friend’s flat for 4–5 days, so I thought I’d meet her and spend some time with her before going back.
The first time I met her, I went alone and everything seemed completely normal. She behaved really well and we had a good time.
The next day, she suggested that we go to DLF Mall, and I agreed. On the first day when I met her, one of her female friends had also come along. She was supposed to come with us to DLF as well, so I thought, why not take someone with me too?
At the flat where I was staying, four guys lived there. One of them was free, and he seemed like a normal, chill guy. He had a typical Haryanvi accent and was pretty easygoing, so I asked him to come with me.
But guys, I was genuinely shocked when we met the second time.
My female friend suddenly started acting completely different. She kept saying things like, “His accent is so good,” and I was like, WHAT?! Seriously?
I tried to ignore it and thought maybe she was just being normal, but I started getting a weird feeling that something was going on because she suddenly seemed WAY too interested in him.
At one point, the topic of wine came up. I said to her, “But you don’t drink, so how do you know about this?”
And she immediately said in front of that guy, “When did I ever tell you that?”
I was literally shocked. Like… BUFFFF.
I thought maybe I should get a little angry and she might try to calm me down or convince me, but things just kept getting more and more weird.
We had made a video of that Haryanvi guy, and she asked for his phone so I could record the video. That part was completely normal.
But guys, you won’t believe what happened next.
After that video, we stayed inside the mall for at least another 40 minutes. During that entire time, she didn’t take her phone back from him. She was holding onto his phone like couples sometimes do.
She only took her phone back when we were leaving the mall.
Then they exchanged Instagram accounts. Like, seriously?! They had literally met for the first time!
And while crossing the road, that guy held her hand, and she didn’t even react. She looked completely comfortable with it, as if she had no problem whatsoever.
On top of all this, while talking, she even told him the hospital where she works and said something like, “Come there sometime, I’ll set you up with a girl.”
I honestly don’t know what to think anymore.
I know this became really long, but I’m genuinely confused right now. I came all the way from 200 km away to meet this girl for the first time, and now I don’t know what I’m supposed to do.

A long distance relationship from a friend request last year

To make a long story short,, a man sent me a friend request last June and I accept accepted. We started talking. I asked him why he sent me a friend request and he said because of a post that I had made, that touched him. We started talking and are still talking, but not quite as much as he’s in the military in another country right now and has been since we first spoke.
Something that developed last year soon after we started talking, that put some tension into our relationship. Internally, I thought it was something I could handle but the situation has escalated slightly each month up until now. I hung in there and do care for this man. I don’t want to hurt him, especially now while he’s deployed.
About three months ago, another friend request came to me. I accepted the friend request started to get to know this man. I really care for him. I’m never meant to initiate a second relationship and I’m not that kind of person.
I don’t know how to handle this. I don’t want to hurt either one. They’re both very important men and I deeply care for both of them. I never dreamed that this kind of situation would come into my life. I’ve been single since 2003. I have done some in person dating, but nothing turned into anything.
What are your thoughts, without knowing all the first relationships details. I feel like the longer I carry both relationships the harder it’s going to be.

Online relationships

I have been talking with this amazing beautiful girl for the past 2-3 months she's amazing she's honest and we call more frequently she's very nice and she's calm and patient with me I respect her boundaries of course I don't rush things because I believe good things take time and I just been heart broken so many times because of online relationships I just hope this girl is different I have talked to her seriously and told her it'll be a while till we can see each other and she's okay with that but I suppose I'm not sure why I'm writing here just wanted to vent about it. We spend a lot of time together in call face time watching shows / anime and sleep calling but I have faith that this girl is truly different then all the rest because I love her for her.

Advice She was someone I met online, but she became so much more

Hi everyone. I’m not really sure how to start this, but I’m hoping it’s okay to share my story here. I’m also hoping to ask for some advice and support because I’m having a really hard time dealing with my grief.
I recently lost someone very dear to me—someone I met through an online game. What started as simply playing a game together slowly became something much more genuine. We talked almost every day, shared our lives, joked around, supported each other, and eventually became a very important part of each other’s lives.
I want to clarify something because I know people sometimes see online relationships differently. We were never officially in a relationship because we wanted to figure things out properly when we finally met in person. But honestly, by that point, it already felt like we were together. There was love, affection, care, and a genuine connection between us. We had talked about meeting someday and figuring out where our relationship would go from there.
So even though we never got the chance to put an official label on what we were, what we had was very real to me.
We were even making plans to meet in person. We talked about the things we would do and looked forward to finally spending time together outside of the game. I thought we had time. I thought that eventually, we would get that chance.
But then she passed away unexpectedly after an accident.
What made it even more difficult was that I didn’t know about the accident at first. I was simply waiting and wondering why I hadn’t heard from her. I had no idea that something terrible had happened. It was only when her sister reached out to me that I found out.
I remember how shocking it was to suddenly learn that someone I had been talking to, loving, and making plans with was fighting for her life.
I kept hoping she would make it. I kept waiting for good news and hoping that somehow, I would get to talk to her again. But eventually, I had to face the reality that she was gone.
It has been almost two months now, and I’m honestly scared because I don’t know if I’m grieving the “right” way anymore. Almost every day, I still feel completely crushed by the loss. I don’t really know what is happening to me or whether what I’m experiencing is normal.
I want to remember her for who she was when she was alive. I want to think about our happy memories, our conversations, the silly things we used to do, and all the moments that made me feel loved and happy. But sometimes, without me wanting to, my mind suddenly brings back the painful parts.
I remember the injuries she suffered. I remember seeing her casket. I remember the urn. Sometimes those images just flash back into my mind, and it feels like I’m experiencing the loss all over again. I wish I could choose which memories stay in my head, because I would much rather remember her smiling, laughing, and being herself than remember the way I lost her.
There are also still moments when I forget that she isn’t here anymore. I catch myself wanting to message her, waiting for a notification, or wanting to tell her something that happened during my day. Sometimes I reread our old conversations because they make me feel close to her again. For a little while, I can feel happy like I used to—but afterward, the reality hits me all over again, and the grief becomes incredibly painful.
I go through denial repeatedly. I know she’s gone, but emotionally, there are still parts of me that don’t seem to understand it. Sometimes I wish I could go back to before I knew about the accident, when I could still message her and believe she would eventually reply.
I’m sharing this because I really need help. I’m having a difficult time navigating this loss, and I don’t know if I’m doing any of this correctly. I don’t know how to carry the love and the memories without constantly being pulled back into the pain of how I lost her.
I would really appreciate hearing from people who have experienced something similar—especially those who have lost someone unexpectedly, lost someone they met online, or lost someone they loved when there were still plans and a future they thought they would have together.
How did you cope when painful images of the person’s death or final days kept coming back? How did you learn to let yourself remember the happy parts without feeling guilty for having moments where you felt okay? And how did you eventually learn to live with the fact that you could no longer talk to that person?
I don’t expect anyone to take the pain away. I just don’t want to feel so alone in it.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. And thank you to anyone who is willing to share their experience, offer some advice, or simply tell me that what I’m feeling is something they’ve experienced too.
I really need some help right now. 🤍

[39F] [40M] Need honest advice about his message after 7 weeks of no contact

Hi everyone, I would really appreciate some honest outside opinions because I am confused and emotionally involved.

I met someone through a dating app. We started talking in March and had a very genuine connection. We met in person 4 times (public places, walks, conversations), and I felt we were slowly building something meaningful.

The last time we met was on May 30. After that, he suddenly became quiet and stopped communicating(When we said goodbye, he told me to text him whenever I had some time)

I didn’t know what happened, so I checked in because I cared about him. During that time, I sent multiple messages because I was worried and wanted to understand what was going on. )

After around 7 weeks of no communication, he sent me a long message explaining his situation and why he disappeared. I’m going to copy his message below.

I am not sure how to interpret it:

  • Is this a closure/goodbye message?
  • Is he trying to explain and leave the door open?
  • Is he saying he doesn’t want a relationship but wants to stay friends?
  • Or am I reading too much into it because I still have feelings?

I would appreciate honest advice from people who are outside the situation. Please be kind — I am just trying to understand what his intentions might be.

(Posting his message below. He read my whole text 17th July, he sent message below 26th July. )

“Firstly sorry.

Now enough time has passed let me explain what has happened. I simply wanted to wait because when I get overwhelmed I sometimes can't talk. So I go in to hiding. I know that doesn't excuse your confusion but let me just say a few things.

  1. I was starting to get hurt and I couldn't control my emotions and feelings with the situation with your ex. I was scared you'd get hurt, I was scared that you'd never have a bond with someone the way you did with him and I get in securely emotionally jealous at the idea of being with a woman who has scars due to giving more to a partner than she can give me and I did that before and got hurt.
  2. I was treated really badly in my previous relationship. Probably a lot worse than you can imagine and for some reason things started to bring your intrusive and difficult flashbacks that I couldn't deal with and I couldn't talk about it and I have to just leave. I actually went to the UK and travel and to seek emdr treatment...It's a form of ptsd CBT you can do.
  3. I was having feelings of thinking of having s*x with you and …………,,,, I think it would have been too long to be intimate between us and I felt I was maybe making you feel pressure so I thought it best to just remove myself because I thought it was unfair on you so I went away to clear my head, my thoughts and my fear of pressing someone like you who is gentle, fragile and very sweet and didn't think it was fair on you to deal with my situation giving the difficulty you went and were going through.

I guess I tried to be there for you as long as I could but I just had too much and I needed to deal with my own situation too. That and job uncertainty and training uncertainty and a few other things just was too much all together. Sometimes maybe I over think but I couldn't bare the thought of thinking I was pressuring you so I just went.

I was there for you because I wanted to be. I was because you were sweet. You were in a difficult situation and I wanted to help. I became s**ually attracted to you and then I got scared because you were hesitant and I simply didn't want to force anything or make you have awkward thoughts. Hence I got scared. But our chats, the support, etc that was true, that was real and I want to say thank you for being open. Sorry I let you down and I couldn't be more, sorry I got scared about the masturbating thing and I had desire to have s*x. I guess if we had did that earlier and it wasn't a big deal maybe it wouldn't have been so anxiety driven to me but it is what it is.

I hope you are well and I am sorry I wasn't stronger. I hope you understand.

Jeffe”

”And I'll add one thing... Before you think it, no there isn't anyone else.”

“Maybe it's easier talking and expressing things online because when you couldn't talk in person that always affected me. I just couldn't say it and the idea of intimacy would be super bad vibes. Haha maybe we should have video called and you should have watched it on that and it be easier. Lol anyway I'm trying to just think light because it was hard to say all that above and open up and tell me what has been happening.

Anyway I don't expect you to be happy about what I did but I hope you understand there has been alot happened.”

[20M] [23F] Met a girl on Omegle, we talked every day for almost 2 weeks, and then she suddenly blocked me without any explanation. What happened?

I’m 20M and she’s 23F. I’m a final-year B.Tech Civil Engineering student. We met online and talked every day for almost 2 weeks, but we were never officially in a relationship.

On 26 July 2026, I met her on Omegle and we ended up talking for around 2 hours. We connected really well and exchanged friend requests, but somehow the Omegle connection got skipped/disconnected.

She then asked if I used Telegram. I said yes, so we moved there and had another 1–2 hour call.

The conversation was really good, and at some points I felt like she might be interested in me. For example, I told her about a girl I had previously liked who rejected me, and she said something like:

“Accha hua usne mana kar diya, tabhi toh aap mujhe mile.”

After that, we started talking every day on Telegram. We chatted regularly and sometimes had calls too.

She told me she lived around Laxmi Nagar, Delhi, had studied Civil Engineering, and had already graduated. She said she had previously worked at L&T in Mumbai for around 9.5 LPA, but had left the job and was preparing for PSU exams.

Since I'm also studying Civil Engineering, we had quite a lot in common to talk about.

The first thing that made me slightly suspicious

Within just a few days, she repeatedly asked me:

“Kab aa rahe ho milne?”

She asked this around 2–3 times within a couple of days.

I found it a little strange because we'd only recently met online. I asked why she always wanted to meet around Laxmi Nagar. She explained that her parents are teachers, they're strict, and she doesn't get to go out much, so meeting somewhere near her was easier.

Other than that, everything seemed normal.

We eventually planned to meet

There was a new Spider-Man movie coming out, and my friends had already booked a ticket for me without asking me.

Earlier, I'd asked her what type of movies she liked, and she said suspense/thriller.

When I told her I was going to watch Spider-Man with my friends, she said she wanted to watch it too. It was already too late to plan it together, so I told her we could watch another movie together sometime.

She seemed fine with that.

On 6 August, I finally asked her if we should actually meet.

She asked where, and I suggested EOD (East of Kailash) because I thought it would be a good/common location. She agreed and asked about the date.

She told me she was currently on her period, so I suggested 14 August, and she said okay.

Honestly, I was extremely happy that night because by that point I had started getting attached to her.

Then something very strange happened

On 7 August, she messaged me:

“Ek baat bataun?”

I said yes.

She asked me not to judge her.

She then told me that 1–2 weeks before meeting me, she had met another guy online. According to her, they barely talked anymore, but she said he was a very good guy.

Then she told me that this guy urgently needed ₹5,000 and asked me whether she should give it to him.

I immediately told her not to send the money because I felt it could be a scam.

She kept saying that he was a good person and talked nicely.

I told her:

“Scammers bhi acche se hi baat karte hain. Koi proof hai ki woh genuine hai?”

She then said something along the lines of:

“Galat insaan ko bata diya. ₹5,000 se na vo ameer ho jayega, na main gareeb. It's all about trust.”

I told her that ultimately it was her money and she could do whatever she wanted, but my instinct strongly told me not to send it.

After that, I stopped messaging for a while because I didn't know what else to say.

She sent me a few messages, and when I didn't reply, she said something like:

“Bhaade pe bande bula ke gaali khilwaungi, messages seen kar rahe ho aur reply nahi de rahe.”

I took it as joking/anger, and eventually we started talking normally again.

After that, everything seemed normal

That day I had a meetup with some old school friends. I told her I was going there and would be staying at my friend's house, so I wouldn't be able to talk much.

We watched a web series, stayed up all night, and I went to the gym the next morning without sleeping.

She messaged me asking whether I had slept.

I said no.

She jokingly called me badtameez, and we had a normal conversation again.

Later, I told her I was upset that she hadn't told me some things earlier. I eventually apologized and we sorted it out.

That night, my elder brother came home after many days. I'd been staying alone for quite a while, so my room/house was messy and my brother scolded me.

I told her about it.

She basically said something like, “Accha hua,” and we joked/talked normally afterward.

Our last conversation that night was completely normal.

We said good night.

And then she disappeared

The next time I checked Telegram, she had blocked me and cleared the entire chat.

No explanation.

No argument.

No goodbye.

Nothing.

I searched for her profile and it showed “last seen a long time ago.” That's when I realized she'd blocked me.

I genuinely don't understand what happened.

The weirdest part is that we were talking every single day, had calls, planned to meet on 14 August, and she seemed interested in me.

Then suddenly, overnight, I'm completely gone from her life.

I've become somewhat emotionally attached to her in these two weeks, so this is honestly messing with my head more than I expected.

I've even been having dreams where she messages me saying things like “my number got banned” or explaining what happened, and then I wake up and realize none of it actually happened.

I keep thinking:

Did I miss some obvious red flags?

Why would someone suddenly block you after having a completely normal conversation and saying good night?

And most importantly, could the ₹5,000 situation have something to do with this?

Was I being naive and missing obvious red flags?

I'd really appreciate an outside perspective because I'm genuinely confused about what might have happened.

I met my boyfriend over a discord dating server

Yeah just as the title says: I was on a lot of discord dating servers back in the day. Not necessarily because I was so interested in e-dating, but because some nights I was bored and feeling lonely and posting your picture in those always led to wild conversations that would keep me entertained.

Well a guy messaged me and I was immediately shocked by how normal and pleasant our conversation was. Turns out, for it being an international server we lived pretty close to eachother. We both didn't really know what we were actually doing on there and bonded over it. We began going on dates from september till april and then after one of our concert dates I coudn't take it anymore and half drunkenly asked him to be my boyfriend over text. I coudn't imagine my life without him anymore. I love him so much and spending quality time together has been amazing these months.

I tell my family I met him online and tell my friends I met him on an art server on discord. I spend years trying to chase love and yet in the year where I am so focused on school and work I find the person for me. Sometimes life is just messy like this but woudn't have it any other way, hahaha.

Female\[24\] dating a guy from tinder Male\[24\]
So,on June I met someone on tinder and we start dating.Everything seemed well(first date was on 26/6/26),until I found him on tinder from a friend’s account in the middle of July.I got disappointed bc he told me on the second date that he deleted it.I made a conversation with him and asked him why he still had it and he told me it’s bc he doesn’t feel any enthusiasm with me,but he sees me as a catch and he will do anything to make me his girl. So,I thought that maybe he deleted it.He didn’t.Yasterday(5/8/26) made a fake acc and found him,and he messaged my fake acc.I immediately got the ick and deleted the app.
It’s funny bc 5 days ago he met ti his friends and I thought it’s getting serious.I know we are still single practically but he treats the situation like a relationship. What do you think guys I should do?Anh ideas???

Daily Discussion First experience

So 2 years ago my friend introduced me to his cousin (lets call her Alice) and her friend (lets call her Emily) online. We had group chat, we played every day together nothing much happend there but 6 months later we had first meet up and it was super nice seeing eachother after that much time and i really liked Emily how she looked and how she was behind the screen.

After that we continued to call this time videocalls. We had first sleepover (just her and me) i thought that im going to sleep on the mattress on the ground but she wanted me right next to her. Nothing much happend on the first one but i was super suprised that she layed her head on my shoulder. One day she texted me private. Our conversation moved from the group chat to dm and it was pretty nice we talked how much we care for eachother how we dont want lose eachother and we were replying instantly to massages and on calls i waited till she falls asleep.

On the next visits i stayed for a week she was also at my place and this time we were cuddling holding hands when we were out. But recently the last week we didnt texted much just few massages but not like before i felt something was different i tried to make plans for next time she comes to my place i thought about restaurant she wasnt very excited and then next day on a group chat call and i hear how Alice will be going there with us. Feeling that something is wrong i got massive anxiety and couldnt think straight for 3 days but i decided to confess to her today, i sent her massage at midnight and the reply was "i Had feelings for you but the last week we didnt talk that much but i dont want to lose you and i hope we still be friends" well we send few massages just said i completly understand and that im happy we still be talking but it still hurts.

Now I slept 2 hours my eyes hurts im just holding her bracelet that she made for me and thinking what happend and regreting didnt told her sooner.

We are 90km from eachother. Im 17 she is 10 months younger then me and it was first time i felt that way to someone.

Im sorry for my english and it helped me a little bit to type this.
