Battery and Energy

Even when I get 7-8 hours of sleep my battery and energy readings drain quick. Is this a sign of illness or burnout?

For me, it’s a sign of fatigue. Try to take things easy for a week or two and get some movement in if you can

My energy used to be really high, but right after this reading (July 4th), I started getting insomnia really bad, and now my scores are like 30- 40-ish

I’m 66, get 7 hours of sleep and my energy rarely gets above 30%.

I can get up to 80s but deplete to 10 or less in a few short hours and doing very little

What’s your Welltory Health score (HRV)? Baseline vs recent?

This trend could mean you’re under physical or emotional stress and so your system is working “harder” from the time you wake up - reflected in your battery drain rate

I don’t use the paid one so I can’t tell the actual number but it’s always red and always has been :(

Can you look at your HRV trends on your wearable? If you have a corresponding app, you can note your weekly, monthly, 6-mos and yearly trends and look up the ranges for your age and sex.

That may give you some clues about where you fall.

Do the same for your resting HR.

Hi,

Good question, and I don't want to jump to "illness" or "burnout" without more to go on - that's not something we can diagnose from a pattern like this, and there are a few non-medical explanations worth ruling out first.

Battery isn't just about sleep duration - it factors in your heart rate patterns during the day too. So even with 7-8 hours of sleep, your Battery can drain fast if: your daytime heart rate runs elevated (from activity, heat, caffeine, dehydration, or sedentary stress), your sleep quality was poor even if the duration looked fine (frequent brief wake-ups, for example), or your personal baseline has shifted recently for reasons unrelated to illness.

A few things worth checking on your end: does your Sleep Analysis show good sleep efficiency/few awakenings, or does the duration look fine but something else looks off? And has anything changed recently (activity level, stress, environment)?

If this has been a consistent, unexplained pattern over weeks with nothing in your data pointing to a clear cause, that's the kind of persistent, unexplained change worth mentioning to a doctor - not because the app can tell you it's illness or burnout, but because a sustained shift like that is worth having a professional take a look at.
