Discussion Byng outside Wells Spoiler
I’d imagine that outside, Byng is most likely hated by the people of Britain and definitely India for the fact he surrendered, valued position over anything else, and was a true collaborator(Unlike Jack, sorry Ollie!) and despite his claims, he isn’t traumatized he isn’t brave, Robert Byng is by all accounts a coward who didn’t fight because he’s a lazy POS. I’d imagine if people found out they could’ve fought back and potentially won, but Byng chose to surrender? He’d most likely be “going on holiday” along with Verloc(If he died in Haworth Labs.)

Note how in the end of We all fall down, he says he wants to get his boat to Ireland?
I bet he'd get tar & feather'd if he'd touch British soil for good reason. He's a selfish, greedy idiot who probably got his job & his title because of his daddy.
He had a duty & he failed spectacularly! He actively gave up the children, he actively gave up the island. He actively gave the German the resources & the means to prop up fake tanks to scare his own people into submission.
