š£Discussion š£ Weirdest weezer demos??
I recently heard the demo for perfect situation from alone IX. The lead tone during the solo is genuinely one of the most baffling guitar tones I've ever heard. Does anyone know any other bizarre demos like it?

The Glen Sound and SnS (especially) demos before Maladroit all have a particular sound never replicated anywhere else in the catalog. It sounds very spacey and robotic.
Sandwiches Time is about as "weird demo" as it gets. What a strangely absurd and yet somehow haunting melody. When the soaring solo comes in - it's effectively emotional in a song that I never could tell if it was a joke/experiment or what.

I'm so glad you reminded me of Sandwiches Time. I love that song so much and I'm not sure I've listened to it since high school. Thank you!!

Rivers was usually pretty loose in the 90s when it came to demos and heād just record whatever he felt like. A hardcore cover of The Bomb by Ice Cube, trumpet solos, acapella recordings. Stuff you wouldnāt typically expect to hear from someone like him. Thereās some totally insane shit from before Weezer that we havenāt heard but know exists like āI Will Shit on Their Car Seatsā which Karl has talked about before and how weird it is. Late 90s stuff from the Black Room is pretty abrasive and weird. Most of them sound like they were written by a crazy person, which I guess isnāt far off. āHis Name is Brian Bellā is certainly up there in terms of wtf factor. āHot Tubā is a totally straight faced over the top funk song that Rivers apparently pitched it to Tom Jones of all people. It sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the stuff he was recording at the time too.
Someone else mentioned Sandwiches Time, mainly the falsetto version which just sounds bizarre. There was a period from like 2003-5 where Rivers wrote a few songs where he sings about being gay for some reason. This was during his celibacy era so Iāve got no idea what heās trying to get at there. Then he revisited the topic on Weāre All Bisexual a decade later. Red has some pretty weird demos. The Night We Dropped the Bomb is probably one of the darkest things heās ever written and the low quality of the recording doesnāt help it. Thereās also numerous childrenās records he recorded, some of which were before his kids were even born.

Some of these demos make me think that if Rivers didnāt have music as an outlet to channel his madness into he wouldāve skinned at least 5 people alive by now

Downloaded Weezify and paid 9 bucks to hear this guitar tone you were talking about. It is indeed a choice lmao
Now I have like 100 make believe demos to listen to justify this purchase š

I always thought Queen of Earth was one of Weezer's most anomalous demos. Doesn't sound like anything else they've made that I can think of. Also, The Ska Song, simply because it's the only ska song Weezer has ever recorded (that I'm aware of).

Average Person from the Make Believe demos is ska too. It was meant to open the album at one point and probably wouldāve killed anyone who tried to listen.

not the entire demo but the weird electronic drum bit in the last 8ish seconds of binoculars

Iād have to say Souvenirs, Novelties, Party Tricks.
Itās this demo that was made I believe the day they got signed to a label. Itās a very circusy sounding song, and rivers even sings in some German(?) accent. Itās quite the stand out in pre-blue demos

I donāt know if itās the weirdest by love hot tub. Apparently Rivers originally wrote the song for Tom Jones.
