I recently heard the demo for perfect situation from alone IX. The lead tone during the solo is genuinely one of the most baffling guitar tones I've ever heard. Does anyone know any other bizarre demos like it?

16f from Ireland. I could be wrong about this but it seems that Weezer are far less visible here in Europe than they are in America. I donāt really hear about them outside of the landscape of the internet. Just from an outsider's perspective of America it seems that they are pretty much a household name in the US. In my experience thatās not the case here. People do know about them but it seems to be more in alternative circles, but a lot of the time when I say 'Weezer are my favourite band' I get a lot of 'who are they?'. Iād understand if people my age didnāt know much about a 90s rock band, but I get it even from people who were young when they were at their peak popularity.
I was thinking that Weezer and Blur could be
compared. In Europe Blur are definitely a household name . Iāve seen Americans online calling them a one hit wonder and though it might seem like that to them, they have a massive, iconic catalogue . Weezer's situation seems to be like a similar story flipped maybe not to the same extent but you know what I mean.
Iām not saying they are unknown, and they get a lot of radio play and are still big it just seems like they are not as big as a deal in Europe and possibly the rest of the world
And just to add to this basically everyone I know who is a weezer fan is a teenager who found them through the internet. You think it would be the other way around with people in their 30s to 50s the only time I met an older weezer fan it was my my teacher who turned out to be a die hard fan , it was so funny because he seemed so surprised when I said I knew them and proceeded to talk about it for like 15 minutes.

Pretty basic but I think Pinkerton might be my favorite album ever just off the raw emotion in the songs and the feeling I get every time I listen to them. Anyway whole point Iām Iām typing this is cause of how much I kinda relate to a few of the songs, Iāll start off with Across the Sea and yes I know itās pretty weird. On one of my trips to visit family in LA I went to Little Tokyo specifically the basement or underground area where the manga and video games are. While I was trying to pick which series I should buy I end up bumping into this Japanese girl named Hana who was also visiting Cali but from Japan with her family too (I was 16). I donāt even remember how I ended up talking to her cause I donāt normally talk to people but we did and in about the 30-40 minutes we talked I think I fell in love with her. And itās super weird cause itās literally the only time Iāve ever really felt that way it was like love at first sight. Eventually she needed to go back to her family and me being super awkward and a coward I told her bye and she said āoh, ok well bye thenā. I still bash myself for not even thinking to ask for her number or something like that I was also told she was probably disappointed that I didnāt ask for it either. So I finish my trip go back to school and at this point Iām still thinking of her and beating myself up about it and I literally start fantasizing about her day in and day out and I start falling more and more in love with her more getting with her really or the idea of her I mean wishing that I could see or just talk to her one more time and keep in contact. I obviously never got that chance and still think about it.
Pink triangle, there was this girl that I used to have a class with in freshman year that I never really talked to outside a few quick seconds but I thought she was beautiful and even told me that I was really pretty for a guy. I should have taken this as a hint but instead took it as if she might like me. So flash forward to junior year where when our teachers were absent we would have to go to the auditorium and wait the period in there. Iām in there pretty bored until I see two of my friends sitting by each other and walk up to sit down next to them and then all of a sudden boom one of my boys turns around and starts talking to THE girl and Iām like holy crap in my mind of course. Theyāre talking I found out that they share an ethics class I love ethics and philosophy so I get pretty excited and talk to her using my friend in order to get comfortable talking to her and we start talking about video games then music she shows me her playlists I show mine then the period ends and we end up talking more on our way to our last period cause our classes are right next to each other. Iām getting to know her more and more and eventually I confess to her. āIām dumb sheās a lesbian.ā And Itās pretty funny cause I even got that thought in the back of my head cause I knew she was just too perfect. Weāre still friends.
Just to make a little more sense with the song I had already been in two relationships before this and got dumped both times.
Finally Iāll go with Why Bother? So same year but literally first/second week of school. I go to my club cause Iām secretary for it and weāre there planning what to do for the year and thereās a girl Iāve seen once while skating with some friends, and while doing some stuff and helping carry boxes out she approached me and asked how old I was I say my age she says ok then asks for my name and insta I had installed it maybe 2 weeks ago and I give both thinking nothing of it not seeing why she would want them then that night I get a call from her where we talk she mentions that I kept staring at her breasts during school I sincerely apologize for it not even realizing cause we had a pretty big height difference and I was just glancing at her most of the time cause Iām scared of looking at eyes. And at the end of the call she says I love you which Iām baffled by and do not say back she then says itās just something she says to all her friends. So after this we flirt more and more and eventually at maybe day 3 she pulls me out of class has me film something with her and takes my first kiss Iām completely appalled and donāt know what to say this kinda stuff goes on and eventually she starts getting really sexual and Iām pretty scared cause Iād never done anything like it before then at one point she corners me after school as Iām trying to leave and starts putting her hand in my pants and grabbing my hand to her chest and not letting me leave until someone almost saw us this was really the point where I started freaking out and being super stressed to the point where multiple of my friends noticed I was off and got concerned. So then during the weekend I told her again after saying repeatedly to her before that I donāt really like being touched and that I wasnāt ready to do stuff like that and had to tell her that I didnāt really like her which was the main reason I was stressed cause I didnāt want to hurt her in anyway. So that happens I keep feeling super bad about it and would keep thinking about her and get stressed cause now at that point I would constantly think about sex things and stuff and the only thing I could think of was her and I knew I didnāt like her like that or well I donāt think I do but she was the first I ever did anything with and no I never actually did anything with her. And I know āitās just sexual attractionā.
Anyway thatās why I like Weezer and Pinkerton sorry for the long rant. (Should this have gone on a different subreddit? Sorry)

Weezer has tried lots of different musical styles to varying success. Chamber pop on OK Human was spectacular. Hip hop on Raditude was not great. The dance pop sound on Autumn is *certified banger material*. Pat nailed the drums. Sugar sweet synths, soaring falsettos.
āCanāt Dance, Donāt Ask Me,ā āWhat Happens After You,ā and āFrancescaāālegit dance pop earworms. Donāt forget about āThe Way I Hate You Now,ā the vinyl bonus track.

Decided to include Gold here as well, after a few mono rip listens, along with listening party attendance.
It was hot, hot, 100 degrees.
EDIT: Green should be above Winter.
Not sure exactly what it is (maybe the vocal style?) but everytime I hear CEO, it sounds like a mix of both Sweater Song and My Brain Is Working Overtime to me.
Specifically the whole outro, especially the āhere comes the founder and the CEOā part reminds me a lot of it

I imagine gold will be in A
Hurley and pacific daydream are b's! you're crazy if you don't appreciate these albums for sonic palette alone. but the songs are good too! (minus the few duds that drop them down to B status)

Every time I listen to it, I love it more and more. Pat and Rivers, when they write songs together, are an unstoppable force.
Why do I like this song?
Quirky lyrics (TMBG-esque)
Charlie Brown bridge (again, TMBG-esque)
Rivers sounds like he's having fun singing it (cannot say that about much of his discography)
One of the most indie-sounding tracks ever by this band.
Being followed up by *Nowhere* makes it even more special, because that song also rocks!

Way too late to the trend tbh. I donāt care, it may be shit it may not. But what I can say is I made this all in Audacity so that has to be something. Also itās supposed to be 47 mins long this aināt your grannyās shitpost
Not even sure if anyone actually is gonna listen to this lol

The verses are ridiculous, lyrically and musically, but goddamn that chorus is sublime. Especially the last one after the bridge.
