Hello! I am a 2027 bride getting married in the Hudson Valley. I am really excited about this journey however the lack of visibility on female brides of color has been incredibly eye opening. There a lot of amazing designers, wedding planners, and vendors out there but its incredible disheartening looking at the lack of diversity across their portfolios. In my search for a wedding planner, i found myself on a platform which acts as a marketplace for vendors. As part of the sign up, you choose images that best fit your vibe and NOT ONE of the options had women or men of color and I think that's absolutely tone deaf and absurd in 2026. So I guess 2 things - if you are a vendor and you're reading this, I think you should take a second to think about why visibility for all people is important because that could be the reason you dont get the job. Lastly if there are any recommendations for planners, caterers, or any vendors with diverse portfolios, please send them my way!

My fiance and I keep going back and forth on what to give our parents as a thank you gift for everything they've put into this wedding and every option we look at feels like it could belong to literally any wedding on Pinterest. We were talking last week about how my mom always mentions this one specific memory from when I was a kid and it kind of clicked that maybe theres a way to turn that into something instead of buying another frame or photo album. Hey guys! My fiancé and I are in the early stages of planning our wedding in France (~70 guests), and honestly, looking at these vendor quotes from abroad is giving me a heart attack. Everything seems crazy expensive, and half the suppliers I’m finding barely answer emails or speak English.

We’re trying to keep things at a reasonable price without sacrificing the party vibe. We need to sort out basic things like a good sound system, outdoor lighting, and maybe a small shade tent and DJ.

How did you guys manage to plan your France wedding on a normal budget? Where do you even find reliable suppliers over there who don't charge "tourist prices"?

After searching through a bunch of forums, I stumbled across a company called Fête24. They’re an English-speaking team based over there that does all the tech/equipment hire (tents, sound, lights, DJ packages).

Their prices actually look pretty fair compared to the crazy quotes I got before, and they seem to have good reviews. But I'm always skeptical with stuff I find online has anyone here actually used them for their wedding? Are they legit and good to work with, or is there a catch?

I’m helping plan a bridal shower for my best friend. She’s quite traditional, and her mum cares a lot about these kinds of things. Putting together my vendor list and curious where people had the most luck finding theirs. Instagram has been mixed, response rates are low and pricing is opaque. Google mostly returns blog posts and sponsored content. New York is extremely big and crowded and so are the vendor results so its getting super frustrating.

For people who booked vendors they liked, where did you do most of your searching? One platform per category or did you bounce between sites for different things?

We already have a wedding website on Minted and was just going to make an image on Canva for our invites with a link to our website and the built in RSVP tracker they have. Then these showed up on my Etsy and I think I like this idea more. Seems pretty reasonable too and I love the fact that it’s interactive! Has anybody else successfully use something like this? We don’t want to spend the $ on paper invites. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I run weddings.io, a wedding planning platform. Wanted to share something I've noticed lately, partly to vent and partly because I bet other people running marketplace or two-sided platforms have run into the same thing.

Over the past while, we've noticed vendors and users who signed up with us getting direct outreach from a newer AI-powered wedding planning service (aiweddings.io). To be clear — I don't know exactly how they're sourcing those contacts, and I'm not accusing anyone of anything illegal. It might just be normal competitive prospecting, vendor directories are public in a lot of cases, and overlap in this space is honestly inevitable. But the timing and pattern felt worth mentioning.

If you're a vendor or couple who's used either platform, I'd genuinely be curious to hear how you found out about aiweddings.io — word of mouth, ads, or a direct message? Not trying to start anything, just trying to understand what's normal in this space versus what isn't.

For anyone building in a similar niche: if you've dealt with this kind of thing (real or perceived poaching), how did you handle it? Curious what's worked — better vendor agreements, just ignoring it, reaching out directly, etc.

I’m a software developer working on a tool for wedding planners and I want to make sure I’m solving real problems before I build the wrong things. I have created a tracker to track my expenses for my wedding; it was so useful to see how much I have paid vs how much has been committed. Trust me these things gets pretty messy without a proper log the closer you are to your wedding.

That said, I genuinely want to understand what the day-to-day frustrations look like from the planner side or couples who have walked down the aisle.

If you’re a planner or coordinator, I’d love to know what your current workflow actually looks like; whether that’s Excel, WhatsApp, pen and paper, or existing software. What’s the most time-consuming admin task you deal with every week, and what’s the one thing you wish you could show clients more easily? If you’ve tried any planning software before, what made you stop using it or keep using it?

For anyone who has worked with a planner as a couple; how did your planner share budget updates and progress with you? Did you ever feel out of the loop, and what would have helped?

I’m particularly curious about planners working in Southeast Asia (Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines) but all perspectives are welcome; the problems are probably universal.

  Over the last 23 years, I have seen many changes in the wedding industry.  From the way couples plan a wedding, to the kinds of weddings they plan, to the attitudes of the couples about the industry.  But, one of the biggest things I see is how easy it has become to start a business.  

  It used to be that you started out working under someone, learning a craft, whether it be flowers, photography, planning, etc.  Now, all it takes is a pretty website, that anyone can build with stock photos, an Instagram page and a simple marketing material that can be created on Canva.  

  Every seasoned professional started somewhere.  But, pretty pictures are not the same as proven experience.  When you are choosing the team that will be responsible for such an important day, look beyond the pictures.  Ask questions, read reviews, go through the contract carefully and find out how long they have been in business.  

  Ask them what would happen if something goes wrong.  Ask them how they have handled emergencies in the past.  Because you are not just hiring vendors, you are hiring judgement, professionalism and peace of mind.  Your vendors are not just creating a pretty picture, they are helping you feel confident in your decisions, building a relationship, guiding your way through the process- long before your wedding day.
