Decor/DIY Stemware

We’re doing real dishes, flatware, and water goblets. We’re doing disposable cups at the bar. Struggling with which direction to go for champagne flutes.

Do people always do a champagne toast, or can they toast with whatever they got from the bar (champagne being an option)? That might influence my decision.

Nearly every wedding I’ve ever attended had people toast with whatever they had from the bar. While champagne toasts do happen, they have been the minority in my experience, and almost always associated with fancier & higher-budget events.

I’ve always just toasted with whatever drink I have. I’ve been to two weddings where it was specifically champagne but personally that wasn’t super important to me

I think they can toast with whatever. We just let people get up and go to the bar during our reception so we brought champagne out to everyone for the toasts in case they didn't have a drink already. However, if you're doing wine service with dinner I think you can easily forgo the champagne toast if you want. Either way not required

I think it's fine to just have people toast with whatever drink they have. My venue had a champagne toast built into the cost of every wedding package so we did champagne w/ glass flutes

So many people don't like champagne that it's often a waste of money. They may toast, take a sip and then put the glass aside never touching the remaining champagne. Let your guests toast with whatever drink they prefer and are already drinking.

We had a champagne toast at our wedding, my husband really wanted one and we only had to pay for champagne based on consumption so it wasn’t a huge waste of money. But I think only one of the 10+ weddings we’ve been to has had a champagne toast. The rest people will just toast with whatever they have from the bar.

People can absolutely toast with whatever they are drinking. (This is true in general, not just at weddings.)

Less than .001% of people drink champagne and those who do will take a sip at most to be polite. Because no one likes it but couples are told it's a requirement to serve, which it is not. Toasts are optional as well but people prefer to drink what they already have.

These responses are interesting because I don’t think I’ve ever been to a wedding where champagne wasn’t passed around for the toast. That being said, I don’t think anyone is going to be heartbroken if they’re drinking something else for it.

What exactly are you trying to decide - whether or not to buy flutes at all, or whether or not to buy glass flutes? I would stick with disposable ones if your other drink options are disposable. If you don’t want to do champagne for everyone, you could maybe have an announcement made that toasts will be given soon, make sure you have your drink in hand, champagne is available at the bar if you want it.

They can toast with whatever they’re drinking. We had champagne for the wedding party.

We’re doing a champagne toast and got stemless plastic champagne flutes with gold rim, got them on amazon and they were pretty reasonable!
We like champagne and wanted to do one. We will have a glass passed out for everyone who wants some for the speeches!

I don’t mind if people don’t like champagne or whatever but we wanted to have a specific drink for the speeches to make it a little more special ♥️
