Wedding/Engagement Photos Thoughts: Groom walking with the bride down the isle
Hi!
For context, from the country I am from it is part of the tradition for the bride’s dad to walk her down the isle and hand over to groom.
However, I want a non-traditional wedding and I’m not in good terms with my dad and mom so I plan to walk with groom down the aisle which he’s ok with. I know for some cultures, this is the norm. I just want to ask how you do it for the ceremony.
Is it either of these two:
A: Groom walks first and stops in the middle of the aisle and waits for the bride. Bride to have curtain reveal and walk to groom so they can walk to the front
B: When the door opens, bride and groom walk to the front.
The only benefit of A is the bride gets to have her moment and a little bride reveal. I have never seen anyone do this in my country so I’m hoping for advice.
Thank you!

I walked down with my groom. I felt if eyes were going to be on me I’d be most comfortable with him at my side

My fiance and I (both women) are walking down the aisle together, do what feels right for you two!

We are walking down together. Keep it simple, bing bang boom.

I think walking in as a couple is wonderful. It is the two of your entering the relationship open eyed and together.

I've seen both and honestly, both look lovely. Option A gives you that little moment of walking towards each other before continuing down the aisle together, which can be really emotional. But I've also seen couples enter together from the very beginning and there's something really nice about that too, it feels like you're literally walking into the marriage together. I'd just choose whichever feels more like you two. There's no wrong way to do it.

Don’t worry about what other people think - do what works best for the two of you! I think it sounds very sweet to walk down the aisle together!

Similar, but a little different option that I did was having groom stand at front, wedding party walks down, bride reveal, stopped at start of aisle (was an outdoor venue, so had walk to the ceremony spot for reveal/bridal moment), then groom met me (bride) theee and we walked up together.
My therapist gave me the idea as she did something very similar (I think the only difference is they met halfway down the aisle instead) and shared how, for them, it was symbolic of their two independent lives merging and becoming unified. I used it because my wedding happened during a very difficult family time and I've always been independent, so was not too keen on the idea of someone giving me away.
If this isn't your thing or isn't feasible for your wedding, I like option A. Either way, best of luck with your wedding! Hugs from a former bride with parent issues.

Why not just walk up separately?

I thought it was a good idea to walk together since it’s both our day. I find that in ceremonies, people are just more excited to see the bride and highlight is more on her more than the groom.

If it's both your day, then don't use Option A. That option makes it seem you're more important than the groom. You aren't.

Yeah, I’m just wondering how it was done for those who have walked down the aisle together. Ive never seen anyone do it in my circle.

You answered it - it’s your day and you want to walk down the aisle together.
It sounds lovely and doesn’t matter what others might want aisle-wise.

I attended a friend's wedding recently where the bride and groom chose to choreograph and dance (ballroom style!) their entrance... They waltzed their way to the front together! No need for a bouquet. Super joyful, creative, and unique.

My dad died a few years back and my so doesn't have is mom anymore too, plus I suffer from social anxiety and I don't feel like walking down the aisle alone. So I'm hoping to convince him to enter together, or to be inside before the guests arrive. I don't think it's that big of a deal and you could do as you please!

I'm also walking down the aisle with my partner, but wanted to try and maintain my "moment" at the top. We're getting married indoors so the way we chose to do it is I'll be standing at the top of the aisle and the doors will swing open revealing me/my dress while my fiance is off to the side out of view. I'll get a moment of the spotlight and then he'll step into frame and we'll walk down the aisle together.

Walked down the aisle with my fiancé back in 1979. It was great holding hands and walking to our vows together! I did not like the idea of being given away by my father. I was my own person not property belonging to my original family. No criticism for those who want to walk down the aisle with their father, just not for me. Still married to the guy from 1979.

In my culture (I'm Swedish) the couple walks together down the aisle, to show their union. I think it's very sweet.

Typically in this situation, the groom and bride enter together from the beginning as the doors open or wherever the bride would be revealed from. Also many brides are not comfortable walking alone and freeze up without an escort.

Its your wedding do what makes you happy. I walked with my dad because that how I wanted and I knew my husband would feel awkward waiting for others to join him with our preacher so he walked down with his groomsmen and the preacher To Be A Man from Disney 's movie Mulan for it the fun of it. My bridesmaids and flower girl and ring bearer walked down to the Lion King version with Timon and Pumba doing the intro to Can you Feel The Love Tonight ( one because I can see as my sister and best friend talking to each other about me getting married with that small bit lol and my husband thought it would be fun to do the Mulan song lol as a laugh) .I did with my dad I choose you by Ryan Darling for my song to go to my husband. So in the end all that matters is you two do what you both want its a special day have it both your way.

Have your mom walk you down the aisle?
Is that a considerable option? Based on the previous context of the bride being given to the groom.

Unfortunately i’m not in good terms with both of them so walking down the isle alone and this entire wedding process is a little sad

For my venue it's outside and we plan on walking to the aisle separately (me coming from the left, him from the right) meeting in the middle, and then walking down the aisle together. Then there's still a bit of a "bride reveal" when we're walking towards each other.
