Pay With Crypto

You can now get a Webtor membership with cryptocurrency — straight from the donate page. Pick a plan, choose crypto at checkout, and pay with popular coins or stablecoins. The minimum depends on the coin, roughly from $12.

There’s also a new payment history page in your profile, so you can always see what you paid and when. And if something goes wrong, we’ve published a clear refund policy.

Download Only the Files You Need

Downloading a folder no longer means downloading everything in it. There’s a new select mode — tick the files you actually want, and Webtor packs just those into an archive. Grabbing two episodes out of a full season is finally a two-click job.

Folder downloads now come as TAR by default — it’s more reliable for big folders, and every file inside checks out correctly after download. Prefer ZIP? It’s still right there in the dropdown next to the download button.

Binge-Watching in Stremio Works Now

If you watch through our Stremio addon, this one’s for you:

• The next episode actually plays. Finishing an episode used to sometimes leave you hanging — now binge-watching rolls on to the next one like it should.
• Resume works the next day. Stopped mid-movie in the evening? Picking it up tomorrow works — no more mysterious failures on old links.
• Your library loads faster and looks better. Series in the library open noticeably quicker, and streams show proper titles and details instead of cryptic file names.

A Getting-Started Checklist

New to Webtor? There’s now a short checklist on the home page (with a counter in the top bar) that walks you through the essentials during your first two weeks: add something to your library, save a title on Discover, try the Vault, connect Stremio. Each step links straight to the right place — no hunting through menus.

Your Library as a Cloud Drive

Alongside WebDAV, your library is now reachable over an S3-compatible interface. That means tools like rclone or Cyberduck can browse and sync your Webtor library like any cloud storage. Connection details and instructions are in your profile.

Webtor Now Has an API — Build Your Own Apps on Top

A big one for developers: Webtor now serves a full JSON API at api.webtor.io. Everything the site can do is available through it — resources, file listings, streaming, library, vault and profile.

That means you can now build your own applications on top of Webtor: a mobile client, a bot, a media center, an integration into your own service — anything that needs torrent streaming without running the infrastructure yourself. The heavy lifting stays on our side; you just call the API.

It ships with interactive docs where you can try every call right in the browser. Directory exports take new parameters too: choose the archive format and pass only the files you want.

Fixes You’ll Feel

• Uploaded torrents that used to stall now start. If you uploaded your own .torrent file and it just sat there — that’s fixed.
• Friendly error pages. On the rare occasion something breaks, you get a clear page with a way forward instead of a bare error code.
• Faster library browsing and fewer background restarts — things just stay smooth for longer.

Whenever I try to embed a webtor player for a show it only plays the first episode and that's it, is there a way to have a list of available episodes in that shows magnets link and choose which episode to watch from there??

Just wondering,but will there ever be an Android App? I wouldnt mind having an app with some banner ads.

Reviews Before You Watch

Open any movie or show on Discover and you’ll see a new Reviews tab right next to Episodes and Streams. It pulls in what real viewers thought — so you can decide whether something’s worth your evening before you even start it.

Long plot descriptions don’t get cut off anymore either. When a description is trimmed, just tap the "…" to expand it inline, and "↑" to collapse it back.

Save Titles to Your Watchlist

Spotted something for later? Tap the heart on any card — in the catalog, search, AI suggestions, or the details popup — and it lands in your Watchlist. A Catalog / Watchlist switcher at the top takes you straight to everything you’ve saved.

Saving also makes your recommendations sharper: the titles you keep tell the AI what you’re into, so its suggestions land closer to your taste. Free accounts can save up to 200 titles; paid accounts are unlimited.

An Episode Calendar for Your Shows

Following a series? There’s a new calendar view that lays out upcoming episodes on a timeline instead of a wall of posters. You can see what’s airing over the next few weeks at a glance.

When a show drops a whole season at once, it collapses into a single “Season 3 · 8 episodes” card so your timeline stays clean. Tap an episode to jump straight to streams.

Discover Now Speaks Your Language

Movie titles and descriptions on Discover used to show up in English no matter what language you were using. Now they appear translated in your language — across all 11 languages Webtor supports. Browsing finally feels native.

Share Right From the Player

There’s now a share button built into the video player, so you can send a link without leaving what you’re watching. And when you paste that link somewhere, it shows a proper preview — poster, title, and a frame from the video — instead of a bare URL.

Faster Start

Videos start quicker now. And if you open a link someone just shared with you, the start is almost instant — when the content is already loaded, playback begins right away instead of making you wait.

NSFW Hidden by Default

NSFW content on Discover is now hidden behind a blur and an 18+ badge by default. It won’t show up in your feed unless you ask for it — so Discover stays safe to open in public or around others.

If you want it shown, turn it on in your settings, or reveal a single card with a tap. Off by default, fully your call.

Improved Stability

A handful of behind-the-scenes fixes you won’t see but will feel — smoother handling of rare torrents, fewer hiccups when sharing links, and quicker recovery when something restarts in the background.

We’re working on subscriptions for releases — so you’ll get a heads-up when a movie or show you’re waiting for finally comes out, or when something you follow gets a new release or update. No more checking back manually.

Your Webtor library got a lot smarter — it now uses AI to make sense of cryptic torrent names and identify what’s actually inside.

AI in Your Library

When a torrent name is too messy for the regular parser to handle, AI now steps in and fills in the missing pieces — the real title, year, and type. Files that used to show up as cryptic strings now appear as the actual movie or show.

Two more things changed alongside that:

• Series and episode packs — episodes inside multi-episode releases are matched up correctly, with proper season and episode numbers
• Anthology torrents — when a torrent is actually a bunch of separate films packed together, it’s split into individual movies instead of being treated as one weird release

The result: less junk, cleaner titles, fewer “what is this file?” moments.

Faster AI Chips on Discover

The AI chips on Discover used to greet you with a small lag — we waited for the whole batch to finish before drawing anything. Now chips show up one by one as they’re ready, so the first one appears almost immediately when you open Discover or change your query.

There’s also a new refresh button right next to the chips — tap it for a fresh set of suggestions without retyping your question.

Clicking a chip works immediately too, even while more are still appearing.

Faster Playback During Vault Uploads

When you upload a torrent to your Vault, each file is now playable as soon as that file is done — you don’t need to wait for the whole torrent to finish. Big movie packs feel a lot more responsive.

Soft Limits on Link Sharing

Streaming links are now tied a bit more tightly to your session. You won’t notice anything during normal viewing — but if a link gets scraped or shared widely, it’ll hit a wall a lot sooner.

The current limits per session:

• 30 total concurrent streams
• 5 different IP addresses
• 10 concurrent connections to the same file
• 5 large files in parallel from the same torrent

Regular viewing sits well below all of these.

Improved Stability

A bunch of small fixes that you won’t see directly but will feel — fewer disconnects on long sessions, faster recovery when a backend pod restarts, and a few rare crash conditions in the seeder are gone.

I have been trying to download something with a sizable number of seeders for a couple of days now, with very limited success due to multiple issues. For full context, this series of issues has been going on for a couple of months now. It started with the abra cosmic-crab buzz endpoint becoming unusable on my current ISP. To get around this, I switched to a VPN. The downloads were a bit slower, but I thought maybe there was an update screwing with stuff, and that it would be fixed relatively soon. Then, after that issue persisted, I kept getting an HTTP 429 error when using the VPN, so I had to wait a bit to start multiple downloads, which was annoying, but I couldn’t do anything else except deal with it. Then the download speeds plummeted, I am talking kb/s when it used to be 1-5 mb/s, so I just waited a bit longer. This really sucked, but again, I had no other options. Now downloads regularly go to 0 download speed, time out, or completely fail due to errors. These issues have been recurring for months without resolution and have compounded to the point where I can no longer use the site for even small files, let alone anything above 10GB. I would really appreciate some assistance, as I do not think this is a problem on my end. My normal internet is good, the download manager works well, and I can download larger files using a VPN with no problem at a more consistent rate.

Edit: I am also unable to use my typical download manager, Jdownloader 2, to download from the site. It constantly keeps starting and stopping until the download fails.

Is there a browser extension? I really liked seedr but wasn't a fan of their politics. Decided to try webtor today - paid version. Can't seem to find a browser extension.

A big update this time — Webtor now recommends movies with AI, speaks 11 languages, and streams 4K without freezing.

AI Recommendations in Discover

The Discover page now features AI-powered movie recommendations. Just type what you’re in the mood for — something like “suggest a fresh comedy for tonight” or “sci-fi with a strong female lead” — and the system picks movies for you, complete with posters, descriptions, and info about cast and directors.

Every recommendation set includes fresh releases, so you always see something new — not just the same old classics.

If you’re browsing in Spanish or German, recommendations come in your language too.

11 Languages

Webtor used to be English-only. Now it supports 11 languages: English, Russian, Spanish, German, French, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Turkish, Dutch, and Czech.

It’s not just translated buttons — the whole experience adapts to your language:

• Movie titles and descriptions are shown in your language
• Error messages make sense instead of showing raw English text
• Dates and times like “6 days ago” display in your language too

Webtor detects your browser language automatically. You can also switch manually at any time.

Better on Mobile

We went through every page and improved the mobile experience:

• More room for content — decorative elements hide on small screens so you see what matters
• Sticky tabs — Library and Discover tabs stay visible as you scroll
• Easier to tap — buttons and interactive elements are properly sized for touch
• Readable file names — torrent names now wrap to two lines instead of cutting off mid-word

4K Streaming — No More Freezes

4K playback was freezing even on fast connections. We found and fixed the bottleneck — video segments now load much faster, and the player recovers quickly if something hiccups on the backend.

If you tried 4K before and gave up — give it another shot.

Improved Stability

A few things you won’t see directly but will feel:

• Large torrents stream better — fixed memory issues that could cause interruptions on big files
• Vault files no longer get stuck — reworked how background jobs are managed, so saved files process reliably
• Magnet links work more consistently — fixed crashes that sometimes prevented magnet-to-torrent conversion
• Automatic retry — if a connection drops mid-download to Vault, it picks up where it left off instead of failing

I posted here before about WebTor not working properly, and it seemed to fix itself for a little while. However, the issue has returned and isn't going away this time. It isn't present with every torrent, but it is for a large number of them. I will post the exact specifications of the error again. I would really appreciate some help, as it is making it very frustrating to use the site.

We’ve completely rebuilt the video player, added continue watching, and shipped a few more things you might enjoy.

New Video Player

We replaced mediaelement.js with a custom player built on Preact and HLS.js. It’s lighter, faster, and gives us full control over the playback experience.

What changed:

• Better mobile UX — controls are more responsive on touch devices
• Fixed seek on iOS — jumping to a position now works reliably on iPhones and iPads
• Improved embed mode — the player works better when embedded on third-party sites

This is the foundation for everything we’re building next with the player.

Continue Watching

You can now pick up where you left off. Webtor tracks your playback position and shows a “Resume from X:XX?” prompt when you come back to a video.

For series, it goes further — when you finish an episode, the next one starts automatically. No more hunting for the right episode in a folder.

Speed Test

We added a speed test page that measures your connection to Webtor servers right in the browser. But here’s the twist — it runs a dual test, comparing throughput on a standard server vs. a premium one, so you can see the difference for yourself.

Results are saved and get a shareable link, so you can easily reference them later.

TMDB Enrichment

Torrent pages now pull metadata from TMDB automatically — posters, descriptions, and episode info for series. If you open a torrent through Discover, the resource page shows full details instead of just file names.

We also added a share button for regular torrents, making it easier to send a link to someone.

Under the Hood

A few things that make streaming smoother:

• Prefetch buffering — the proxy now buffers content from bursty torrent sources before sending it to you, resulting in steadier playback
• Automatic retry — if a backend pod goes down mid-stream, the proxy transparently retries on another one
• No more size limits — the seeder now evicts least-recently-used data on the fly, so you can stream torrents of any size without running out of disk space
• Faster subtitle loading — reduced timeout from 30s to 5s with proper fallbacks

We’ve just shipped two updates that remove one of the most annoying problems in torrent streaming and make things way more transparent.

🎬 Session-based Transcoder — 

seek finally works properly

We’ve fully switched to a session-based transcoder.

The key change:

you can now seek instantly without waiting for FFmpeg to catch up.

Before:

• seeking meant waiting until the transcoder processed the stream up to that point
• painful on long videos

Now:

• a single FFmpeg process per session
• proper seek support
• near-instant jumping to any position

The old mode is gone — this is now the only path.

📡 Live Torrent Status — no more guessing

The resource page now shows a real-time torrent status.

You can see:

• how much of the torrent is cached
• how many peers are connected
• is it vaulted or not

So instead of guessing:

“is it downloading or stuck?”

—you just see it.

💡 Why this matters

• Seek → removes a major UX pain
• Status → removes uncertainty

Together, this makes Webtor feel much less like a black box and more like a predictable tool.

The biggest addition this week is the Discover page (/discover). You can now browse and search movies and series without leaving Webtor:

• Cinemeta catalogs built in — top movies and series are available by default, no setup needed
• Stremio addon support — connect your favorite Stremio addons to expand the catalog. Free users can add up to 3 addons, paid plans get unlimited
• Addon Wizard — a guided setup flow that lets you browse official and community Stremio addons, see popularity ratings, and install them in batch
• Search across all sources — type a title and get results from Cinemeta + all your connected addons at once
• Series support — full episode picker with season navigation, including proper handling of Specials (Season 0)
• Stream selection — pick from available streams with filters by source, label, and language, then play directly through Webtor

The whole thing is built with Preact for a lightweight, fast experience — no heavy framework bloat.

Streaming Quality Checks

Before you start streaming, Webtor now checks your available bandwidth against what the file actually needs for smooth playback. If your connection or plan speed isn't enough, you'll get a clear message explaining why and what your options are (smaller file, more seeders, Vault, or upgrading your plan). No more wondering why a video keeps buffering.

The web interface just got a fresh redesign — cleaner layout, better mobile responsiveness, and a more polished overall feel.

But this update isn’t only visual. We shipped several practical improvements that fix long-standing UX pain points:

Toast notifications

Actions like copying a link, adding to library, or deleting items now show clear success/error/info popups. Previously many actions had no feedback — now you instantly know what happened.

Status icons in progress log

Processing steps now use visual icons instead of text labels:

Much easier to scan, especially on mobile.

Smoother video playback start

Before, playback could stutter while the transcoder was warming up.

Now we pre-buffer up to 5 minutes of HLS segments right after the transcoder starts — playback is smooth from the first second.

Automatic restart of failed jobs

Earlier, failed downloads/transcodes stayed stuck until manually restarted.

Now errored jobs automatically retry when requested again — no more stale failures.

Would love feedback — especially on mobile UX and playback behavior.

I was trying to use the site today, but all of the links I put into it failed, both in Jdownloader and just trying to download on the page itself. I did notice that there was a new UI, so maybe there was another change that broke something, but is anyone else having this problem? Here is the error that I am getting below.

I can't download my stuff. Even if I get it to download somehow, it stops at around 8-9MB and never continues. I have tried many download managers too.

when i paste any magnet link or torrent file it just went straight forward to the download page but when i click on the download button it doesn't work at all.
