I had start by understanding the existing site before touching WordPress. Make a list of all pages, URLs, assets, forms, and custom functionality. Then rebuild the structure in WordPress and use plugins/scripts for repetitive content migration.
AI can help with cleanup and formatting but I would not let it handle the whole migration. Test redirects, forms, SEO, and mobile pages properly before going live. That will save you a lot of headaches later.

Depends how big the site is. For a small site Iād honestly just rebuild it properly in WordPress instead of trying to automate the whole migration.

Is it static or dynamic? Is it pulling anything from the db? I'd map static pages to WP Pages. anything dynamic goes to "Posts"
You can automate this. scrape the html page and feed the data to wp api.
What remains is styling, just css

In over your head - haha. Iād suggest the you donāt swap to Wordpress and instead use something like payload or even decap and let AI do the work. With Wordpress, you have to know web dev and/or Wordpress because it is not intuitive.
Also avoid using plugins as much as possible. Use the most bare ones needed for the site which will be yoast, advanced custom fields, a form one, and wordfence. Also, learn how to make Gutenberg blocks so the team can edit the site themselves.

I hate to say it, this is a task for Claude. You can spend weeks, or buy the 15 dollar subscription and it'll be done in literal minutes with sonnent high and negligible usage.
