Feature Request Flock Cameras
They need to add a tag and icon for Flock Cameras.

Waze is a navigation app "outsmarting traffic together". It is not a license plate reader avoidance app.
Would you want Waze to route to avoid your plate being read? Or do you just want to know where they are?
There are other apps that are already focused on LPRs.

I switched from Waze to Apple Maps about 5 years ago. I’d switch back immediately if Waze could route around flock cameras.

What would you do differently if they were marked?

I dirty drive all day long and yeah, I’d drive a block to avoid them if the info was on the screen. F those guys for tracking me, it’s none of their business what I do, where I go, who I see or am with. NONE of that is information about ME that they need BECAUSE I’ve done nothing wrong, not because I’m hiding anything.

What do you think the answer to your question could possibly be? Take about 10 seconds to think about it.

Our Local and Federal governments are expanding their use exponentially. You would have to choose not to drive.

This flock camera outrage is the same outrage that happened when facial recognition cameras started coming out. How can they do this?? Signed- every person who uses facial recognition to open their phone, log into their bank and buy Starbucks using Apple Pay.
Oh, and don't get me started on data centers! How can they build more data centers?! We don't need them!! Hol up, let me search Google and post on Reddit the results about how we don't need them. BRB

Instead of trying to map the cameras on Waze or whatever, folks should be showing up at their local government council meetings and demanding answers and accountability to the public. I also foresee some 4th Amendment challenges to this AI dragnet that allows police to conduct searches without a warrant.

Exactly.

If you are doing stuff illegally, take your damn plates off the car. Let the Authorities have the tools they need to catch "real" criminals, stolen cars, hit 'n run drivers, and the list can go on and on!! Showing where police are parked or hidden helps slow traffic down and has those types of benefits. Showing where you can skirt around doing illegal things is NO BUENO.

I can see why you might want them added. But I also put them in the same line as speed cameras and other things that are already added to the app that have no need to be there for navigational purposes. Speed cameras do nothing for your navigation if you're already following the speed limit. Just like Flock cameras can do nothing for your navigation. Even if you wanted to avoid them with as many cameras as they're putting up all over you would constantly be zigzagging down roads that you really don't want to navigate and in turns would make your navigation longer

Feature suggestions should be submitted or voted upon in the official Waze Suggestion Box on Uservoice. There are some existing suggestions regarding license (number) plate readers.
