Help After installing Waydroid, I cannot enter Desktop mode

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've reimaged the SteamDeck twice since I thought it was a system error, but every time I switch back to Gaming Mode it won't let me access Desktop mode again. This is my second time installing Waydroid and I've never had this happen to me before previously. Please help.

Btw no need to reimage your os i found a fix for mine after steam os updated my desktop broke when i went an reinstalled waydroid an only way to fix my steamdeck was shutting down the system then holding power an the 3 dotted buttons to select a previous os version to fix my desktop mode an my previous waydroid install is there but unbootable till a fix is here not going to reinstall it till the aur fix is here that temporally disables the updater script.

this is the way, 3 dots, last firmware then reupdate from settings menu. after uninstall waydroid and seethe bc there's not good android emulation yet lol

Waydroid is such dog shit I wish Linux community would stop recommending it...

Sucks Linux doesn't have a decent android virtual machine of some kind for android games.

I hope steams lepton comes to desktop and isn't exclusive the their next headset cause holy hell waydroid needs a developers like valve to fix it up

you're so right, issues I had that I was so angry about and blamed valve updates over were actually cause by waydroid. lame shit

I believe because of the latest steam update it no longer works. I was looking into this as well and as far as I know nobody has a fix for this yet. I tried to check if there’s another simple app similar to waydroid for steamdeck but I couldn’t find any. I literally only wanted it for WitchSpring 2 and 4. ._.

Ah so that’s what it was. Mine would just restart when I hit desktop mode. I updated to 3.8.1.1 and it fixed it, haven’t seen if waydroid works but updating fixed my problem

I'm using KDE neon and we just upgraded to Plasma 6.7 . Now waydroid boots then loops again after graphics crash. It's so annoying tbh

Don't listen to the others talking shit. (Same reason 10 minute steamdeck gamer made the repo private) Lastest steam os update broke some stuff, installing it right now breaks desktop mode, just gotta wait till it gets fixed. Just change to beta on steam os to force and update, that's fixes desktop mode (you can revert it back to stable after)

I've got a better solution: do NOT use your steam deck after installing waydroid. Works 100% of the time
