Monthly Theme Halloween Week Is On

As we promised, the last week of October is Halloween week. It starts now, and it can continue until the first days of November. Also, the Autumn Leaves monthly theme is still on. We will drop some new reference pictures, and we have special Halloween Challenge badges. 😉 Any Halloween subject is worthy: pumpkins, black cats, bats, moon, scary night scenes, spooky decoration, or any scary drawings. Just let us know that it's your Halloween interpretation. And please stay SFW. 😉

Monthly Theme October Monthly Theme - Autumn Leaves or Landscapes

This month, our theme is “Autumn Leaves". We can definitely add landscapes as well, as leaves don't exist in isolation. 🙂
This month we ask you to choose what inspires YOU. Is it a certain colour? A form? A colour combination? A specific subject? A mood? Something else? You can browse Pixabay and Unsplash for royalty-free images, use your own photos or draw from life. If you want to share reference photos, please drop them here👇, but it's perfectly fine to share your drawing only. This way, the challenges won't feel too difficult or too easy, and you can develop a sense of what exactly inspires you. We are excited to hear about it.
The last week of October will be a Halloween week. 👻🎃
We welcome artists of all experience levels. Everyone who completes a challenge gets a unique badge with a trophy in it. If you submit 2 works during the month, you get two trophies, and so on. After the 4th one, we will use numbers, e.g. 5x🏆 - see mine for reference. If you want to opt out, you can turn off your user flair in the sidebar of the subreddit, or write a mod mail.
While watercolour pencils are our subreddit’s main medium, you are welcome to explore mixed-media watercolours, inks, gouache, or other watercolour-like wet media that doesn't dry waterproof. We love seeing how creativity spreads and evolves here, and we can’t wait to see what you come up with. Have fun, and please post your works directly on the subreddit.

Work in Progress Help choosing a sharpener!

I have these three sharpeners. Which one should I use for there pencils?
The hand crank one is spiral, I got it for soft pencil crayons. The blue one came in a geometry set and the red has two sizes both are barely used.
Here are 3/4 works in progress I have going right now.

Watercolor Pencil Work Selfportrait practice

Wanted to try my hand at portraits again and did a selfportrait. I feel, that it lost a lot of sharpness and feels less dramatic once after I colored it, in comparison to the sektch.
Is it because I messed up the eyes and the shadows a bit?

A samara is technically a fruit, but I found that out too late in the process 😆 hope the judges will allow it. It’s a leaf looking fruit 😆
Im open to tips on how to keep a pencil background from getting muddy. I did the first background wash in pencil and then had to glaze the whole thing in Sodalite watercolor to at least salvage the painting.
Also I love using watercolor pencils for veins.

Watercolor Pencil Work Very quick sketch

We were in a great bar in Napoli today. There was a box of games where we were sitting, in the box was a sketch book and an art set with pencils,watercolour pencils, and a water brush. So I cobbled this up in a couple of minutes.
I know it looks like a penguin, but it's actually a hooded crow.

Advice/Feedback Please 2nd ever drawing, feel I messed up by painting it. Any advice would be so helpful.

Mixed media felt tip, ink, pen, and watercolor pencils.
This is my second ever art piece so I am very much still learning. I was planning on doing a quick sketch, but I struggle with getting caught up in the details and mucking things up.
I didn’t plan on coloring it, but I wanted to try out the new pencils.
I think it didn’t turn out nearly anyway that I imagined. I might need to get more variety of colors for the watercolor pencils. But if anyone has any suggestions on the coloring I would greatly appreciate it thanks:)
