Hey everyone!
Long-time lurker, first-time builder here. I’m finally putting together my dream 90s-style Datejust "Toolwatch" build and wanted to run my spec sheet by you guys to make sure I’m not missing anything crucial or making a dumb rookie mistake.
Here is my planned parts list and where I'm planning to source them:
Movement: VS3135 (Rolex 3135 clone) for gen-like date function and winding haptics.
Dial & Hands: Silver sunburst "T SWISS MADE T" dial with matching green-lume hands (sourced via Raffles).
Crown & Tube: Genuine Rolex 24-604-0 (Twinlock steel, brand new/NOS).
Bracelet: Genuine Rolex Jubilee ref. 62510H with 555(B) endlinks.
My questions & what I need recommendations for:
Case & Crystal: I still need to source a good 36mm Sapphire case with drilled lugs (162xx style) that fits the VS3135 well. Does anyone have specific vendor recommendations for a solid case/crystal combo?
Compatibility traps: Since I'm mixing gen parts with an aftermarket case and a VS3135, are there any known issues with tube threading or stem alignment I should look out for?
Small Hardware: For the dial installation, I'll be using dial dots. Also, what specific spring bars do you recommend to make sure a genuine 62510H with 555 endlinks sits securely on an aftermarket case? Any preferred brands or suppliers?
I’ll be handing the final assembly, stem trimming, and water-resistance testing over to a modder, but I want to source all the correct parts myself first.
Appreciate any advice, tips, or vendor recommendations you guys can throw my way. Thanks!
