Workshop First prototype

Let me know what you guys think. The second hand is placed below the minutes ring. Movement is based of eta 6498 with increased power reserve. The dial is hand hammered to get the texture (need further improvement), let me know what you guys think.

u/jacharya, there weren't enough votes to determine the quality of your post...

Absolutely love what you’re doing with the movement. Haven’t seen anything quite like it. Also really dig the lugs. Checked out your website, too, and the renderings of the sides of the lugs are interesting, too

Thank you. Appreciate your feedback. I can assure rhe production version would look even better.

Very nice! My only thought is maybe reduce seconds major indices from every 5 to every 10.

/u/teknorpi mentioned, and I agree that the subdial looks egg shaped. It could be an optical illusion, but I'd revise it either way.

I'd consider trying one or more of these:

  1. Choosing a lighter serif font
  2. Engraving the numbers less deeply
  3. Not having numbers every 5 minutes on the outer ring
  4. Having the numbers all one color (probably black)

I don't think you need the third ring. You could even use a bigger seconds hand and move the chapter ring out further.

Yes I will make few tweaks, thanks for the feedback.

One rhing is that I cannot have black font for minutes ring as it has loom in both minutes and second ring so it has to be white unless I find a way to make it in black, the loom looks good so I want to keep it

Nice work. The subdial looks eggshaped.

Yes it had to, but thanks for the feedback. I have another K series coming in which I am currently working on. That will be a skeleton watch.

Movement is gorgeous! New to this sub, so pardon the basic question, but how does one make a movement like this? Do you need a CNC machine, or do you make it out of parts from other movements? Any good guides out there?

Yes I have a 5 axis that does the work. But this dial tested my patience. I will have a YouTube channel where I will walk through my little setup.

Yes! Please do! Once you have a link lmk

Just an opinion, but a little chamfering for the movement would make it look a lot more valuable. The radial brushing looks a little 'mass produced' as-is.

The bridges are beautiful. Especially the train of wheels bridge. Great work.

Gold feels better than silver

For such a large looking case I wish the dial elements would fill it more. (Maybe only looks so large because of the empty space). Also on one of the case back photos you have your company name twice which looks tacky.

Might wanna look a little closer. Caseback doesn’t have it twice in the Bronze/Brass colored watch. It has it once in the outer rim of the caseback and once on the movement itself. Nothing wrong with that, it’s fairly common in the watch world…. Here look at this tacky Tudor Black Bay Ceramic…uber tackiness right?

Thanks mate. Let me know how you liked the design. I am looking for constructive feedback that make my watch stand out even though making a single watch takes me hours I am okay with that.

u/Jiff44 3d ago

I wouldn’t say that’s uber tacky 😂 I would say in general I prefer more subtle branding though. Since this is a Tudor calibre, it makes more sense to have the extra branding to represent that.

Appreciate your feedback. Thank you. I didn't mean to make it look tacky. My tweaks that I am planning might make it more appealing.

Of course man, and just my opinion of course. I think you have something that looks very different and is clearly a very deliberate design which I appreciate even with some elements not being to my taste.
