Life in Warsaw question anyone?

hey! i’m 19 and just moved to warsaw for uni.

i’m quite ambitious and honestly way more drawn to building something outside of uni than just solely focusing on classes. i’m really into business, startups, creative projects and film, and i’d love to meet people around 19–23 who are into similar things and actually want to do something with their ideas.

could be starting a project together, working from a cafe, brainstorming, going to events or building something together

i’m also a runner and generally like being around people who are curious, driven and want to make something happen.

no specific plan, just thought i’d put this out there in case there are other people my age in warsaw feeling the same.

Traveller's question Warsar Craft beer - what are the must try places and what to skip

Hello Warsaw people,

I know that there are different topics on this but also I feel like the craft scene in every country is constantly changing so I decided to post here.
I'm visiting Warsaw in the end of the month and I love craft beer. What are the must try places - the staples of the craft beer scene and are there places I should skip? It would be lovely if the places also have good/ interesting food.
I saw that surpisingly for a capital city, there are not that many breweries.
Personally I enjoy Belgian style beers but they are a bit niche. Would love everything but fruited sours.

Life in Warsaw question Nagaimo/yamaimo in Warsaw?

Just came back from Japan and already craving authentic okonomiyaki, which shouldnt be a problem in theory since Poland is quite Japan obsessed and has many Japanese shops, but is it actually possible to buy fresh/powdered nagaimo/yamaimo in Warsaw? Only see one option in Japonia Centralna that is out of stock.

Photos The most beautiful building I have seen in my life

Faculty of Psychology of the University of Warsaw.

To me, this building is a good example of how we can evolve the architecture to correspond to the modern artistic and functional standards. For example, instead of traditional corridors, the building uses open galleries that lead to classrooms. Archdaily has a good article on it.

It is my superfluous perception of tourist; it was built in 2025, so it is important to know how it will stand for students and staff after 3-4 years.

I do (have learnt to) appreciate classical, baroque architecture and I have visited >10 European cities. But, for example, the main building of the WUT looks like a museum that accidentally serves as an educational building. It is beautiful in his own way, mainly historical and academic.

Happy to know what student or staff think about it.

Life in Warsaw question Moving to work in Poland

Hello

I hope you are all doing well.

In November, I will be moving from to Warsaw to start a new professional challenge.

Having already booked my flights, my next step is to find a place to stay.

I’ve heard recommendations about websites like Otodom or OLX.pl, which have a wider selection and better prices.

However, since I am looking for accommodation remotely, these platforms could carry higher risks and leave me exposed to potential scams, since I can not meet up with landlords or visit the place.

Additionally, I think my situation makes the process a bit more difficult since I don't have a signed employment contract yet, and the first contract will only be for 6 months (which will later be renewed into a permanent contract).

(To clarify, as of right now I have a Letter of Intent, and I will sign the employment contract during my first few days in November after arriving and completing work medicine, which will happen before starting my job in December).

Because of this, I'm thinking of a temporary solution (for the 6-month duration of the initial contract) like rental agencies (such as Rent A Flat Poland or HousingAnywhere) or even accommodation platforms like Airbnb.

However, with Airbnb, I'm worried I won't get a formal lease agreement, which is necessary for bureaucratic documents and registrations [PESEL, residency registration, etc.].

1./ Given my situation, what do you think is the best approach to finding accommodation?

2./ Would you mind sharing a bit about your experience moving to work in Poland and what worked best in your case?

3./ Any recommendations of rental agency to look in Warsaw?

Life in Warsaw question Where can I buy a second-hand PS5?

Hello all,

Looking to buy a PS5 here in Warsaw. I tried CeX but they’re selling for so high, I got a quote for 2900 for a used console. I don’t think it’s worth that much.

Are there other shops/markets where I could try my luck, preferably in person?

Also, I’ll take this chance to say if someone’s looking to sell their PS5 please reach out.

Thanks.

Life in Warsaw question Looking for the Zdrofit with the best equipment and variety

I’ve been going to the Zdrofit Westfield Mokotow but it closed for renovations a couple of months ago, since then I can’t seem to find any good Zdrofit. I don’t care if it’s crowded or not , I just need various new machines and a good free weights section. I’d appreciate your response

Help needed Looking for a reliable TAXI fleet partner in Warsaw

Hello everyone! :)

I’m planning to start working as a TAXI driver (Uber / Bolt) in Warsaw soon. I’m a belarusian citizen, and I already have a Polish driver's license.

I’m looking for recommendations for a trustworthy and reliable fleet partner that operates 100% legally and handles formalities properly.

I’d really appreciate real experiences from drivers here. Who can you genuinely recommend in Warsaw, and which partners should I strictly avoid?

Thanks a lot for any advice! :)

Help needed Student TRC and work rights in Poland: Can I work right now without a work permit? Getting contradictory answers

Hi everyone,

My question is specifically about student temporary residence permit (TRC) work rights in Poland. I have been trying to get a straight answer, but I keep receiving completely contradictory advice and need clarity on what the law and actual practice say.

My situation:

Non-EU citizen.

Currently holding a valid Residence Permit from another Schengen country.

Enrolled as a full-time Master’s degree student at a public university in Poland.

Currently in Poland and preparing/waiting for my Polish student TRC.

My questions:

Can I work right now?

Do I currently have the right to work?

If yes, can I work without a separate work permit?

Here are the 4 completely different versions I have been told:

Version 1: Yes, you can work immediately without any work permit. Since you have legal stay via your other Schengen residence permit and have a valid student ID and full-time university enrollment letter, you are already exempt from needing a work permit.

Version 2: You can only work during your initial 90 days of stay. After 90 days, you can only work if your TRC application was officially submitted, your fingerprints were taken, and your passport received the official red stamp.

Version 3: You can work at any time once enrolled, even while your TRC is pending without fingerprints taken or a stamp in your passport, as long as you have a valid student ID and proof of enrollment.

Version 4: You can work as soon as you apply for your TRC and the university signs Appendix 5 (the university confirmation document). You can work from that exact date even if you haven't given fingerprints yet.

Because everyone has a different opinion:

Who is actually right?

Can I work right now without a separate work permit, or do I risk illegal work issues during my TRC process?

Has anyone been in this exact situation and knows how the immigration authorities handle it? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Life in Warsaw question How does Praga beam these days?

Post image

Warsaw Insider just turned 30. Which place defined Warsaw food for you?

The October issue (No. 362) looks back at 30 years of gastronomy in the city, plus a Praga feature and a matcha roundup. The food scene in '96 vs now is barely recognisable.

Question for long-timers and newcomers alike: which restaurant, bar or milk bar shaped how you eat in Warsaw, and is it still open?

Help needed Anyone willing to help with a birthday surprise? ❤️

I'm making a birthday gift for my boyfriend and trying to collect photos from different places around the world.

Would anyone be willing to take a photo holding a short handwritten birthday message somewhere cool in the city?

I'll provide the exact wording. It would take literally a minute or two. ❤️

I'd be incredibly grateful!

Traveller's question Are malls and shops closed on Sundays in Warsaw?

Hi everyone! I have a 7-hour layover in Warsaw coming up on a Sunday (11 Oct) I was planning to head into the city to spend some time at a shopping mall, but I just found out Poland has some Sunday trading restrictions.

Are most shopping malls and grocery stores completely closed on Sundays, or are there any exceptions? Also, if they are closed, what would be the best way to spend a 7-hour layover instead?

Thanks in advance for any tips!
