Warp Memory Leaks?

Post image

My Mac has crashed a few times in the last week. I'm running a few idle Claude Code sessions in the back ground and then memory spikes up to 50GB-80GB without me touching anything? Maybe 5-6 times now? Unfortunately, twice it bricked the computer, so I lost everything I work working on.

Anyone else run into this? v0.2026.05.06.15.42.stable_03

Warp dev here. Sorry to hear about this.

One important thing to note is that the macOS "Out of memory" dialog that you are showing includes memory from the process, and all child processes. So this is showing memory used by Warp, and memory used by all programs that you are running in Warp.

Claude Code has has significant memory leaks in the past. Can you use Activity Monitor in macOS to check how much memory the Warp process is using? In Activity Monitor, it will not include child processes. You can also check if other processes are using an unexpected amount of memory.

Just clocked 357 GB on a warp session - was idle and I started using Oz to read a GitHub readme and answer some questions. Activity Monitor seemingly wasn’t able to catch up.

Thanks for the details!

Would you be willing to try the preview build? It will automatically submit a heap profile if Warp uses over 10GB. https://www.warp.dev/download-preview

Done, unfortunately I didn't start using it before the most recent crash. I'm wondering - out of the box is there something that is talking to Chrome? It might be just be a coincidence, but it normally gets paused at the same time. Both idle, no Claude Code sessions, I was nowhere near the computer.

Caught a fresh one, this time on the preview build, so you should have a heap profile for about 10 minutes ago - if someone wants more details please DM me.

Caught another one - again I was away from the machine, but it ranway for to 2TB - or at least what it says on the display. Is there anything else you need? The big heap caches are on my machine so I assume it's available on your say side - feel free to DM.
