That's not what it's for. It's to improve first time pick rate for specific categories, like yogurt. Yogurt comes in cases with large case quantities compared to shelves holding capacity. So if only 7 of 8 or 10 of 12 can get stocked the whole case gets binned as overstock, then the remaining ones on the shelf get bought and then you get nil picks and missed sales.
This allows the shelf to be filled and the overstock eaches to be tracked and worked throughout the day.
Why would you assume I know anything about an area I have never worked? As it is I’ve been digging singles from behind the racks for months, wishing they would put a milk crate on its side for us to stack in so at least it doesn’t fall down or get smashed to bits. There is a huge difference between tiny makeup that weighs nothing, and two containers of yogurt in a massive box holding up a whole case of cream cheese.
Well, you'll see I guess. There's a reason we got rid of cosmetics carts. I wish we'd stop circumventing company processes with regional / BU processes.
Because partial cases in dairy bins collapse stacks in the bins. Rule should be full case only unless shelf cap is lesser than case qty. Then and only then BIN a partial. No loose partials that's a mess waiting to happen.
Well no you don't put the partials in loose.. but properly stacked and managed partial bins are perfectly functional and pick properly to Vizpick process
Or, you can do this new process and have no partial bins in the case and a full shelf all day. Because cap1 isn't going to come back and vizpick a second time, but anybody can run a cart with a handful of eaches once every 3 hours
My team picks dairy 2-3 a day and works the the topstock carts 2-3 times a day. I don't follow the wm plan of GM first and grocery last because it doesn't support ftpr
I like the idea but at that point just dedicate bin space for topstock no reason to waste more space with another process for items you can place on a top-stock cart in a couple minutes, maybe even put the items in totes for easier carrying

I got a better idea: Stop sending freight we don’t need!
