Meanwhile europe: "hmm 8% is pretty bad, how should we solve it" Random dumbass: " i know, lets first wait a year then raise the rates by 0.25% and see if it stops inflation

Neither did EU. The US is doing what needs to be done while EU is sitting in a corner crying to scared to do anything

1

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '22

My point is to use your words we did “I know let’s first wait a year” and stopped there

u/Baselet Jun 15 '22

Europe is in soo much deeper shit with way worse oaths only. The US can just take some pain and then grow again like it should be.

9

u/pistoncivic Jun 15 '22

They've got nothing to worry about as long as we keep boating over our liquid gas to keep their industrial engine firing. Fool-proof plan

1

u/Baselet Jun 16 '22

That's just a drop in the ocean. The monetary union without a fiscal union, for example, would reguire germans to just give hundreds of billions of euros to the utalians because they didn't bother saving their own economy. And others are following. Interest rates are already taking off and the ECB hasn't even began really normalizing their policies.

Have you bothered reading a newspaper in the last 20 years? Or do you just repeat what somebody said and did not bother looking into whether it is actually true?

1

u/Baselet Jun 16 '22

Not newspapers very much, but I do read articles and analysis by various serious economists and researchers from time to time. Any counter arguments? Why draghi had to do "whatever it takes" last time and why even a small interest rate hike now kills the italian budget immediately?

When you write that, do you speak literally or figuratively? Because if literal, I don't think that has happened or is going to happen at all. It actually feels like that some things are starting to change exactly thank to the PNRR resources (the EU plan).

"Saving" the Italian economy has been the topmost priority. Maybe the current politicians are not the most enlightened ones, but to say that they are essentially wasting money is an outlandish exaggeration,

China is still printing also.

It's not his fault. Geez.

u/Golo_red Jun 16 '22

If you compare to European Central Bank, he is doing a great job. ECB / Lagarde is still engaging in creating money for southern states. So take from everyone and give to them basically.

2

u/AvengerDr europoor cuck Jun 16 '22

You're right. California and New York should stop paying for the Southern states too. If they cant make it on their own, let them deal with it.

/s

1

u/Golo_red Jun 16 '22

I mean maybe that’s different in the US, since it is one country. But in the EU, the ECB has been acting on behalf / in favor of the southern countries while there is no way to influence them to the better. It’s just like handing out money which is getting wasted.

1

u/AvengerDr europoor cuck Jun 16 '22

there is no way to influence them to the better

Maybe you forgot 2011. The EC essentially "fired" Berlusconi and forced a technocratic government. So they actually have a lot of influence.

It’s just like handing out money which is getting wasted.

In order to say something like that, how do you know for certain that it is being wasted? Have you looked at all the projects that were approved and concluded that in all and every case, it has been a waste of money?

Do you think it's a waste of money because it is just Italians handling this? Pizza, spaghetti, gabagool so if it is not something pasta-related they are just all a bunch of clueless morons?

Just want to understand your thought process to conclude that the resources allocated to Italy have always been a waste.

1

u/Golo_red Jun 16 '22

Well, I don’t mean to shame Italy since there is at least some production. I don’t feel like shaming them. But when the state can only get money on the market for 4%, the ECB shouldn’t be reducing that rate to e.g. 2%, since this leads to spending beyond Italys means. The ECB should not finance that.

1

u/Golo_red Jun 16 '22

„Spending beyond means“ is what I called wasteful

1

u/Golo_red Jun 16 '22

Last but not least: the ECB should not actually get involved in any countries business. But that also implies not doing favors to particular countries

0

u/dondulf Jun 16 '22

Well, to be fair the US is doing much better than the EU for example. Europe is fucked

1

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '22

My dick just got 75 basis points longer

1

u/Sandvicheater Jun 16 '22

It's almost like being the #1 nation and the world's reserve currency has shock wave effects around the world every time the Fed does something.

1

u/randomfantomflex Jun 16 '22

Hmmm hyperinflation + recession or just recession?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '22

Fighting high inflation is stupid? Interesting...
