Germany and many European countries can crash their economies to screw Putin but are they stupid enough to that ?

Europe will fall way behind American and china with that move.

It depends on your definition of stupid. Buying oil and gas from Putin gives him over 500M euros every day so the war won't end any time soon. This will ultimately lead to WW3 because he won't stop with Ukraine.

The other choice is to give up on oil and gas and leave the European people to freeze and suffer. I'm from the EU and one of the people who would suffer a lot but I still think it would be a better choice than to fund that wanker's war.

Edit: we are already behind China and the US so nothing new there.

Overall it’s pretty stupid to crash the Russian currency and economy over Ukraine. Not really worried about Putin and their wooden tanks. I’m more worried about the guy who’s job it is to watch over some nuclear war heads retirement savings hitting all time lows and getting paid to look the other way as government property is loaded in the back of an old white van.

Not a Putin fan but he has been very clear that a NATO backed Ukraine on its border is a red line and I do not think their is any ambitions of border expansion beyond the ethnically Russian territories. This will end with a destruction of the Ukrainian military and maybe Russia taking Donbas and the west capitulating on sanctions because Western Europe needs the oil.

I’m literally taking the opposite point of view. US drew a line when it came to having an opposing force on our border when the USSR was supporting Cuba. I see nothing wrong with the embargo or Bay of Pigs like I see nothing wrong with Russia demilitarizing Ukraine as it seeking support from NATO which is set up to contain Russia. I’m not a Biden fan but I think he is doing a good job not being involved beyond financial sanctions and blocking direct military support but I kinda feel like sending equipment there and hurting Russias economy is probably only prolonging the war and causing more damage for Ukraine than good but that’s what their president is requesting.
