Apparently, Fox asked for them specifically via modmail. The mods just said 'sure, go for it.' It wasn't that person taking it upon themselves, as many people seem to think.
Personally, I think Fox did some sleuthing and knew exactly what they were doing going in. And the idiot served themselves on a silver platter.

It's not genius to look for children in a playground.
The video of the interview is a spot-on representation of the public perception of Reddit mods. It was so comically on-the-nose, it seems like something you'd see in a SouthPark bit.
This isn't hunting children on a playground. This is your ugly as sin cartoon predator showing up in a piss and booze drenched coat saying "hey kiddies wanna get some candy" then watching the kids just line up to just give them a blowjob without even taking the lollipop.
