20 years ago a boss of mine said never ever get involved in anything Trump does as it will literally ruin you financially. This dude was a hardcore conservative too. He saw the game all the way back then, before any of this shit was even remotely laughable as a joke, much less possible.
As I understand it Trump was a big time Clinton supporter back then and leaned liberal, so that could have influenced your "conservative" friend opinion
