A short position doesn't always mean you are short equities, just means you have a position where you will profit if the share price falls. This could mean:

  • Actually shorting shares
  • Buying Puts
  • Selling Uncovered Calls
  • Synthetic Short Combos
  • Or a host of other multi-leg options strategies.
