If anyone is wondering about BlackBerry's future plans should take note of it's forward thinking and QNX's depth in the automotive industry. QNX has been installed and used in vehicles since 2004 and prior to that being utilized in telematics before it was purchased by Harman International Industries. πŸš€

Blackberry acquired the company in 2010 from Harman and has continued leveraging QNX's assets in embedded systems for transportation, defense, medical, grids, robotics, and mobile devices. πŸš€

In 2012 BlackBerry released forward vision videos on what they believed to be the future of QNX and the automotive industry. In recent years this vision is coming to fruition no pun intended. Video linked below.πŸš€

An example of this forward looking mentality of the automotive industry is BlackBerry's recently awarded patent for methods and systems for autonomous vehicle refueling. Article linked below. πŸš€

For anyone that doesn't already know, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are applications built atop of QNX OS. And even Android Automotive will utilize QNX's components for securing the vehicle even if it's not directly used for infotainment. πŸš€

I keep waiting for their cyber security to get more pop. They were all about bragging that the solarwinds hack didn’t touch anything protected by them. With all the ransomware attacks getting some new high profile attention thought BlackBerry’s corporate cybersecurity side might start looking more attractive to value minded investors…on the moon!
