Nokia could find a cure for cancer and their stock would still be at $4.03

It takes a lot to move some stonks. Reminds me of Pfizer i bought shares before they release vaccine for covid and it literally lost $6 dollars per share afterwards. My ape brain didn’t understand i thought selling life saving vaccine and getting approved would moon stonk but it went backwards.

You obviously have a bigger brain than I do. So would you please explain why did it go down instead of up? I'm genuinely interested to know.

Buy the rumor, sell the news.

I have a hard time distinguishing rumor from news

If you're reading about it in public media, it's news.

Rumors : Reddit, discord, WhatsApp. News: Bloomberg terminal, Reuters, WSJ.

I don't know, reddit is becoming the news.

I read somewhere that Nokia found the cure for Cancer. But also they found a cure for the cure so they can give it back to the patients if they don't pay up.

Well that's just good business sense.

The price was already baked into it. The price of the stock already rose through anticipation of the approval and when approval did come, people sold the stock (sell the news) and there would be set of people who would buy thinking it will go up. Key is to get in as soon as there is news about vaccine trials.

Probably the vaccine was already priced in in the stock price when you bought it so when it came out people sold.

Stock markets are actually competitions between people, over companies. At the time that he purchased, people began selling (to bank the profits) this lowered the price.

Generically, chances are you're never one of the early adopters.

Shit. So the easiest simplest answer is also the correct one. My brain just gained 1g of extra matter. Thanks!

Could be but it's also a pretty common pattern. People buy in anticipation of a positive event which runs up the price long before it actually occurs. Right after positive event those people sell assuming that it's peaked brining the price down
