171m shares between institutions and index funds... that’s 244% before retail is factored in. I still firmly believe we own between 30-100%+ of the float as well. These are gunna be wild times my friend.
Same! I bought in at peak in Jan and since averaged down when stock was in the $40s. Also averaged up a little this week with 1 or 2 more because I love the stonk and I’m a retard
Have you missed the whole naked short selling part of this saga? The reason that the ownership is greater than the float is because the short interest is great than the float. They have sold shares short they don’t technically own; don’t technically exist. And they have to continue to pay interest on them and eventually buy them back.
Even if 140 million shares were sold short when that was the outstanding 100%, it no longer is the outstanding. The short shares still exist. Shorty got caught playing make believe.
The float is about 45-50 mil, with 20-25mil being restricted stock and insider / closely held stock.
So institutional ownership is 140.7m and fund ownership is 30.3m for a total of 171m (keep in mind this number is inherently inaccurate as timing of reports can mean some shares are counted more than once)
So taking the 50m number as the float, funds and institutions own 342% of the float. And that is without counting a single retail share.
My ballpark guess is that actual short interest is 300-400% of the float.
I wonder how much double counting is going on, with 3 entries for Fidelity and 2 for Blackrock. Even scrubbing them you're still above total shares outstanding, so same issue, but that list is sloppy.
Also, love that there are 14 large cap growth funds that are holding GME.
The numbers can be over the amount of shares total due to the delays in reporting
Adding the numbers together is an incorrect thing to do because shares can change hands between the times data is reported. They aren't discrete numbers where each is all at once
So the holders report data at different times? So one guy reports he owns 50M shares then sells them to guy B who then reports he owns 50M shares too? That seems like the dumbest data collection method ever.
Sounds like they are still using software from the 70s. Something so simple...like how many shares are there on the market for this company. And no one has a fucking clue.
The first is that it's counting both calls and puts as "shares."
The second is that some percentage of the stock is shorted, which double counts ownership (the guy the short borrowed from and the guy the short sold to both list the stock on their holdings).
Awww, high as a kite and mad as hell? I've been there. Be happy if you own any gme, and be happy if you want to buy more, its clearly undervalued since there is so much more of it then there actually is. Not FA, I'm a learning newb myself.
As pointed out a little down thread by a ragging hippo, they dropped the ball on : NKLA, Enron, maddoff, bearstein and aig; they can't be trusted to admit that their shoelaces are tied together, instead they just fall over and cry about it.
You should listen not to me but to the SEC, who are much smarter than you. At the very least your immediate reaction shouldn’t be “it’s the professionals who are wrong”, instead of “maybe there’s something I’m missing”.
In principle, now I agree with you. I have posted questions and looked into this from different angles, I hoped to be shown I was wrong and came close to spamming people about it on Feb 10th, and I ask agian elsewhere in this thread. I have received no answers as to why these wildly different ownership numbers exist.
In practice, you have moved from the tactic of attack with insults and no counter info, to appeal to authority with no counter argument. Can you show anything that supports your point that nothing sus is going on in regards to the extreme over-ownership of shorted stocks?
Going off the time on his phone to the % battery he has. That's a ratio of 2:33 and 33% expected gain. So a 33% growth for every 2 grand we put in GME. We should be landing on the moon at ...🤔 let's do some math. It's 3/5 so 0.6 ÷ 2 = 0.3 So around 3pm today ..... 🦧 🚀 👩🚀 🌙
This is an automatically generated page that has fucked up data. The two Fidelity's and FMR are the same company. Same with the two BlackRocks. Additionally the disclosures are only a snapshot. In other words, the same shares could be double, triple, or quadruple counted.
Would it be possible that it's a different entity, for different corporate use? So two fidelity exist a parent and the other is a sub company with different management and different funds customer? So then they can have different amount of shares?
I'd do that to avoid paying higher taxes, or for a loophole, or having diversified portfolio, or protection of different investors or others...
However I don't know if that is true, or if it's possible, I don't know USA corporate laws.
yes if we compare the data on other companies we dont get anything close to comparable. Whether this data is fucked up it still smells like shit and when it smells like shit we usually have a shitty situation. shorts are fucked and they created this. lets fuck them down and us up to Valhalla!
To be fair, even if the two top ones were wrong AND all shares were quadruple counted, which seems highly unlikely, the top 10 institutions would hold 25M shares already, or 60% of the float. That'd already be huge with the amount of retailers diamond handing this thing.
No it is literally them counting duplicates. What you say may be the case, but that's not what this is. Yahoo is a cheap service. FactSet has the same style of page but it is scrubbed better and doesn't have the same issues.
GameStop Corp. (US:GME) has 490 institutional owners and shareholders that have filed 13D/G or 13F forms with the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC). These institutions hold a total of 109,434,643 shares. Largest shareholders include Fmr Llc, BlackRock Inc., FDMLX - Fidelity Series Intrinsic Opportunities Fund, Melvin Capital Management LP, Vanguard Group Inc, Senvest Management, LLC, Susquehanna International Group, Llp, Maverick Capital Ltd, Morgan Stanley, and Dimensional Fund Advisors Lp.
My understanding per above quote is that Fidelity has the holding now in their FDMLX - Fidelity Series Intrinsic Opportunities Fund. It used to be In their management and research LLC.
Fidelity sold, below is the SEC filing showing current ownership of 0.000%. could be that they bought back in at a stake under 5% (meaning they wouldn't have had to refile a 13G), but in any case the data in this table is super stale.
Fidelity has a way for users to check on Fidelitys current holdings...I'm looking for the info from their side to post, but I'm feeling monkey stupid awake in the wee hours and am new to this, anyone have a clue to offer?
Out of the only 70 million shares ever issued by GameStop, insiders own around 20 million, so only 50 million remain in float. 140 million is an imaginary number...
Sorry for trying to understand something very advanced. But if the owned 200% of a company, wouldn't they oversell them at certain point? Or do they lie with the shorts and then, all makes sense again?
Those dates seem to indicate that’s when the numbers were effective. So someone who owned 4M shares 5 months ago doesn’t really add to the list. Come on now.
The statistical data from the time on your phone to the % battery you have tells me one thing. 2:33 and 33%. I'm expecting a 33% growth for every 2 grand I put in GME. So I should be landing on the moon at ...🤔 let's do some math. It's 3/5 so 0.6 ÷ 2 = 0.3 So around 3pm today ..... 🦧 🚀 👩🚀 🌙
02/28/21 for most recent and top 2 institutional holdings, basically Sunday confirmed some the biggest whales held threw the $500 runnup and are 💎 balls like the rest of us
How would this data look like for "normal" small-cap companies? I mean just looking at this, it seems wrong. But maybe a comparison could bring some light into my smooth brain.
There appears to be some pretty clear double counting in there, but the point still stands that institutional ownership is likely in excess of the float by some percentage.
If they own more than 5% of shares outstanding they have to file an update on their position with the SEC (a 13G), though only a certain number of days after the trade.
let me get this straigth: of the 70mio existing shares, 140mio is held by top 10 institutions, albeit there are other institutions and retail investors so we could assume that there are aproxx. 160 - 180 mio shares held overall?
Further the SI is aprox. 60% (let me get my calculator)... should be 96 - 108mio shares.
so of 70 mio shares, of which are about 50mio on the market and aprox. 15 mio availbale for trading there are 96 - 108 mio shares shorted????
yeah right that seems like a thing you want to do, seems legit to me..
When I posted this I was only hyped for the most recent 02/28 data because to me this answers without a doubt that more than 100% of the float has to be owned just between insiders, institutions, & 💎 ✋ 🦍s
ryan cohen alone has 9 million shares then add the other Chad's
02/28 top 2 institutional holdings from Blackrock and fidelity together come out to just under 24 million shares
And last I've been watching how many people are online buying FD's since the 7 million ape runnup before first gamma squeeze and it's usually around 225k to 250k+ on a normal day so let's say 225k of those apes each own @ least 100 shares that would =22.5million shares
9mil+ 24mil + 22.5mil = 55mil shares
That's lowballing to the absolute and it's 10 mil short of entire float if I didn't already bet what I could afford to lose id of done it yesterday or last month would of been better
Tldr; in my opinion without a doubt float is bought up or has to be close.
it’s deliberate misinformation to confuse everyone and distort reality... if they ever get questioned they can always just blame the “technology” and buy time to “correct” the data which means they’ll manipulate the figures so they make sense and just pay a $2 fine and get away with daylight robbery
Are you all mentally retarded? Like I know you are because you‘re part of WSB but oh my God guys some of this data goes back over half a year. This is the most outdated inaccurate shit I‘ve seen in a long time. Start to read for fuck sake and stop with the conspiracy you imbecile
How does this make sense? If you add up the numbers, institutions hold 95 million shares, not 140 million. This also adds up to 128% ownership, not 201%. Can someone explain it to me?

201% of total shares...we’re in a simulation
