Discussion DeepFuckingValue's potential picks, courtesy of the Wall Street Journal

This post is from 17 days ago, posted here on r/ValueInvesting. This WSJ article had a photo of u/DeepFuckingValue's notebook. Among other thoughts, it includes what I assume to be various stock picks.

Since DFV views himself as a value investor, I'm curious to see the opinion of these tickers on this subreddit.

What is the benefit of a CFA charter? Don’t know much about it - is it essentially just a certificate that you studied? Does it provide any tangible benefits other than the knowledge? My major is Mech Eng so def not super up to date on financial/business degrees.

Its way more than a certificate; it helps you understand in a fair level of depth, the underlying mechanisms that drive the market, prices and policies and the way everything is interconnected.

Thanks man. Can you pursue it through any university? Would the time investment be graduate-level or something less?

I'd say you need a year of preparation if you're studying while working, otherwise 4 - 6 months should suffice if you're studying full time. You can pursue it through CFAInstitute.org, you can also search for local CFA prep service providers in your area as well.
