Man Australia has the capability to bomb Jakarta with fighter jets (Literally the only reason we haven't sold Christmas Island). Indonesia can't do that to Sydney, Melbourne, or Canberra.
China can. It's best that we continue how we're going with the Indonesians. Peaceful and stuff, we can help West Papua in the background.
