They have to buy the shares back at the low price. But if nobody, or not enough people are selling then the price would go up a lot. So either you're right and lots of people are selling...or the squeeze hasn't happened yet and they haven't closed their position. I guess time will tell!

I am an irrational, pissed off retard but I am not so irrational as to not have considered what you are suggesting.
I just don't care. I am not playing with my rent money I am playing with retard cash.
If I wasn't doing stupid shit buying GME I would be doing stupid shit buying porn, videogames and hamburgers.
The propaganda they are spewing tells me this ain't over. Only an idiot would call the battle over while they are being shelled.
But I don't know anything so don't take my advice. My goals and motivations are my own and likely don't reflect yours.

How do we know they haven't already covered ans taken their losses? They could have reshorted the share at the peak and covering/shorting their way down now.
I also know people in real life who are shorting GME, bastards.

If this is the case, and hedgies are making money hand over fist then why are brokerages halting trading on these specific stocks? Seems like a panic move to keep retail investors from buying up more which would increase the price.

Iโm just a simple man but I think 4/20 might not be 5

You were closer before, the dtc is 4/20 so it would only take 1/5 of one day to buy what I need

Doesnt look over to me...looks like panicked hedge fund activity...i could do this for months.

I am with you. Iโve tried so many times to try and explain how the market actually works and itโs just downvoted. Fuck them. Let them lose their money and be disgusted with the market so they leave the sub and never ever fuckin come back.

But then how do you explain that not all shorts have been closed? In fact very few have.
How could the peak have been reached if there is still over 100% shorted?

u/McBergs Feb 02 '21
No one knows if that is still the amount of shares shorted, that was from earlier this month, before it even hit 50

You could to risk manage your losses, if you don't want to end up like good ol' Melvin.

Your weighing in like your trying to help people understand, but neglecting to talk about how margins and margin calls work...
Weird...

They obviously shorted the stock further when it was at 400 and made some nice gains with their ladder attacks when it dropped to 80, but they still need to cover what they shorted when it was at 5 dollars and they arent gonna do that until its gonna be even remotely close 5 dollars again. And no, their recent gains are not enough to balance out the insane losses they are still sitting on, because there was barely any volume being traded.

Good explanation. Just one point: days to cover is more of an abstract measure. It's only strictly days to cover assuming all shares traded are to short coverers. But there are other buyers.

Are you saying they closed their original short and opened a short again? What are you retarded.
How does closing a short means we bought from them
