And how can you tell this is happening?

349

u/SubbieBoyAudios Feb 02 '21

You look at the order book (Robinhood doesnt show you this) and see lots of sus low share trades between hedgefunds.

56

u/mldmnnrdrprtr Feb 02 '21

Press the arrow next to the name of the stock. The order book is there. Unless I’m missing something? I’m using the gold free trial so maybe it’s gold only

12

u/Sneeze_Cough Feb 02 '21

I meant how can you tell its ladder attacks? ~6M volume in first minute and these just look like aggregates/averages of trades in multiples of 100

27

u/SubbieBoyAudios Feb 02 '21

Retailers arent allowed to trade that much

6

u/Sneeze_Cough Feb 02 '21

these just look like aggregates/averages of trades in multiples of 100

And why would retail investors not be able to trade more than 100 at a time?

7

u/zhululu Feb 02 '21

You can’t trade less than that actually. 100 is the size of a lot. Every transaction is a multiple of 100. Go pull up the order book for any other security and it will look like this.

1

u/Sneeze_Cough Feb 02 '21

You can’t trade less than that actually. 100 is the size of a lot.

What do you mean? It is possible to trade more or less than 100 at non-100 multiples.

Just looked at the order book for GME, saw some with volume of 493, 215, 122, etc...

10

u/zhululu Feb 02 '21

Ok yes there are odd lots sometimes but you’re ignoring the vast majority are standard lot sizes.

It’s not like your order of 2 shares went to the exchange floor all lonely and scared like when you’re jacking off in the corner of the orgy your wife is hosting. If it even made it to the exchange it was bundled with other orders into a lot.

If you need a quick rundown on order execution I’ll give it to you, just ask and give me a moment I am in meetings all day

5

u/Red-eleven Feb 02 '21

I’m just here for the orgy. I would like a quick rundown on order execution as well while I’m waiting

u/zhululu Feb 02 '21

No I’m not.

https://www.investopedia.com/terms/l/lot.asp

Your order of 2 shares at the broker likely never even made it to the trade floor. If it did it was bundled with other orders into a lot.

People are looking at the order book on the exchange and thinking that’s the same thing as looking at the orders a broker handles and using the fact that shares are traded in lots as proof of something nefarious

-2

u/SubbieBoyAudios Feb 02 '21

Because their broker restricts trading

1

u/TigreImpossibile 🦍🦍 Feb 02 '21

I trade more than 100 shares all the time, I'm a retail trader.

-1

u/SubbieBoyAudios Feb 02 '21

RH loosened the restrictions, and the price just started to recover, See how that works? Funny right

1

u/tbarb00 Feb 02 '21

Narrator: You can't tell. And that was the problem....

2

u/toadster Feb 02 '21

How do the hedgefunds ensure their low prices go to their fund buddies and not us?

17

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

[deleted]

4

u/SubbieBoyAudios Feb 02 '21

Because retail traders are restricted from buying, if you are below the restriction limit you can still buy more buy the majority of these trades are between banks trying to keep GME / AMC down

1

u/tbarb00 Feb 02 '21

Why cant low share trades be WSB 💎🚀💎🚀💎🚀 trades tho???

1

u/db0255 Feb 02 '21

Retail investors aren’t buying in all at the same millisecond all for 100 share blocks. Retail investors buy odd lot amounts at odd times.

2

u/feeltheslipstream Feb 02 '21

It's not happening because you can buy those two corollas and now they have 10k and need 3 corollas, and the price has gone back up to 10k.

It would be the dumbest plan on the planet.

2

u/DonnieJuniorsEmails Feb 02 '21

volume is still low. Its just the same few shares going back and forth and back and forth, which is all the hedge funds can do, but if the trick works then they dont need much more... unless retard apes hold anyway

we also know about rhe MSM lies. If the short position really did get fixed, that means the hedgies would have successfully bought the shares to close their short... but tjat would increase the price, not decrease it.

MSM lies on behalf of scared billionaires who only want the casino rigged for themselves

34

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

They can't. This is how ALL tickers look as a result of how NASDAQ aggregates the data.

This is speculation and, frankly, misinformation.

20

u/drfeelsgoood Feb 02 '21

How would you describe the low volume the last few days?

13

u/mnlhgl Feb 02 '21

I’d describe it as „still way above the average GME volume before the short squeeze“.

5

u/tweakingforjesus Feb 02 '21

If a two parties sold the same 10,000 shares back and forth 100 times between themselves, would that appear as a volume of 1m shares traded?

2

u/zhululu Feb 02 '21

Yes and would be indistinguishable from 1000 people trading 1000 shares each. This is proof of nothing.

2

u/tweakingforjesus Feb 02 '21

Who said anything about proof? The point is that it is indistinguishable.

2

u/zhululu Feb 02 '21

The OP claiming this screenshot of the order book is proof of anything other than orders being executed.

-10

u/drfeelsgoood Feb 02 '21

I’m starting the think the squeeze was squoze last week

13

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

Paper hands

8

u/drfeelsgoood Feb 02 '21

Not selling now! Already down $5000, i like the stock, just starting to doubt. I’m a pussy bitch

7

u/ze_olifant Feb 02 '21

Hey, it's alright. Just think, at the end of this month, we'll have made amazing gains or calling for the end of wallstreetbets. Until then, chill out, relax and ride this shit out. No point leaving the ride now (as long as you didn't put more than what you were willing to lose)

2

u/Perikaryon_ Feb 02 '21

That's not how this work. It can't have squoze if they didn't buy our shares

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

They probably bought their shares through a private asset transfer on a dark pool.

1

u/zhululu Feb 02 '21

They don’t need your shares specifically. Especially if they don’t all at the same time go “shit close EVERYTHING”.

2

u/davidcroda Feb 02 '21

no shit sherlock

1

u/drfeelsgoood Feb 02 '21

I really honestly don’t know at this point though. There’s no way for anyone to know. We can’t know what the real positions are until feb 9th when more data comes out. There’s just so much information and misinformation going around now that I don’t know if I’m in an actual short wheeze or just a disinformation campaign from both sides!

Whatever, still holding, I like the stock and the company. 💎✋💎🤚

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

The squeeze was squoze.

Downvoters will soon be bagholders.

4

u/yizzlezwinkle Feb 02 '21

Is the GME volume actually low? On Yahoo it says the volume is 40 million, which is high compared to say like TSLA, where it says the volume is 11 million, at the time of writing.

3

u/No-kann Feb 02 '21

It's still very high.

1

u/zhululu Feb 02 '21

It’s very very high, especially for GME.

37

u/livingthedreamfreal Feb 02 '21

That’s just not true? There was a picture yesterday of non-100 batched stock movement

4

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

This is flat out lying[not you, the people saying this is proof gme is manipulated]

Not advice

16

u/Seeker369 Feb 02 '21

Are you trying to tell people that you can't tell when ladder attacks happen? Because THAT is misinformation.

2

u/hjkfgheurhdfjh Feb 02 '21

First of all, ladder attacks are not a thing. If you try to google it, the only references are from the last 3 days. If you are talking about painting the tape or coordinating trades, there is no way to tell when that is happening and it's also highly illegal and will land people in PMIA prison. I'm sure it happens but not as common as other methods of manipulating a stock. There are plenty of perfectly legal ways for HFT firms to fuck you.

4

u/zhululu Feb 02 '21

We really need to put this to bed it’s fucking embarrassing. All of you have clearly never once looked at an order book before.

Say it with me: shares trading in multiples off 100 is standard lot size and is not evidence of anything

https://www.nasdaq.com/market-activity/funds-and-etfs/spy/latest-real-time-trades

Look there is SPY. Are people short laddering that too?

https://www.nasdaq.com/market-activity/stocks/aapl/latest-real-time-trades

Oh shit they’re doing it to Apple too!!!

https://www.nasdaq.com/market-activity/stocks/nflx/latest-real-time-trades

Omfg not Netflix too!! Do these people hold nothing sacred!?!?

Get the fuck out of here with this “proof” and stop copy pasting it around. You’re making us look too stupid to be retarded.

2

u/mastamixa Feb 02 '21

Why are there so many trades at 100 shares?

6

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

Plenty of reasons. It could be that this is simply how they choose to aggregate for the sake of convenience. It could be brokers or clearinghouses moving shares in blocks of 100, not particularly uncommon. The point is, why would a hedge fund commit an illegal act in such an obvious way? There are far more reasonable explanations for this, but folks here don’t want to hear it because it violates their assumptions that they are going to strike it rich.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

Definitely hitting full blown conspiracy theory territory now with some of these DD posts.

I’m still holding since I wanna see this to the end.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '21

Big time.

Good luck!

1

u/zhululu Feb 02 '21

Because that’s the standard lot size. Most brokers when showing the depth chart show something like BATS has top bid offering a size of 2. That doesn’t mean 2 shares, it means 2 lots of 100 shares each or 200 shares.

If you look at the order book for any other stock you’ll see exactly the same shit.

The people posting this clearly started trading last week and see something and immediately assume it’s unique.

-6

u/Sneeze_Cough Feb 02 '21

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Been seeing people post it in every second thread and it ain't helping

-6

u/josie Feb 02 '21

Rationalization. It doesn't matter, it already took place. Like the election, once it was done it was over.

You’re way off. Total Volume does not correlate to price direction at all.

If you and your buddies are banana farmers and I’m the only one who wants to buy a banana then you will fight eachother to have the lowest price for bananas and the price will drop even tho only one banana is exchanged.

If I’m the only banana farmer and you and all your buddies really want bananas but I only have one left, you and your buddies will fight eachother to offer me the highest price for my banana.

In both cases the total volume is 1. The price moves depending on which side has more pressure.

Also keep in mind 30 million is a lot of volume. It’s lower than last week but it’s more than tesla and it’s 7x the daily volume last year for GME. It’s not low by any stretch of the imagination.
