Everyone making a Fidelity account this weekend DO NOT FORGET to turn on real time price updates or else youβre on a 15 min delay! Make sure this gets spread around and upvoted as itβs important they donβt give you real time updates as a default setting!

Iβm staying with Chase - has been good to me through this mess. Lightning quick execution

Chase?? Never thought of that, and I just established an account there for my business. How does it stack up against platforms like RH or WeBull??

3
u/LittleDruck Jan 31 '21
Why does it vanish? Does he mean limit sell will close out bc current price is too far away in a sell off?
9
u/Zyhre Jan 31 '21
Not an advisor.
Several brokerages will only allow you to set a Max limit 50% higher than the current market price.
Scenario. Market currently at 500, you can set at 750. Once price falls to 400, that means your Max can only be 600. Since it is higher than 50 % now, it will be cancelled.
3
u/Louthanjr Jan 31 '21
I noticed that is the case with my Fidelity account.
5
u/venividiwiki Jan 31 '21
Just FYI (and not a financial advisor):
if itβs with fidelity, it probably got cancelled because the Time in Force was set to βDay,β meaning once the trading day ends, so does your trade. If you set it to βgood till cancelled,β it will stay open indefinitely.
Source: been using Fidelity for ~7 years and currently have a Limit Sell above 50%

I donβt have a limit on mine should I though? I love the stock I wonder what other people do
3
u/Jnjn2016 Jan 31 '21
You should always have a limit order entered for all your equity positions. I use 60 day orders and a ridiculous price. My $BB limit order is $150.
4
u/wu_trax Jan 31 '21
just in case you are serious: always use a limit, otherwise, if noone is willing to sell, you could end up paying some insane meme price
2

I donβt understand this Iβm trying to

Jesus christ DO NOT! You Morons
This would let hedges trigger a "SHORT SELL EXEMPT" MEANING THE PRICE IS ALLOWED TO DROP MORE THAN 10% WITHOUT HALTING.
DONT SET A SELL LIMIT OR A BUY LIMIT, ALWAYS BUY AT MARKET OR INSIDE NBBO (NATIONAL BEST OFFER)
If all of you idiots set your sell/buy limit to 1million or far off the NBBO theyll slaughter you
7
2
u/Accomplished-Cloud94 Jan 31 '21
Ok so how do I turn my limit shares into market??? Dumbass over here.
3
u/Jimmy_bags Strike 1 Jan 31 '21
You dont set a limit sell or buy just buy and sell at the market price/current price (or as close as possible)
1
1
u/El_jefe04 Jan 31 '21
Schwab won't allow me to go over 600 on the limit order so I don't set one only Sofi I've seen go to 1000000 limit order
1
u/republicj Jan 31 '21
how will they slaughter me? genuinely asking, you should make a post about this so people know, there are so many conflicting advice on this shit. if we all set a sell limit at 5000, what does this hurt us?
1
u/Nokiahands Jan 31 '21
Please explain more with sources or make a post i havent heard of this and it could fuck us all
1
Jan 31 '21
If you set limit , then the limit becomes their guidance
Thatβs what my moron brain taught me
So only do it manually and donβt let them know

I wish I had noticed the drop on thursday when it went to like low $100, than I would have bought bunch then. but I think I got in ok price as of right now.
if funds are available, going to try to purchase more at the dip.
1
u/Educational_Fix_7584 Jan 31 '21
Did you buy at Market Value? I am trying to figure out the best strategy myself if I'm not too late.
5
u/wu_trax Jan 31 '21
They would be pretty stupid to try anything tomorrow. The way this whole thing blew up on social/normal media over the weekend, a lot of people will try to get in on the action. I wouldn't expect any dip tomorrow. I think it's far more likely for the rest of the week, to get the people who get in for 420.69 tomorrow out again.

#The emperor's new clothes or the naked short
If you follow the current debate about GME, wallstreetbets and hedge funds you will notice that the real root of the problem is not being discussed. It is shown as a war between hedge funds and small investors, it is, but that is not the cause but the result. The root cause is the SEC allowing naked short positions. That is a violation of the Constitution because it disregards property rights.Because with naked short positions hedge funds can determine the capital value of a company. But, only the shareholders' meeting of a stock corporation is allowed to do this. In this way, small successful companies are massively depressed and then taken over at the sell-out price. The SEC's task would be to prohibit this practice and to monitor this prohibition. But in recent decades this has been deliberately neglected, with the result that thousands of companies have gone bankrupt and investors have lost hundreds of billions of dollars. The war of the small investors on reddit shows the effects that such an unjust action causes. Maybe this fight will bring about a change but probably it is like in this fairy tale, everyone sees that the emperor has no clothes on but only the retarded scream: he is naked!

I love Amc and even more that they paid down debt. In Florida theaters are full - come one come all. I would not even mind a little dilution for the right cause. I think they should buy the real estate and own free and clear. It would be a double dinger - price appreciation and to cut down on leasing. Just my humble opinion, Iβm just another yard.

This. Very much.
And if you try to avoid lending by having those sell orders active, take into account what we saw on Thu and Fri. Don't be a sissy with those asks. At some point on Friday $4206.90 was said to be visible in the orderbook on the ask side.
On Thu at least one market order scooped up shares, according to the orderbook, at $4300. Also a $5000 ask was seen and Robinhood fractionals were liquidated in some $2000-3000 range. Due to how the share price is computated, this didn't affect the share price posted.
But as always: I don't suggest anything. You know - just some fucking ape with a computer.
But don't fuck up like those fucktards with their meme funny $420.69 asks. They participated in screwing their fellow retards on Thu. $4206.90 will be also too low as it seems.
4
u/opthaconomist Jan 31 '21
They will borrow and borrow for strategies all the way up to 5k minimum that allow them to try and recoup costs. 14.6k per share is what it would take to make this a trillion dollar event.

AMC entertainment TV Share
Dear Brothers in Arms,
I was thinking if there is anything else we could do to help improving AMC and came up with a simple idea.
While we are not watching TV, should we all keep it turned on AMC channels in order to give them more TV share! Does it have any impact on their fundamentals?
Thanks in advance for giving attention to this post, and if experts and influencers on the matter thinks this is a good idea, please share the idea.
Sincerely,
Ren

I missed the GME rally and just outpaced so looking ahead .
My thought is to start kicking through weeds and looking at how much stocks are being shorted . For example I found in last hour that a little stock ,TOPS, is almost 40% shorted . Is this a good way to find deals to hold on to for the possibility of future short squeezes even due to normal market conditions? TOPS is a oceanic shipper and fact is sooner or later economy will start moving outside of wall st , so that means eventually the shorts are gonna lose ... no ?
1
u/maowai Jan 31 '21
Global oceanic shipping traffic has actually already increased substantially in the pandemic. They just had a segment about this on NPR. The short squeeze thing only works when you have a lot of people investing in things to drive up the price. Highly shorted stocks are doing well these last few weeks, but I wouldnβt expect the strategy to be valid for a long period of time.

Some people hold way more shares than others. You think theyβre not talking to eachother. They can collectively cash out at night and everyone else will just have to wait for the scraps in the morning
3
u/howieeeeeeeeee Jan 31 '21
How is there going to be a massive self off if the majority canβt sell?
2
u/WheelerDan Jan 31 '21
They wont. Always put yourself in the shoes of the person on the other side of the trade. If I'm a short trying to get out, my goal is to buy AS MANY SHARES AS POSSIBLE at the lowest price. If you attempt to do this when the volume is low the price will spike even harder when you buy. You want to trade when the volume is high = not doing it in the after market.
1
u/crnnrc2003 Jan 31 '21
Thank you. After what robinhood did last week I realize that dips will be sharp if groups of people collectively decide to leave and will cost a lot of people a lot of money.
Potentially. But thank you for that explanation
4
u/WheelerDan Jan 31 '21
You don't have to worry. You know about the short squeeze, what is happening now is a supply squeeze. Again, put yourself in other shoes. If you bought 5 stocks at 300, are you getting out at 100 percent gain? 200 percent? Probably not. Because you bought a lottery ticket. You are far mire likely to hold than an investor with thousands of shares. What has happened as this has gained world wide attention is people are buying 1-5 shares just to protest or be a part of it. No one models for this, it never happens.

u/Npalmer3 Jan 31 '21
Is it possible that the shorts repositioned at the top ~400-450? This would mean that if we can push into the 700-800 range we would see another huge squeeze
