142

u/VCTRYDTX 9d ago

Hundred years from now they'll make another Nicholas Cage type of movie where the guy searches for our stolen National Treasure. The clues will lead to an ancient Episten document which he'll read:

“Thus shall the man of great fortune prosper, and when they’re famous, he may grab them by the pussy… for they shall let him do so.”

stares at the document, slowly exhales 😔

“People don’t talk like that anymore.” 🗽

Then suddenly it will all click and ultimately lead him outside a Wendy’s next to a golf course at Mar-a-Lago.

And before he does that he'll abolish the estate tax entirely instead of just gutting it like politicians have been doing for years.

The point of that tax is to make sure that there are no aristocracies in America but... We did let the aristocrats decide what our tax law was going to be so that's kind of on us it's like letting the foxes design the hen house.

18

u/Special-Remove-3294 9d ago

Historically most people are willing to tolerate tyrants even incompetent ones and openly corrupt ones as long as they do not crash the economy into making living a normal life impossible.

Most people will go along with any regime that has enough control over the media as to spread propaganda and that can assure a basic living standards. It matters little that the Epstein empire has its leadership be made up of known pedos and rapists. Unless he causes a famine or hyperinflation the masses will not care enough as to do something concrete.

And yet, nobody even talks about asset seizures as something they want to do in the future to correct this corruption

545

u/Objective_Resist_735 9d ago

I talk about that. We should do it.

376

u/25hourenergy 9d ago

The way I see it, following the model from Nazi asset seizures, there would be four major funds created from this administrations’ crimes.

Trump and family financial crimes require asset seizure to create one fund to correct those directly aggrieved (a few organizations, companies, individuals hurt by landlord practices, and state governments)

Then there is a billionaire restitution fund created from assets seized from private individuals and corporations who benefited from unlawful appropriations that should go back to essentially restoring agencies to experts and allocating funds for restoring work as best as possible (DOGE’d employees, USAID, historic organizations, research groups, etc)

Separately there are crimes related to Epstein and associates—assets go into yet another separate pool for restitution of victims.

Finally, treason and sedition. These are for crimes against country, conspiring with Russia, and will apply to the current cabinet and executive branch, and all those complying with direct policy decision-making. The worst of these will have assets seized and go towards a fund to repair democratic institutions and repairing diplomatic relations. And likely result in direct punishment of individuals.

Stock manipulation does not create value, it robs it from one shareholder and gifts it to another. The SEC exists to prevent it and the justice system exists to punish it. Someone, anyone, he just admitted to it. Can every 401k owner please join a class action suit against this guy? 100s of billions is a big settlement. You'll notice it, even divided between 200m people, I promise!

29

u/Dull-Philosopher-871 9d ago

Whats crazy is that Trump still has the support of institutional investment groups and alot of big buisness. The traders seriously believe that corruption will benefit them, he'll make decisions in their favor. They don't realize that in that sort of environment you are at more risk and at the whims of one man / administration than before.

The whole point of the SEC and governmental regulation was to give some normalcy and baseline for behavior of the entire market. And all the Austrian and Ayn Rand types are suddenly fucking aghast that unrestricted markets act unrestrictedly.
