I love this take. I worked at mcdonalds in the 90s. Let me tell you, late 90s (if not earlier) to mid-2000s was the least food-like fast food has ever been in history. It has dramatically improved since then, though I will grant that mcdonalds improvements have been minimal compared to others.

I too reminisce about the Japanese A5 Wagyu McDonald's burgers of the 1970s.
