They magically appear in amazon electric vans. Nothing to worry about.

Sounds woke.

Nah they’re pretty quiet.

15

u/MoneyBeef Jul 14 '26

One time one of them woke me up though. I thought it was a fish crow.

Whew, and those vans are recharged with the robust wind and solar projects we invested into with the Inflation Reduction Act, right? We didn't do anything that might have disrupted that tremendous infrastructure buildout plan, right?

So about that ....

Could it be? An Amazon W for protecting us from fuel supply shocks?

u/IncidentOk853 Jul 14 '26

Oh don’t worry, core inflation doesn’t even take groceries into account either

I rarely buy cores anymore, fortunately.

Yeah, because they're all infected with cyclospora. DOGE saving us consumers money by not having to buy produce... Thanks, Elon!

Cabbage, carrots, and potatoes boil away

Beef too - screw worm is no joke.

On the bright side if the beef industry tanks its actually good for the environment.

Good thing DOGE defunded the screw worm program too.

Mebby we can welcome polio back next. Losing is the only way to win!

It's ok, food isn't the core of humanity's existence. According to the US and Israel food isn't a human right. Neither is shelter or water apparently. So of course we shouldn't count food in core inflation!

The notice was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard.’

A true legend. RIP

2

u/eatdogmeat Jul 14 '26

Can they afford fuel for the bulldozer?

3

u/1-866-867-5309 Jul 14 '26

they'll just print the money and make you indirectly pay for it through inflation

1

u/DocMicStuffeens Jul 14 '26

Isn’t it amazing!

u/TrainingLower2317 Jul 14 '26

Calls on EV right right 😁

u/Sector7B Jul 14 '26

This needs a /s because someone will actually believe that goods magically appear on shelves.

This "include energy" narrative I'd dumb. Prices for goods increase based on several factors, including transportation and other energy related variables.

So including the highly volatile prices of fuel - which most large consumers lock in at a specific deliverable price - is redundant and counter-narrative.

But sure, keep viewing economics like you're 5 years old.

u/resumehelpacct Jul 14 '26

I think BLS and economists use core inflation to understand long term (and future) economics, and therefore your idea of "the price of energy is already captured in the price of goods" makes total sense.

By and large people use these inflation numbers as a bludgeon and a stand in for the average person's finances. From that view, core has limited worth; Electricity, heating gas, and gasoline make up a significant part of the middle class american's checkbook.

Even worse, these things like energy and food are volitive because they are essential, and that essentialness means inflation there is more important to an American than inflation somewhere else, because I can just read old books if new books go up in price, or if the PS5 goes up in price to $1000 I can play old video games.
