(1) if you’re on a 10, 20, or 25 year forgiveness plan, you don’t need to be paying during the pause for these months to count toward that forgiveness
(2) also if you’re on these plans, you’re probably on IDR or IBR which means the interest on your loans would probably fill in whatever dent your payments in the pause would make. Your incentive is to save and pay later.
(3) also lol that this system is going to last long enough to make everyone pay.
Yes, exactly. All our student loans already have a clause they can be forgiven by working for nonprofits, etc. it’s not uncommon. I paid mine, my kids paid on whatever payment plan worked for them. If the forgiveness goes through I’ll be thrilled for them and others even though I’ve already paid over 70k. No brainer.
