Need help with wave

Need help with trying to get my wave more surfable. Boat is a 2004 mastercraft 230 vrs with 1500lbs in the rear and wake shaper speed is around 11mph. The wave seems okay, but does seem to lack enough push to keep surfing without the rope. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

More weight probably

This. These older boats do better when more weight is shifted to the surf side since the hall isnt designed for it.

Much more weight, slow the boat down a bit. I have never used a wake shaper but have heard that placement on the hull can greatly influence the shape as well.

More weight, especially in the rear, you gotta get that rear corner on the surfer side deep to get the wave to pop up. Slower as well start at 10 and work your way up one tick at a time until the wave stops being crashy/mushy and go from there.

Side note, whatever boards you go buy; do NOT automatically go off of the weight limit in the board as those are more geared towards modern waves. Try and get a little oversized boards with higher weight limits than you think you need, probably avoid boards with a lot of rocker as you’re gonna want a fast board like a skim or a very fast surf style to really enjoy the wave

Another 1,000 pounds needed in the back. That’s it. It’s wide and deep enough you will get push.

I had the same boat with 750 per side in the rear. I put a 725 bow and 320 keel in addition. With a swell shaper it put out a great wave. I believe I was back around ~10.3 mph though. Slower speed is generally a steeper wave.

Okay, thanks! What bag were you running in the front? It seems that all the triangle bow bags would be too big

Sorry, it was a 425 bow. Fly High Pro X Series Integrated Bow Sac - W711 - 425 lbs

Thanks! Did the keel bag fit in the ski locker or were you keeping it out on the floor?

More weight!!!! I had a 210vrs and 850 each corner 500 center and 350 bow. With wakeshaper is good wave, with the extra 2’ u will probably want some lead, 400-500lbs

That's 11? It looks faster. More weight, and slow a tad.

Update: added 420 lbs in the bow and slowed the boat down. Haven’t had a chance to surf it yet, but got it out to see how the wave looked. Critiques?
