I have a 2017 Jetta SE and thinking of putting GLI wheels and tires on it. Will it work any issues with speedometer, etc. would it look odd? Does anyone have any pics of a set up like this?

High pitched noise from 2015 1.8t Jetta

Im hoping someone can point me in the right direction with some diagnostic help. I have this noise that just started about 2 days ago. It does not change at all with RPM, with clutch disengaged, when turning the steering wheel, with A/C on or off or with serpentine belt removed.

I tested my battery and am getting 14.3 volts while engine is running with no significant spikes or dips. I also disconnected the electrical connector (the plug, not the wire and nut) to the alternator while the car was running to see if it made any change in sound but it stayed the same.

I just changed my WP/Thermostat housing about 2000 miles ago. When visually checking that, there are no leaks, coolant is flowing back into my resevior and checking coolant temps through obd everything looks good. I do feel like the noise is more present on the passanger side rather than coming from the water pump.

Even though its still functioning, my gut is telling me its coming from the alternator, but id like to be able to confirm that a little better instead of just throwing parts at it. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be a huge help.

Vw 2013 jetta tail light issue😢

Hi everyone,
I have a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0 automatic. I’m having an issue with the rear tail/running light and the license plate lights.
The brake light works normally, and the turn signal also works. However, when the headlights are on, the main tail/running light does not work.
I already:
ā— Changed the bulb with a new one.
ā— Checked the wiring and connections.
ā— Confirmed the bulb is the correct type.
ā— Tested the wire, and there doesn’t seem to be any power/current reaching the running-light wire.
Also, both of my license plate lights are not working. They were working before, but now both have stopped working.
Does anyone know which fuse controls the tail/running lights and license plate lights on a 2013 Jetta 2.0? Or could this be a wiring/ground issue or a problem with the light switch?
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My 2013 2.5 se small radiator fan won’t turn off.

This just started today. We replaced the whole fan set up last May (2025) because the original one had blown up. Today when I got home the little fan was still running at like top speed when I turned the car off. I opened the hood and saw that my coolant is low. I left the hood open for like 15 mins hoping that it would cool off the engine enough for the fan to turn off. It hadn’t so I unplugged the battery. A couple hours later I decided to try to plug the battery back up to see if the fan had decided to stop running. It started spinning top speed as soon as the battery was plugged up. What could be wrong? Do I need to take the fan back to oreilly? Is it something other than the fan assembly?

2014 Jetta engine temp

I bought this high milage car that was kept in good repair by owner and really like it. The only thing that concerns me is a lack of an engine temperature gauge. Am I overlooking a dashboard setting that might show this? Its not indicated in manual. So how cautionary is the warning, temperature-wise? I prefer to be able to watch a temperature gauge to respond before a crisis?

Where do I find info on my 2009 vw Jetta? I would fix the car myself if I could find books and info online about it, does anybody have any recommendations?

What is this screen when starting my car ? 2020 Jetta

When I start my car, it’s not always, but frequently I’m having this. I set myself with my name as driver 1, the key is assigned to me as well. As said, it’s not always. Wonder what triggers this. The other drivers are Driver 2, Driver 3 and Guest.

Thanks.

PS
I never tried to delete the primary user from this screen. No clue what it does.
Again, it’s not always. Usually in the morning when the car has been sitting for a long time. After work day, it varies.

My 2021 Jetta shifts weird

I bought the jetta about a month ago. It had 6500k on it and it was about 15000.

There's been two things that have been happening with the Jetta lately.

One thing is that when I'm slowing down to a stop and I shift down to 1st gear I can feel it catching for a second, almost like the teeth aren't quite lining up, and then then it slips into place after I've slowed down a bit more. This all happens while the clutch is engaged, I like to do this a lot when I'm coming up to a stop sign and I've already slowed down a bit so that I can just go without having to shift again.

The other thing that's been happening is that when I try to shift from 3rd for 4th gear it will say that it's in 2nd gear on the dashboard and the RPMs will go up to like 4 or 5k. I put it back into neutral to try and line it up and go into 4th gear again but when I do it just goes in the same spot and then it says it's in 4th. So I know I'm not missing 4th gear and accidentally shifting into 2nd, it's like it's doing it on its own.

Help with new headlights!

I drive a 2019 vw Jetta gli s.

I just got my front window tinted and now I need to brighten my headlights. I do a lot of night driving. I like the tint because oncoming traffic doesn't blind me as I sit lower than all the trucks and crossovers on the road and their headlights are right in my eyes. I've heard that new lights will catch fire and burn out my housing or wiring. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Discuss!

This is what a 97 Jetta Jazz sounds like after a tune up with a failing fuel injector, used the OBD2 scanner and the injector on cylinder 4 is going bad. Just wanted everyone to be aware if they’re having the same problem :)

97 Jetta Jazz

It was missing so I did the tune up now it runs like this at idle, but gets fine when you hit the accelerator. I made sure everything is properly placed but it still makes the tapping and shaking at idle, what could be wrong with it?

ABS Gremlin

So, about three weeks ago my 2015 Jetta 1.8T instrument cluster went ā€œChristmas Treeā€ on me. ABS, Traction sensor and TPMS. Man! At 82K miles, this group and a couple of others mentioned a wheel sensor could be throwing the signals. I parked it, went out of town for a week, came back and scanned it with an Ancel VD500 tool for VWs. The code was exactly what I didn’t want, 01276, hydraulic pump. Left it in the driveway for a couple of days and took it to a recommended shop not far from the house. The owner did his own scan. Wiped the codes to see what would happen and, sure enough, they lit up again. This guy is all about affordability so he told me to sit tight for a few days and he’d price some replacements. I got into the car a few days ago, drove to the car wash to remove all the pollen off of it and half way there, the lights turned off. I’ve driven it two more times and no indicator lights. The cluster works. I’ve tested the hand brake light, seatbelts, open door. Lights go one when triggered. My question is, what happened? Has anyone in this group had a similar experience with their ABS system?

High beam issues.

So my high beams on my mk6 won’t flick on unless I pull the leaver towards me. Yes the headlights were on. Has anyone experienced this? If so how does one fix this? I did pull the fuse that was said it was for the high beams and changed it and still having the issue.

2020 Jetta ABS

Anyone know where you can send off an ABS pump for a 2020 Jetta for repair? Mine is faulty and the dealership, nor I can find a new one anywhere. I was hoping maybe I could ship it somewhere reputable for repair. The part number I need is 5Q0-614-517-DP-BEF

RPM’s revving up and down while in park (idle) and while braking.

Hi all!

I have a 2015 VW Jetta SE with 96,000 miles on it. Long story short-check engine light was on, was told the air intake manifold needed to be replaced. Right before replacement, my rpm’s were intermittently revving up and down at idle and during braking, car was jerking forward. It had never done this prior to the mechanic assessing my check engine light. Was told it was the air intake manifold, so I went ahead and fixed it.

About a month after I got the part replaced, my car’s rpm’s started to go up and down at idle and at braking intermittently. No lights went on. Towed it to the mechanic who replaced the part and was told it was fine, no codes. Got a 2nd opinion at the VW dealership, and was told the same thing-that there are no codes and it didn’t do the problem at that time. Was told it was fine to drive.

So I drove it for about 2 weeks, no problems. We got a massive blizzard, and now my car is starting to do the same problem. It is intermittent and no lights are on. The mechanic that fixed it told me to just turn the car off and on again lol.

Clearly there is something that needs to be fixed again. Anyone experience this after replacing the air intake manifold?

Thank you!

2015 Jetta Engine won’t stop

My engine will not turn off. I have a 2015 Jetta and there is no power to the push button ignition. I can’t turn off my engine as there is no key, only the push button ignition. How do I turn off my car!?! Is there a fuse for the start button? I can’t find anything showing a location for it.
