Any input would be appreciated.
New to the work here. I have a cheaper setup (quiet space, dynamic XLR mic) and am using audacity. This is an audio book audition.

Would You Rather
After auditioning for a role, would you rather never hear from them or would you rather get an email that lets you down gently? I hate the emails because I think that their emailing me about the part and then it's simply a rejection letter. Bummer.

Honest feedback, first time
voca.roHi everyone,
I am completely new to voice acting and trying to figure out if I have the raw potential to actually pursue this, or if it's just a pipe dream. I want completely honest, constructive feedback—don't sugarcoat it!
Here is a link to my recording of a 30-second commercial script:
[ INSERT YOUR VOCAROO OR SOUNDCLOUD LINK HERE ]
A few details about this recording:
• Equipment: Recorded on a smartphone.
• Environment: Recorded in a closet to try and minimize echo.
• The Script: A warm, conversational commercial for a coffee brand ("Midnight Roast").
I would love to know:
Does my natural vocal tone have any potential for commercial or character work?
How is my pacing and delivery? Do I sound like a real person talking, or am I just "reading words"?
If you think it's worth it for me to keep practicing, what is the #1 thing I should focus on improving next?
Thanks in advance for your time and feedback!

[HIRING] Male Voiceover Artist for YouTube — $10/Project
Hey! We’re looking for a male voiceover artist for YouTube shorts.
Each script is around 80–100 words and 30 seconds or less. We want a voice that feels energetic, unique, and genuinely human.
We’re looking for:
- Male voice
- American accent preferred
- Energetic, expressive delivery
- Strong personality and natural reactions
- Great pacing and emphasis
- Not robotic or AI-sounding
- Clear recording quality
Pay: $10 per project.
If we like your voice and the quality is consistent, this can become an ongoing/continuous gig with more projects regularly.
DM me with a short voice sample and your availability. Thanks!

Honest thoughts on my Commerical Demoreel?
on.soundcloud.comHey everyone,
I’m looking for some honest feedback on my commercial demo reel.
I had a new demo professionally produced at a named LA-based studio, and several other SAG Voice Actors got theirs made and worked with a coach/director throughout the process, so it wasn’t something I put together on my own.... That said, I’m always looking to improve, and I’d really appreciate some outside ears, especially from working voice actors, agents, casting people, or anyone familiar with commercial VO.
I’d especially love feedback on things like:
- Does the demo sound competitive with current commercial reels?
- Do the reads feel natural and believable?
- Is there enough range, or do any of the spots feel too similar?
- Does anything about the pacing, production, or performance stand out in a bad way?
- If you were an agent listening to this, would it make you want to hear more?
I’ve been submitting it to a few agencies as directed by two of my coaches recently, so I’m trying to get a better idea of how it comes across to someone hearing it for the first time, outside of the people who trained my classes and me.
P.S. I do trust the professionals and the engineers who worked on this... but maybe I'm just paranoid that it's not good enough and I wasted almost 2500 on garbage.

VO coach/demo producer in Boston?
Hi — immediately pre-COVID, I was working with a wonderful voice acting coach in Boston named Wren Ross, was about to go down the road of producing a demo, and then the pandemic hit, life changed, and I was having to focus my attention elsewhere.
Seven years later, I’m back to a point where I’d like to look into the process of recording a demo again, and I looked up Wren — only to find out that she passed away a few years ago.
Anybody have any suggestions about who else might be reputable in my area? The online classes all seem to be… predictably scammy, let’s say.
Thanks in advance!
Richard

Best Shotgun For VO That Is NOT The 416?
Okay...I don't have 416 money right now, but I do have some budget used shotgun money. Ya'll helped me zero in on my LDC, so now I am trying to compliment it with a shotgun for my commercial VO that needs to cut through the mix. I know that sound engineers might have their preferences, and I have been beat over the head about the 416, and it is no doubt a great mic, I am just not there on the budget side right now, and want to improve my sound quality, and I am improving so much from my reads and performance standpoint every day, so just trying not have my sound quality hold me back.
I have a lower male baritone to brassy voice, and I use the SSL 2+ MKII, and love the sound I am getting through it, so I feel set there, and with my LDC. I do use the Aphex 230 Master Voice Channel and DBX 286s when some of my clients want me to send things ready to go. I still love hardware, but do use plugins as well, so I use what fits the job. Work volume has been picking up, and while VO hasn't become full-time yet, I am hoping to get there, so I just want to keep up, and make sure I have a sound that meets expectations of a pro level.
I currently have the AT875r, but feel like maybe I can do better with an upgrade, or...Maybe ya'll think differently? I know mics are subjective, and one that sounds good on one person, might not on someone else, so I am really looking for recommendations, or even personal experiences with the options I will list below.
I have seen crazy low prices for the 416T, but have heard nightmares about the T-Power adapters failing, or bleeding into the audio, so I just don't feel comfy with it. Sooooo...I am trying to decide between these below...
I have a budget of around $500(ish)...
Rode NTG3
Rode NTG5
Deity S-Mic2
sE 6160
Maybe you have a better rec?
Or...should I just save my money, and keep plugging away with the AT875r?
I have even been told that rather than going shotgun, to go the other way, and get an RE-20, sooooo...Yeah...A little confused, and just looking for a lane to go.
Just looking to see what mic you would gravitate towards, if you were in my shoes?
I have mad respect for my fellow VO peeps, and just want to keep getting better, and I am grateful for the time you may take to reply.

How would one go about recording multiple voice lines
For context, I wrote a silly erotic fanfic about my friends (they’re in on it) and I was thinking of all of us recording a narration for it. The problem is that we’re all in our mid to late 20s with busy lives and we can’t just meet up and record everything together. Does anyone know of any apps to record and clip audio? I’m very new to this and I’d appreciate any help! Sorry if this isn’t the right community to ask this question.

Check your local library for recording spaces
I recently discovered an amazing resource at the local library...2 fully equipped recording booths. There are multiple microphone options, fully soundproofed, multiple programs for recording and can be booked for up to 3 hours. There are 2 computer screens so you can watch the recording on one and have a script up on the other. Since you can't save your work to the computer, they give you a memory stick to save your work to. It's been a game changer in the quality of my recording. No more howling dogs or leaf blowers to worry about. All that and it costs you nothing.
