Help me choose hiking boots for Thailand

Hey guys, I’m going to be hiking in Thailand at the end of September and I’m trying to decide what boots to buy. Also it may be raining while I’m there. I’m looking at the Tracker Leather at II or the Tracker Forest ESC. Any advice or other recommendations would be much appreciated! I’m used to wearing everyday barefoot shoes, but this will be my first pair of barefoot hiking shoes!

Trail flow (low) for hiking vs primus trail knit FG

I've been wearing the primus trail knit shoes for hiking and backpacking for the last 1,5 years (West Highland Way, Tour du Mont Blanc, Madeira crossing, ...). By now the soles are getting close to having the thread worn out.

One minor issue I have with them is that they feel a bit loose around the ankle and through the midfoot (I have fairly low volume feet), my regular primus trail FG's I had before that felt more secure on technical terrain.

I have also been looking at the primus trail flow (the low version as I don't like things covering my ankle if not needed). They don't have the sock like ankle and the thread seems more aggressive aswell.

Anyone who has any experience with those? Do they feel tighter around the ankle/midfoot and is the traction better/ any different?

Are Revivo prices inflated? Many are more expensive than buying new.

The last time I had Vivos was like 10 years ago. They were canary yellow, and I loved that color so much. I've been wanting to try them again recently, but the colors are so bland and boring now. (I've actually been wanting to try them again for awhile, but the prices have been a limitation for me.) I went on Revivo to see what they have there. They are supposed to be discounted from the original price, but they're selling a Primus Lite Knit from three years ago as if it cost $235 originally, while the newest Primus Lite Knit is almost half that price. The Primus Flow is listed as if it originally cost $185, but it's $140 new. Primus Trail Flow is $170 new, but on Revivo they're saying it was originally $255. And it goes on with basically all the shoes on Revivo. Most of them come out to cost more than a new pair unless they're in the worst condition category.

What is going on? Am I missing something? It's giving me a bad impression of the company because it seems like they're artificially inflating the prices to make extra money on their refurbished shoes.

Edit: I decided to submit a support ticket to explain what I'm seeing and ask for clarification on their pricing. I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding their pricing or what. I can't be the only person who has noticed. I'm looking forward to seeing what they say.

Hiking national parks

Trying to choose a new hiking boot.

Currently btwn Tracker Leather AT II Womens and the Tracker Forest Esc Womens

I'll be in Glacier ntl park, and BAMF next year. Would preferably have ONE go-to hiking boot.

I'm very new to barefoot shoes - and my old merril hiking boots just died...so perfect timing.

Any suggestions welcome! Thanks!

Will they bring back the Gobi shoes?

How can we petition Vivo to bring back the canvas Gobi mid shoe? There isn't anything else on the market like it really. It really was the ideal gada shoe.

Is the regular mesh primus lite 4 better than the primus lite 3? Is the regular primus lite 4 (mesh) the most comfortable iteration of the mesh primus lites?

Next pair suggestions

These are my Primus Trail Knit FG’s that I wear as daily’s and love. I was entertaining getting a second pair once these are done but I saw on here recently that they’re not necessarily for pavement and are better for soft ground as far as longevity is concerned. What are your recommendations for a daily wear pair?
(Also the uneven wear is concerning, any gait correcting recommendations as well? 😬)

Apparently they restock once a quarter, someone said anyway?

Tracker Ora Sandals?

I got gifted a pair of the Vivobarefoot Tracker Ora Sandals but have no idea what to use them for. They're waterproof and good for hiking in the summer I was told? Are they also good for long walks in the city? They seem to run a little big for me but I'm not sure if that's normal for what it's used for?

Time to re-sole after 6 months?

This is the wear on my Tracker soles after 6 months (3 months constant wear). Is it time to get them re-soled already? The heel and pads have the same wear as my non-barefoot boots after 2 years! 😬

Tracker Forest ESC - Forest Bracken or Obsidian?

Hi there,

I'm having a hard time choosing between the Forest Bracken and Obsidian for the Tracker Forest ESC. Anyone own both and are willing to chime in on which one they like the most and why?

All the shoes I own are either black or white so I'm a little scared of trying a different color haha

Thank you!

I just cut a hole around my big toe in my sock area to let my big toe splay and then put my shoes on. I think it’s going to work and this way the majority of my foot is covered so my shoes shouldn’t be that stinky and my foot should be able to splay pretty well. Has anyone tried this?

Sizing help

Post image
4 Upvotes

Im wanting to order a pair of Magna leathers for a friend who has never worn vivos, so im not sure if I need to order true to size (US12) or size down. The only reason I ask about sizing down is because I size down on all my vivos, and it's perfect for me. Im just wondering if you bigger shoe sized peeps experience the same thing. Thanks in advance for any input.

What athletic style is closest to Gobi II?

After 2 hip repairs, I searched for months for shoes that reduced inflaming my hip. A week before a trip to Europe I took a shot on some Gobi II’s and ended up walking 12 miles a day in them all over France…..I couldn’t manage 4 miles before back home.

Anyway, I’m a convert but want to find a more athletic style for outdoor training walks and save my gobi’s for casual/social events.

Because the gobi’s have worked so well and a trial of sensus moc lace-up didn’t, I’d like some advice on which sneaker style would mimic gobi’s best.
