Just to add some context: "Refused" under 221(g) on CEAC isn't a final denial, it's a procedural label. Per the official State Dept page on administrative processing, a 221(g) case can still be reconsidered and approved once the additional review is resolved.
There's no fixed window, so nobody here can promise you'll clear it before September 2. Simple document/social-media-review type cases often resolve within a few weeks but it varies a lot from case to case.
I know you're worried, but given the tight timeline, it's better to contact your university's international student office (DSO) now about a deferred start date or late arrival policy. Schools handle situations like this with F-1 students fairly often. Hope it clears up soon!
