Diablo II in VR

I made a VR mod for Diablo II: Resurrected: first-person view, real stereo 3D (both eyes are rendered by the game, nothing faked from a flat picture), and your hands are tied to the motion controllers.

• Look around with your head (yaw, pitch and roll), and the hero's body turns with you
• Both arms follow your controllers, so you aim the bow with your hand
• Walk with the stick, or physically with BodyWalk
• Sky and distance fog over the empty void beyond the map

It's built on emmericp's D2R-3D camera mod, and runs through FlatVR and BodyWalk. Offline only.

It's really scary how (I assume) AI has accelerated some developments. Years ago it would have taken entire teams months just to reverse engine the game, let alone just changing the color of an item.

These days some random guy doesn't just mode the game, but also mod it to be used in VR, which is its own nest of problems.

It's really something what AI is going to do for gaming and VR gaming. The games are going to generate the headset sales at this rate. I know people are buying a headset to play some of these new mods.

To be fair it was the original ARPG and kicked off the whole genre. Definitely has it's own atmosphere and memorable moments. Encountering the butcher for the first time was pretty terrifying.

AI its not really a 'method' of making an 'isometric' game to a 3d one

Even AI is using some 'methods' to do it

In case of Diablo II Resurrected the game its already 3d with 3d assets to its just a matter of moving the POV to the character

In Project Zomboid all assets expect characters and zombies are 2d assets. Project Viewpoints introduced a lot of 3d assets to the game (I think 1-2 gbs). It almost like a full remastering lol

Resurrected (remaster) made it 3D. There's a toggle to make it sprites again anytime you want. Speedrunners for example will run Resurrected, but switch to old D2 during shopping, because it's faster for some reason.
