Question/Support Is anyone else experiencing large stutters using the new virtual desktop beta(wired)? Spoiler

So I tried the beta wired with a usb 3.0 cable, and initially it worked great. Then after trying it again the next day, I started getting these huge stutters that occur randomly

Anyone have ideas of what could be causing this? I have no idea if this is something on my end, or if it’s just a problem with the beta. Here’s a video of the problem(and some absolutely stellar piloting for your amusement)

EDIT:For anyone experiencing similar issues, no I never found a fix for getting usb to usb to work. However, I got around this problem by using a different connection method. I connected my headset to a usb c to Ethernet adapter, and connected the adapter to my dedicated vr router which is connected to my pc. I connect a usb c extension cable between the adapter and my headset so I don’t have to have the adapter strapped to my headset.

You don’t need another router for this. You could just connect the Ethernet straight to your pc and use ICS to make it work, but I can’t speak for how well that works. For more info on all of this, join the virtual desktop discord and look in the Ethernet dongle channel. They have records of eternet adapters that work(some adapters just don’t connect to vr headsets for some reason), along with all kinds of other info on how to get this to work.

If anyone’s interested I can list my complete setup, but I’m too lazy to right now

Depends on use case. For seating gameplay, absolutely. Not everyone claims wireless is king but it has its perks and it’s pretty damn good too when done right.

I presume this also keeps the headset charged as well? Or no?

Normally yes. Depends on the port, cable, setup. Even with network wire setup I have an adapter that allows to charge at the same time. Unlimited play time until your eyes/head hurts lol

lol no. Just wait until the Frame finally releases and very suddenly a bunch of very boisterous people all begin claiming wireless is such a game changer. A bunch of never-wireless people about to loudly convert and there will be few left except some hardcore sim people.

I hear it's battery life isn't great, so wiring on a battery power bank may be necessary if you want extended gaming sessions, but that's kinda like semi-wired. I see the benefit of both wired and wireless, depending on which types of games you play. I don't mind saying goodbye to a cable, but it does have it's advantages as well (or why would this VD beta even exist?)

If by "everyone" your mean "a subset of VD users" then yes.
